Very skeptical
I am intrigued by the existence of products in the US claiming to be hoodia, when officially licensed hoodia gordonii supplements will not be on the market for years.Hoodia gordonii is the particular variety of the hoodia cactus that contains the patented molecule that supposedly is the active ingredient.A UK pharmco licensed the molecule back in 1998 and is still refining it in order to commercialize it (think 2008).Any products sold containing hoodia and marketed for weight loss are in violation of the patent.The way people "get around" this is by not actually including the active ingredient in the product, as though that's ethical.Others include hoodia but not h. gordonii.Bottom line is, this product should not exist.

Taking third bottle
Hello,

Firstly I would like to say that I find alot of these reviewers who claim it's a miracle a bit "dodgy". However, I am on my third bottle of Hoodoba and I plan to keep on taking it.

I would say that ithas cut my appetite by about 50%..which is alot! But it is not going to work for you if you don't change your eating habits and exercise.

I give it 4 stars for doing what it says it will: cutting appetite significantly.

I would give Hoodoba 10 stars!
I have tried so many diets in the past 6 years. I've tried Slim-Fast, Dexatrim, Atkins, phen/fen, Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, rice diet, cortislim and more. I've had good luck with a few, bad luck with some, while still others haven't worked at all. Really with most of the diets my experience was a sad one: after I went off the diet, I gained back all the weight + extra.
Once I made a serious commitment to lose weight, I used a combination of Hoodoba products, including Hoodoba Elixir and Hoodoba Hunger Block Plus. I learned how to eat correctly, and added exercise to my life.

Very subtle effect, at best
I used this product for two weeks and only noticed a very subtle difference in my hunger.I did not lose any weight.I think that the slight effect I did feel was from drinking 16-32 ounces of water every time I took the pills, just to get them down.Don't be fooled by the claim that this product was featured on 60 Minutes.It has been proven that the majority of hoodia sold is either not hoodia at all or not the variety that causes weight loss.Sadly, real hoodia products are still a few years from hitting the market. ... Do you take statins (ie: Lipitor, Mevacor..et al)?
If so, then you will want to take this as well.

I have been on statins of various types for over 10 years.As time has passed, I began to suffer from fatigue, stiffness and muscle pains.

A recent blood test showwed that my CPK levels were slightly elevated, but not so much so that I should be alarmed.I began to research C-Q10 in regards to statins on the web and discovered a lot of information describing how statins reduce natural levels of C-Q10 in the body which leads to all of the above problems.If it is not addressed it will eventually damage the heart.

Suprisingly, I found that Mercke had actaully been awarded 2 pattents on statins with C-Q10 included in the medication specificall becuase of the known problems with statins.Why they have never manufactured this combinations is a puzzle, but I have concluded on my own that it is to keep that "bad news" about statuns under wraps; who knows???

Here's what happens.All cells have mitocondria to provide the cells and muscles with energy.Statins zap the process that happens in the mitocondria by inhibiting the production of C-Q10 on the body.Without C-Q10, the mitocondria can not do their job efficiently and then the muscles begin to suffer because of this.Your heart is nothing more than 1 big muscle and it will suffer along with eveything else.

Within 24 hours of taking C-Q10 my symptoms had virtually diappeared.After 2 weeks I fell 10 years younger as all of my strength and agility has returned.

Great stuff!Do your homework on statins and then decide for yourself if this is right for you.Personally, I will not go 1 more day without taking this.i am at 150 mg per day and that seems to be just right.

a life saver
i have had heart problems for 20 years . one of my biggest problems in the last 10 years was with premature ventricular contractions (pvc's) . i had a defibrillator implanted to take care of the problem . was still having pvc's , not enough to shock me with defibrillator , but would tired me out so that i was to tired to do anything . someone recommended co q 10 and within a day or two most of my pvc'swent away . mentioned this to the doctor , he said there hasen'tbeen a study done on co q 10 because the pharmacys won't make any money on it . may feel a pvc no more than once a month . i swear by co q 10 and don't know what i would do with out it . have tryed different brands and have found that some work better than others , i am happy with natrol 100 mg. so if you have a problem like mine i would highly recommend co q 10 . i call it the miracle drug or vitamen ,what ever you want to call it , works great . hope this helps someone , thank you ( i might not be here if it weren't for co q 10 )

Coenzyme, Miracle cure?

Great taste - I shared with the kids - and they love it too.

Great product for anyone with fluctuating blood sugar level
I dont have diabetes, but I do suffer from hypoglycemia which can leave me feeling very irritable and disorientated. Generally snacking on candy bars will instantly make me feel better but minutes later will make the symptoms much worse. I've found that taking Glucerna bars are a great way of bringing up my sugar level and keeping it steady until I can get a balanced meal. I've also found that they help me have better energy when eaten before going to the gym.

Great taste!
This isn't just for people with diabetes.It can be a great diet aide, candy bar substitute, or nutrition bar.The taste is very good...not the sugary taste of a candy bar of course, but it has a nice chewy chocoate and peanut taste.It is on the small size, so isn't much as a meal replacement...unless you are dieting of course. But it is satisfying and low calories (150) and can suit many purposes.Great alternative for the kids to candy!

I'm Lovin It
This is the first time I have ever wrote a review, but get ready because I love this stuff.I am about 30 lbs. over weight and being a diabetic I need to find my perfect place as far as weight management, since starting GLUCERNA MEAL REPLACEMENTS shakes and bar I have really got on the right track.It is very tasty (almost feel like I am cheating) and my sugar levels are staying almost normal without medicine I am so glad I gave GLUCERNA a try I really feel like I am going to be able to take this extra weight off.I love the taste and they are so portable a little pricey, but worth every dime I spend on it. Best low-carb bars
Best on the market by value and taste - 60 gr. a bar with 3 gr. net carbs. Got them for $9.99 as the other reviewer but mine have expiry date of Jan 06 so I am sorry I did not order more.

tasted awful!
i'm still in the process of trying different low carb bars, but i'd have to say the atkins bars are the worst tasting. they taste like cardboard.blech! and all the flavors taste almost exactly the same. AVOID!!the only good thing is that they act as a great appetite suppressant. after eating one, im not hungry for HOURS!

EXPIRED!!!
I guess I should have known that at $9.99 a box that there would be something wrong with them...I ordered the Smores and Mocha Crunch varieties of the Atkins Advantage bar, and when they arrived, I noticed that one of the boxes was past the expiration date (Dec 2004) and the other is almost expired (Feb 2005). I can't believe that they can get away with selling expired food without advertising it as such. So, buyer beware! You get what you pay for sometimes! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

All carbs are not equal
I'd just like to dispell another reviewers comment on carbs. I'm a type one diabetic and i've been thru enough nutritional classes tought by medical professionals to know that not all carbs are the same. Net carbs and net carbs only affect blood glucose levels. If you want to see it for yourself go out and buy a blood glucose monitor, test your blood before eating an atkins bar, eat an atkins bar and test your blood 15-20 minutes after eating the bar. You should notice very little difference in your BG level. The next day try the same experimant with a snickers bar or something loaded with carbs/sugar. I have been moving away from sugar and this is the best product I have come across, WAY better than those pink and blue packets that have a aftertaste that seems to last for days!Plus this has a history behind it unlike those other products.

Not your average health meal bar
I thought these meal replacement bars would be awful.The box says "Meal Replacement Bars for people with diabetes".I'm diabetic and I immediately thought I had just bought a box of cardboard.I had never been able to find meal bars or dietary supplements that tasted halfway decent.Boy was I was wrong about these bars.These chocolate peanut butter bars taste great!Of course they're not as sweet as the store bought, loaded with sugar candy bars, but they're not candy bars.These bars are really great if you need to keep to a diet plan and keep blood sugars in check.I use them now that I'm planning my wedding and sometimes don't have time to eat the way my doctors want me to.These meal replacement bars are a good compromise that don't make me horribly regret missing a meal.My one suggestion, look at the ingredients before purchasing.Some diabetic foods can upset stomachs or not agree.I've had no problems with Glucerna products to date. ... I've tried many kinds and brands of stevia, and I have to say, this is absolutely THE BEST.
