A terrible product, consider the OneTouch Ultra instead
The BD Logic Blood Glucose Monitor is itself an O.K. device. The problem comes from theNew BD Test Strips (The ones with GoldEtch technology, whatever that means). They are absolutely horrible. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 16 years and have never used a more frustrating test strip. The capillary action is horrible and as a result they do not fill with blood properly and result in over 50% test error rate (E-3 error). No matter what you do you can't get the strip to fill with blood. For some reason, there is a small area in the reservoir that simply won't fill with blood. I've tried everything from using super large drops of blood to holding the test strip completely vertical. I called customer support and they gave me a bunch of suggestions that didn't help either. I've wasted over 400 test strips in less than three months. This can be very expensive and frustrating as a diabetic that tests my blood sugar 5 times per day. I don't like having to poke my finger four or five times to get onesuccessful blood test without an error. BD is aware of the problem with their test strips, but as of yet has no plans to re-engineer their test stips (As they explained in a letter they mailed me). Additionally, the battery life on the meter is very short. I have to change the battery once a month. I've only had to change the battery in my OneTouch Ultra 1 time in 2 years. Finally, the computer software for the OneTouch Ultra is much more user friendly than the software for the BD Logic. I think the BD Logic has great potential (especially when used in conjuction with the Medtronic Minimed insulin pump), but until they design a better test strip I would recommend that you buy the OneTouch Ultra instead. ...
