skin so soft bug guard is awsome
I live in the south and have been useing avon's sss bug guard for years. It has no deet in it. You dont have to wash it off when you come in. You can put it on your skin under your clothing. We have lots of skeeters out here and it keeps them off my children. Couldn't work without them
I have been using handeze gloves for 6-7 years. I have tendonitis and I also have a job that requires me to work at the computer all day. I would not be able to type for more than a few minutes if it were not for these gloves. These gloves do not restrict movement like so many of the other gloves on the market, so they are much more comfortable to wear for long periods of time, they are most comfortable when worn inside out however because of the seams.

This does not work for tendonitis.
The folks who use this item does not have tendonitis. It is no more help than wear a pair of underware on my hands. The other splints I have worn are so cumbersome, I thought these would be more comfortable. More comfortable, but no support and no help for my thumbs.

handeze really works!
I've been using these gloves for about 5 years and I can't go without them!I work all day at the computer, and my fingers start getting a little tingly/painful after 20 minutes if i don't use the handeze.With the gloves, though, i can go all day.I guess they improve the circulation a lot.I've never used any other brand, so I can't compare, but I highly recommend handeze.

Use a keyboard or play video games?Then you need these!
I have tendonitis in both hands (been tested for CT, negative so far), and I spend a lot a time on the keyboard-either at work, or on the PC at home.I also play a lot of video games.Before I found these gloves, I would be in constant discomfort doing any of the above.I had those stiff braces that they give everyone with hand problems, but I found them too bulky and stiff for everyday use.I tried these a pair of the Handeze on a whim, and it was almost unreal-my discomfort effectively vanished.I was able to type at work and play games at home for extended periods.Now they're not a panacea-I still use a wristpad on my keyboard & mouse and I exercise my hands for short breaks-but they do work as advertised.Since they leave my fingers and thumbs uncovered, I have no problems holding game controllers and joysticks.A pair of these last me about four to five months on average-I'm on my fifth pair and I've been using this product for two years now.I also have several co-workers that started using them after I introduced them to the gloves.Whaddaya have to lose? ... This device seems to help alleviate pain during exercise. Typical of neoprene appliances, it stretched somewhat; this leads to the velcro overlapping such that not all surfaces contacted for full hold, but it still stays on. Perhaps ordering a size smaller than is recommended might compensate for this. I noticed while hiking in territory with lots of debris at knee level that it tended to get undone and pull off; might require a wrap of some type over it. WHY DIDN'T IT LAST LONGER?
I still have a 21 year old 12X12 old GE heating pad I'm using again now since my NEW (received March 16, 2004) wonderfully large more versatile TheraP King Heating Pad suddenly ceased to work a couple of months ago. Giving it a rest I thought might help but now I'm convinced it's finished. The buttons light up and the AUTO SHUT-OFF goes off on time but no heat. As an elderly neck and shoulder arthritis sufferer, the AUTO-SHUT-OFF was great because it enabled me to get to sleep while the heat was still decreasing the pain. I notice other reviewers have made reference to the short life of the AUTO SHUT-OFF pads. I can't help but wonder if it would be such an insurmontable feat for the companies to somehow extend the life of this product. I certainly wouldn't think they would figure to sell more if the Heating Pads wear out faster?

Unreliable product
I have bought two of this model and neither one of them lasted very long at all, with normal and appropriate use. They both eventually stopped working completely, but before that, they became very unreliable. The buttons would light up and the lights would "run" up and down the control pad crazily! Then it would stop completely, or it would stay on and not turn off when the 'off' button was pressed; or the different heat settings didn't work and would only stay on "high"/hottest. Sometimes it would just turn on all by itself with no one even near it! These were not even used very much. When they worked, they were very comfy. They just didn't work very well or very long. VERY, VERY disappointing.

I hoped this would be well designed and reliable. It died very soon after I got it. Pay more, get less value.. this might be an exception to the normal quality of Home Medics but I will never trust their products again. What are the odds of me receiving something that passed quality control but didn't survive one month after?

Well, I tried this on a small area -- over a tan scar yesterday, resulting from a minor chemical burn.I'm still doing the first 12 hours. The pad is clear, though it has some thickness to it.It isn't exactly invisible on the skin.It is comfortable to wear.I actually had to change the pad this morning when I showered, and I think the best way to remove it is by applying warm water until it comes off by itself.That way there is no tearing of the skin.It's too early to say, whether I see any improvements or not.
Day 2 - It has been 24 hours since I initially put the pad onto a scar that is about 1.5 weeks old.The slight redness is gone and the scar is fainter.
Day 3 - The pad has been on the same scar continuously.I just took of the pad while washing my face.It looks better, in that the scar is not as annoying as it was when I first began.The color is now a much lighter tan, bordering on a pink shade.Right now, I'll be putting on hydrocortisone for a few hours, and put the pad back on before bedtime.
Day 4 - I wore it all day today.I guess it is getting a little bit lighter.No miracle though, as it still saddens me to see the scar... It has only been two weeks since the initial scarring and it is only my 4th day using this product.Patience is a virtue.
Day 5 - Again, lighter, yet still visible.The skin also seems to have matured in texture, which looks like it is a good thing.Less raw.The size remains the same.I am also putting a little bit of hydrocortisone on the scar.
Day 6 - The scar is fading, but still visible.

I have only begun using the scar therapy pads for 2 days and so far it seems to be working. I am using it on some scars (due to gallbladder surgery)that are around 13 yrs old, and already they are looking more pale. I agree that they are quite expensive, especially if you have mulitiple scars that you want to treat. However, since my scars are small, I find cutting the pads into multiple strips a good way to save some money. Also, the pads seem to stay stuck on my skin pretty well, so I haven't had the need to use the enclosed adhesive strips. They are probably useful if you want to bathe with the pads on or if you perspire too much. I will post another review at the end of the 8 weeks.

Result on very old & large scars
I have scars over ten years old from vein stripping, galbladder surgery and intestinal surgery, with the latter having 2-eight inch scars.I was told that I am "a keloid former," meaning scars are wide, bumpy and unnatural looking, and adhesions form.

I used one package of 21 strips of this product and saw some amazing results !!The scars are softer, smoother and there is less discoloration apparent.

The only reason I don't give this product five stars is because once you apply the product and leave it on 24 hours it hurts when peeling off the tape strips, and there can be some residual tape marks that are difficult to get off the skin.Also, it is relatively expensive is a person were to use it for the 8 weeks recommended.But, all-in-all, a very worthwhile product.

Great ankle support
While still recovering from a badly sprained/strained ankle & broken heal bone, I've been trying to return to as many of my normal activities as possible.Most importantly, in addition to normal walking, I regularly swim laps 3 to 4 times each week during which I need to protect my weakened foot and ankle.

All the other ankle supports I found were too bulky, complicated or uncomfortable.This is the only splint I've found that is not only extremely comfortable but also allows me to wear my regular shoes... and my "Zoomers" (shorty swim fins)!When I first used it in the pool, I wore it inside my Zoomer - worked okay, but the stabilizer tended to rub a bit.However, I found that it's much more comfortable & equally supportive to put it on over the Zoomer.(Just pull the splint on & above your foot, put on the swim fin & then put the splint into position and secure it over the fin.)

Ok, but not small enough
I have small hands and wrists and the size SMALL is still pretty loose on me. Would be much better if it had a more snug fit. I feel like I'm not getting the full benefit of the support since my wrist has a lot of room to move around in there. It helps somewhat though, and is better than using nothing, so I will still use it. But there should be an XS option (which, if it exists, I couldn't find).

They work!And they're machine washable!
What first attracted me to this one is its simplicity: You just slip it on and you're ready to go. No straps or laces to fiddle with. It's just as easy to slip off. And it's machine washable! We use are hands for everything, you know something covering them is going to get filthy, not to mention a bit of sweat.

The glove is made of cotton lycra, so it's as comfortable as a t-shirt and very stretchy. More importantly, it breathes so there's no sweat build-up under there. The tightness of the material serves as secondary wrist support.

The main support device is a foam-padded plastic (or maybe it's metal, I'm not sure) bar. It's stiff but flexible, and the foam padding keeps the bar from digging into your hand. The bar goes across the top of your hand rather than the bottom like most wrist supports. It is removable (be sure to remove it before washing). I read one review somewhere where the guy claimed the bar kept sliding out for him. I have no idea what he's talking about because the slot it slides out of is smaller in width than the bar itself, so you have to stretch the slot wide open in order to drag the thing out.

The other unusual feature of this glove is the "bean-bag" on the bottom. It serves to elevate your wrist to the proper hight so it helps to keep your wrists comfortably straight. It basically replaces the wrist rests you have for your keyboard and mouse. The "beans" are actually tiny plastic beads that don't dig into your hand at all.

I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis yet, but my wrists were starting to feel sore. I was afraid of developing something serious, so I got these gloves as a preventative measure. While using these gloves, my wrists don't feel sore while typing.

I read that wearing wrist supports while you sleep is also helpful because at night you tend to unknowingly bend your wrists in awkward positions. It took a little getting used to, but I think it is helping. With these Smart Gloves on during sleep, my wrists are able to rest in a proper straight position, giving them valuable healing time.

I read one review somewhere (probably on Amazon.com) where one lady complained that her wrists became MORE sore after wearing these gloves. My belief is that this is because she was fighting against them rather then letting them guide her "hand posture". If you have bad typing habits, wearing wrist supports aren't going to help if you continue to insist on using your old habits, which will probably cause you to strain against the support. This would cause even more stress on your wrists, and thus cause more soreness. What this lady needed was probably something with an inflexible metal support to force her hands into the proper position.

The bean bags under your wrists are easy to get used to with your keyboard, but harder with your mouse. Your mouse will be much easer to use if it's of a smaller size. If you have one of those big contoured mice designed to fit your entire hand, will will need pretty long fingers to reach the buttons. A short mouse, maybe a portable one designed for use with a laptop, would be better.

This glove is designed for flexible support. This is a plus if you need a bit of movement, but a minus if you need strong support to keep yourself from straining.

As is likely with any wrist support, it's difficult to wear a watch while wearing one of these gloves. You have to either loosen the watch and wear it higher on your arm, or just remove it while wearing the glove. Another option is to wear it on top of the glove, which some may think is silly, but I think it looks kinda cool. Of course that would defeat the purpose of the glove being easy to slip off.

Since the Smart Glove is not adjustable, it comes in three sizes: Small, Medium and Large. If you are buying it from a retail store, the side of the box has a little chart to measure your hand. Make sure you get the right size or it will be too tight or too loose. If you are buying it online, then use the measurements as follows:

Measure the width of your open hand at the knuckles.
3 inches or less = Small
3 - 3.5 inches = Medium
3.5 inches or more = Large

There is no left and right glove. They are all made the same. The default is right hand. To wear it on your left you need to remove the bar, turn the glove inside out, and slide the bar back in.

The box claims it was "developed by a hand surgeon" on one side and "designed by an orthopedic surgeon" on another side. My question is, if it was developed by one surgeon, why isn't his or her name on it? It's possible that it's true since it is a fairly unique design compared to other wrist supports. But I just find it a bit fishy that they won't mention which hand surgeon it was!
