it is easier to rinse out if you use a raw beaten egg(NOT if you leave this on for more than an hour! it will stink!)or if you dissolve the powder in half your hot liquid and use the other half to dissolve a package of pectin and combine to make a gel(this can make the dye lighter--wait a sufficient time to cook the color or reheat gently in the microwave)to make this stick to shorter hair better(even beards and moustaches) use colloidal oatmeal to mix with. www.hennaforhair.com is the best site for how-tos and mixes, and body grade henna. adding ground cloves or paprika or indigo will make the color change.
incidentally there is absolutely no other color of natural 100%henna than red shades--so if a product claims a neutral henna or other color like black or dark brown or blonde--they are lying! AVOID henna products using metal or mineral salts AT ALL COSTS! And Henna extract is NOT as effective as whole finely ground henna.

Egyptian Henna
I am allergic to almost all commercial hair dying products except real Henna.This product is all henna and nothing but henna.I have used it many times over the last 10-12 years and have never had any adverse reation to it.It is easy to mix up: mix with very hot tap water and make a paste for good coverage.It gives hair a warm golden, reddish color.For added depth of color, I also add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup ground cloves.Only mix in glass or ceramic containers! (I use a glass bowl). Use a ceramic or plastic spoon to stir (not metal!).Some people claim that using coffee or tea instead of water will make it even darker, but when I tried that, it didn't make the color any different.Only ground cloves makes the color deeper.The paste is quite messy and takes a long time to rinse out.Dress in an old shirt and use old towels so as not to stain your good stuff.

For added shine and color between applications, mix a little bit of henna with hot water to make a rinse. Henna is only temporary, but fades gradually so you won't get those tell-tale roots that most women have when their hair grows out.Henna can be reapplied safely every two months or so, but I don't use it that often.

Do not be fooled by 'black henna' products: most of these also contain hair dye and can cause severe allergic reactions.Natural black henna does not color well at all; it rinses right out.Use natural RED henna for the best results, and use Egyptian brand!I highly recommend it. ... Read more
