the dryweave is the bomb!
Before Always came out with their new pads a few years back with the Dry Weave product they invented, I had tried just about every pad on the market. They all have decent absorbency, but only Always has Dry Weave, a patented molded flexible plastic-like fabric that has thousands of tiny specially shaped funnels to draw moisture away from you and into the pad.

Always also raised the bar in women's products by introducing "wings" - now copied as "tabs" by other companies that don't do near as good of a job. ... Read more

when the original formula just won't cut it

Uncomfortable
I'm not a pad user myself, however before I started using a menstrual cup I used Always for my periods, even before having compared them to Lunapads or non-commercial pads I had a lot of problems with these pads.

For a start they were incredibly uncomfortable, with all the synthetic materials used and the plastic backing they had no breathability at all, so I was always sweaty in them, it is a surprise I did not suffer more yeast infections with these pads.
I'd always end up with these gathered in sweaty mess, they would rarely stay put, but when they did stay put I would find very bad rashes around my pantyline where the plastic edges would rub and the sweat would contribute.

A short while later I found the other disadvantages of harmful chemicals present in these sorts of pads, and that I had been using them in my teens without knowing they had contained dioxin - since then I cannot support commercial menstrual product manufacturers as it is well documented that harmful chemicals are used to treat these products for no reason other than to make them whiter. Always of course also being owned by Proctor & Gamble, which is another ethical consideration, on top of the environmental concerns.

My advice would be to avoid this product, if users of disposable pads try a brand such as Natracare, which are more breathable and doesn't contain harmful chemicals, or try switching to cloth pads. Avoid Always.

great for medium flow days (and nights)
Not so thick that people can see them through your pants or so that you're tossing and turning at night, but thick enough so you don't have any accidents while you're asleep or awake.I don't know what they put in these pads, but they can absorb a logic-defying amount of moisture. The dry-weave product, an invention of Always brand, is awesome in keeping the moisture away from you.If you have days with extremely heavy flow, you'll want to use the thicker version of this pad on those days. ...
