Best low-carb bars
Best on the market by value and taste - 60 gr. a bar with 3 gr. net carbs. Got them for $9.99 as the other reviewer but mine have expiry date of Jan 06 so I am sorry I did not order more.

tasted awful!
i'm still in the process of trying different low carb bars, but i'd have to say the atkins bars are the worst tasting. they taste like cardboard.blech! and all the flavors taste almost exactly the same. AVOID!!the only good thing is that they act as a great appetite suppressant. after eating one, im not hungry for HOURS!

EXPIRED!!!
I guess I should have known that at $9.99 a box that there would be something wrong with them...I ordered the Smores and Mocha Crunch varieties of the Atkins Advantage bar, and when they arrived, I noticed that one of the boxes was past the expiration date (Dec 2004) and the other is almost expired (Feb 2005). I can't believe that they can get away with selling expired food without advertising it as such. So, buyer beware! You get what you pay for sometimes! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

All carbs are not equal
I'd just like to dispell another reviewers comment on carbs. I'm a type one diabetic and i've been thru enough nutritional classes tought by medical professionals to know that not all carbs are the same. Net carbs and net carbs only affect blood glucose levels. If you want to see it for yourself go out and buy a blood glucose monitor, test your blood before eating an atkins bar, eat an atkins bar and test your blood 15-20 minutes after eating the bar. You should notice very little difference in your BG level. The next day try the same experimant with a snickers bar or something loaded with carbs/sugar. Best medicine for everything
I have been looking for BFI powder in stores for years - we used for every cut and scrape as kids - even for hives and other rashes.And, I used it for years on my dog's skin irritations.Then it seemed to disappear for a number of years, and I couldn't find it anywhere.I'm so glad to be able to find some.We call it "magic powder" in my family - soothes, dries out scabs, and generally heals all.

The most Perfect healing powder of its'kind
I am so surprised to find BFI medicated powder at Amazon.My Mother and I have been looking for this product for at least 10 years. Pharmacy/Drug Stores we checked with had never heard of it.My Mom and I used it a lot for healing sores, fever blisters, and scrapes, etc.I sure hope that it hasn't been discontinued. I enjoy this better than sugar
I have been moving away from sugar and this is the best product I have come across, WAY better than those pink and blue packets that have a aftertaste that seems to last for days!Plus this has a history behind it unlike those other products.

I really enjoy this in my coffee too.This product will take the world by storm once it reaches critical mass with consumers - it's one closer with me ;)

Unlike Aspartame (Equal/NutraSweet) or Sucralose (Splenda) or Acesulfame-K or any of the other dangerous chemicals that have been put in just about every food and drink nowadays, even GUM and vitamins, STEVIA is the natural extract of a sweet leaf.

Stevia has been used for THOUSANDS of years without ANY bad health or side effects.

Until just recently, Japan had a LAW that no artificial sweetener could be used in ANY food or drink! When you bought a DIET COKE in Japan, it used to have STEVIA in it! Unfortunately, now they too have been forced to put Aspartame in their soft drinks.

Stevia not only is safe for diabetics, but is actually GOOD for diabetics and helps diabetes! It does not promote tooth decay, and even though the FDA admits it is safe enough for it to be on store shelves, they will only allow it so long as Stevia does NOT say it is a sweetener, the US law says Stevia has to be called a "nutritional supplement" to satisfy the big money corperations that make Aspartame and Sucralose that pay good money to make sure the FDA does not allow any competition!

I was researching this for many years when trying to find a sugar substitute for my diabetic family member. I myself don't like the taste of Stevia because it has too much a taste of licorice, and I don't want everything I sweeten to taste like licorice. Other than that, this would be perfect and solve all sugar free problems.

So far, I have found nothing that is as good as sugar, and sugar is all I use, but for people that come over that want sugar free sweeteners, all I offer in my home is Stevia.

Not Equal, Not Sacharin.

Versatile improvement on an already powerful meter
I upgraded to the the OneTouch UltraSmart meter after being an Ultra user for 1.5 years after getting diabetes.Being my third meter, I have to say-- without a doubt-- that it is the best I've used to date.The PDA functionality is utterly useful, especially for those who have been unable to commit to a paper logbook or who don't want to spend the money on the proprietary interface cable.

The only reason I gave this meter four stars instead of a fifth is because of the case.It is a little firmer than the Ultra case (which I personally like), but for those trying to fit the case in a small jacket pocket it is a tad more difficult.Also (this is the primary reason I didn't add the fifth star) the test strip tube location is horrendous.The way that LifeScan builds the tubes, they have this ridge that juts out which makes it easier to open.For my Ultra case, I could fold the ridge down on the side.For the UltraSmart case, the loop is in a totally different position, which forces the ridge against either the meter or the finger-pricker.There didn't seem to be a "good" position to put the test strip tube in.

Overall, however, I still love the meter itself.It's quick and fast.After hours of flipping through options, the battery life still is running strong.Alsom, the backlight is a dream.It comes in handy in places like dark theaters where light is often absent.

One final contention I have with the meter is one of the options on the meter is "Help."When I was wondering how to change menu settings, I selected it, and a dialog box popped up telling me to access the manual or LifeScan's website.How useful of a help feature is that?Common sense would have said to either include a help system or don't even put the word in at all.Without the "Help" option, the primary text dialog wouldn't even need to scroll.Just a small critique from a UI (user interface) perspective.

Let me reiterate that this is still-- despite the test tube location on the case and the perplexing help feature-- the best meter on the market today. ... Read more
