Great clipper
I was sort of reading mixed reviews on this clipper, so I was nervous about ordering but i'm real glad I did.Some of the poor reviewers were saying that it pulled hair and it hurt and this and that.Well thats a bunch of garbage.I have REALLY thick hair (I'm russian).I didn't have any problem whatsoever with any pain or pulling.It cut very nicely and easily.I only cut my hair once so far so i'll update this after more cuts... but as of now I am VERY satisfied with this clipper!

Great Unit!The power alone makes it a steal, the accessories make it wonderful!Wahl has the history, they're quality in terms of power and reliabilty have helped them stay in business against the cheaper producers.

Give yourself a crewcut
After much shilly-shallying, I took the plunge and bought this set several months ago -- and for me, at least, it's worked out extremely well.I've been saving a bundle on regular haircuts by cutting my own hair; it's amazingly easy and also saves me time, as it takes just a few minutes to do.Note -- this is important -- that I keep my hair short all around (maybe a tad longer in the front), basically crewcut length, so there's not much art to cutting it.I started out, somewhat nervously, using the #8 black plastic attachment (which leaves hair the longest), but now use the #6.I simply stand in my bathtub (a DRY bathtub, needless to say; you want somewhere for the cut hair to fall that'll be easy to clean up) and clip my hair all around, occasionally looking in a cheap, light suction-cup mirror that I stick to the bathroom wall, but mainly doing it by touch.Now, it's possible that my friends have been lying to me or snickering behind my back, but -- at least to my face -- they all say they think my hair looks great.I have no idea how hard or easy it would be to cut hair if it were long and/or wavy; perhaps that would take more skill than I possess.But for my purposes, this electric clipper has been a great decision and has already paid for itself many times over.

Very satisfied
Bought to cut my own hair while in school.I have wavey hair, but the clippers work really easily.No pulling.I was careful the first haircut (took me close to 40 minutes), but it turned out really well.Don't hesitate to buy.Take your time trimming.It helps to have a small, handheld mirror and/or someone to make sure you trim the back evenly.

This clipper pays for itself
I use this clipper set to trim my husband's very short hair. He used to go to a stylist who charged him $25 a cut.Because his ideal cut is very close all around, he needed to get a new cut every 4 weeks or so, and those fees really add up quickly. We finally cut the cord with the stylist and bought a home clipper set.

The clipper is powerful and does not get too warm. It is easy to use and the included video makes it easy to learn to cut hair. I haven't attempted any of the more complicated cuts, we just use a Number One comb all over my husband's head and clean up the edges without any comb at all. However, we do find all the accessories to be very useful; the brush for cleaning the clippers, the lubricating oil, and the brush for sweeping stray hairs off the neck. Occasionally I use the shears to trim the hair around his ears, too. The kit also has a mirror and a plastic apron, which are helpful to have.

You really could use this kit to get started with all kinds of cuts, and Wahl is a good brand for clippers. If you are looking to get started even just occasionally, this is a great kit to have. With what we've saved in hair styling fees, this kit paid for itself a long time ago. ... Read more

Perfect for my number 1 all over do.
Im probably not the best person to review this complete haircut kit as I literally shave my head short (number 1) all over. However for this persom they are great. They feel very well made and durable. They are extremely sharp and not having to oil them is a very welcome feature. They hold their charge well enough. As for the other 21 pieces in the set I can really comment as I wont be using them but they look of a decent quality. Shame remington cannot introduce a stand alone clipper set without all the fancy accessories for a cheaper price for those who just buzz cut though.

Not what I expected!
When used with anything but the one inch attachment it badly pulls hair. Even the scissors and trimmer are dull.

Chromed and sharp for the chrome dome
Simply put, these clippers work great.I really don't know what a couple of the other reviewers have been talking about.My hair is particularly thick, and the clippers run through it like a knife through warm butter.The cordless option is fantastic.Though it is indeed a bit less powered than when plugged into an outlet, it worked well enough for me to cut my hair standing in the tub so that the hair clippings did not fall all around the bathroom.Let's run through the summary:

PROS
-light, very light...so it's easily maneuverable.
-very quiet.
-comes with a bunch of different size groomers and trimmers for varying lengths.I have opted to go near bald sometimes and otherwise chosen to leave my hair pretty long in other cases.It worked well in both instances.
-cordless.

CONS
-really, I can't think of one.If hard-pressed, I might suggest a better storage box for all the trimmers and accessories that it comes in. But quite frankly, you get two brushes to clean the trimmers, a bunch of varying length attachments, and a storage bag.

All in all, this is a terrific clippers and a great value.Frankly, the only thing that irks me is that the price has come down 5 bucks since I bought mine 6 months ago.But, the price was still low in the first place, so what's the deal.


UPDATE: I am lowering the review to 4 stars.The clippers are still pretty nice, but they lose their sharpness very very quickly.I am in talks with Remington to figure out a way to resolve this problem.

That was the scream of my husband when getting his hair cut by this new set of clippers.Our old one finally died after 5 years (a different brand) so I tried to research some clippers.I saw Remington seemed to have only a slightly higher rating than others so I thought we'd go for that one.

The only pro?It's whisper quiet, he didn't even know it was on...

...until wads of his hair were getting ripped from his scalp.He likes his hair short (less than 1/2") and we had to whittle using the 1/2" attachment which made him wince and then again with the 3/8" and 1/4" attachments to get it even all over.I was literally sweating I was so nervous cutting his hair because he was obviously in pain.This is going back PRONTO and I'm sure I'll be reviewing another brand...hopefully a positive one! ... happy at last
I have a pair of GE clippers that are dreadful. I have to go back with scissors to even out the mess they've left behind. I so much hated cutting my children's hair because of the pull and mess, I wait until they look like little animals. After reading all the reviews for clippers on this site, I was waffling between these Vidal Sassoon and the Andis pet clippers from petco. I got these at Target today and came right home to cut hair. They already had enough charge to test, but I hooked them to the cord(which is like a cell charger) and had my 6 yo done in no time. I am so happy with these clippers! They have the best attachments I have seen or used yet. They have longer and shorter settings. I didn't even have to use scissors on my 9 mo.I did use the scissors on my 6yo. They are nice too, not flimsy. The clippers have a nice look and feel- good control, wonderful cut, worth the money. I am delighted.

A Great Buy!
Though it's not the best clippers I've ever used, it is still a pretty good buy, and the set includes some fairly usable combs and scissors. All in all, the set is fine and it's cheap...but if you want some better quality clippers, seek elsewhere.

These clippers are great!
I purchased these clippers to use on my little boys. They are 3 and their hairstyle is a fade. I have never given a haircut before but was excited to try it. Other reviews say the clippers are extremely loud, what are they talking about?! My battery powered toothbrush is louder than these clippers! I watched the DVD that is included and read the instruction book. Then I started the haircuts. At the hair dresser they usually use a No2 on the sides and a No3 on top but being it was my first time I used the No5 on the sides and No6 on top then trimmed it up with the scissors and they look excellent, I was surprised I could do such a good job!
The kit includes:
the clippers with a guide on it to let you know the sizes of the attachments, attachments No1-No8 + No12, 3 ear attachments, eyebrow attachment trimmer, a cover, a cord wrap, a safety plug cover, cape, brush to brush off loose hair, oil, cleaner brush, 1 comb (not 3),scissors, 2 hair clips (not 3) DVD, booklet, and hard case to keep it all.
I would definately recommend these clippers. It does say you may have to adjust the blade after a while but it shows you how on the DVD, and it's simple. Maybe now my husband will let me experiment on his head. :-)

The best Wahl set up, yet!!!
I had the old hair system and this new one is GREAT. This machine is quiet and will save you hundreds. The DVD is great for the learner yet easy for anyone to use and love. I have owned several whole sets before but this one is hands down the best. The color coded blades make for easy use and the clippers glide through the hair like a knife through hot butter. I am a fan of the Wahl system sense I have 4 sons and let me tell you this is easy for anyone to use and you can save tons. A perfect present also.

Best Hair Clippers You Can Buy, Professional Quality!
Growing up, my dad used to cut my hair with an old Wahl clippers he used back when he was in the Navy. I was brought up with home haircuts and when I enlisted in R.O.T.C. the old clippers were brought out again. With my current employment, regulations require a military style haircut. Instead of paying $11 every three weeks, I decided to upgrade to a more modern and current clippers. (By the way, the old clippers are still running strong and still cut like the day they were purchsed. I just wanted a more modern clippers and more acessories). I did not have to do any research as to the best clippers in quality and price. I went straight to Wahl. I cut my own hair and it looks like a professional job. Wahl gives a clean, even, precise cut, with no hair pull. It has an electro-magnetic motor, so it naturally has a hum and does vibrate when on. The clippers come from the factory pre-adjusted and pre-oiled. All one needs to do is plug it in, attach a guide comb and begin your haircut. The DVD supplied is also an added asset. It not only covers different hair cutting techniques, it also covers SEVERAL different haircuts/styles and maintainence. Trust Wahl. Wow!
This product is a must have. My wife has been cutting my hair off and on for the past 15 years with one pair of traditional scissors.These clippers operate flawlessly.No need to go to a barber since she has learned to use the clippers like a pro.Comes with a case and an assortment of accessories.

Good deal, return of it bites
One haircut for my husband, another for my son, and the set was paid for.Not too loud, either.Lots of combs, clips and even a nice pair of scissors make this set an incredible value.

As described in other reviews, my first set was also biting.I tried to adjust the blades to avoid this, and found that the white plastic piece that holds the second, inner blade was not installed at an angle, which made it impossible for the two blades to align.Because it was more than 30 days since I received the set, I returned in directly to Wahl, who VERY promptly sent me a replacement set that is perfect.

Pulls Hair and Unalignable
I order this and was delighted with its appearance, but it literall jerked my hairs out and was excruciating, even with a high pain tolerance.I tried various times unsuccessfully to correct this by oiling and following the mbiguous "instructions" and "diagrams" on how to align the blades, but nothing helped.

Have returned to my barber at $10/per cut.

This product is a must have.First of all, my wife has been cutting my hair for the past 2 1/2 years with one pair of traditional scissors.At that time, I was a student.Obviously, I didn't have much $$ to go to barber shop each month just to stay in shape.

Great product, but don't count on the flipover trimmer part.
This is the very first trimmer I ever used.I was tired of waiting in line and paying what I can do at home in 15 minutes.The trimmer is fairly easy to use and requires minimal maintenance.(I just brushed the hair off after each use.)

It would deserve a full 5-star if the latch of flip-over fine trimmer didn't break the first time I used it.The fine trimmer still works with my thumb pressing to hold it in place.Since then, I have given and received haircuts 20+ times using it (that's what starving graduate students do other than subsisting on Ramen noodles.)When I save enough money, I think I will simply get a beard trimmer to do the fine touches.After all, one can't expect a $20 tool to do everything.

busted
I just got mine in the mail today and the product must have been updated because the accessories I recieved are not what is displayed on the website. Amazon you need to update. I did not recieve a neck brush and only one comb. To top it all off the plastic part of the detail trimmer is cracked. I have not used it yet but hopefully it will work.

GreatHair Clipper Set--but be careful WHERE you but it!
I bought this from EVERYTHINGHOME.COMThe kit arrived in a Pansonic shipping carton which originally contained parts from an importer-exporter--without a Packing Slip, Invoice, or Return Form!Things did not look good.The Wahl clipper inside was missing cutter teeth and the blade was out of sync.I was instructed to return it to it a different company: OCI, with the "O" standing for Overseas (Everythinghome.com considers orders from OCI to be "direct from the manufacturer" shipments.Yeah, right.I was really worried now.EverythingHome charged a 15% "restocking" fee on return of a defective unit--and didn't refund return shipping charges!I was so furious I ended up buying it from Wahl direct.(Actually, I should have bought it from Amazon.com., where I get most of my stuff, and get a lower price to boot.)Who knows where Everythinghome gets their stuff.As for the Wahl clipper set itself, it is great in every respect!It's a complete kit and I love it.Replaces another Wahl clipper I had used for 13 years (during which time I saved over $2,000 cutting my own hair.)Don't hesitate one second in getting this performer. Great clipper - needs improvement tho
I bought this for a bit more at Walmart becuase I needed it asap. My hair grows back at an incredible rate and if I don't trim it within 2-3 weeks, it looks BAD.

This model featured a Powerdrive system that's supposedly more powerful at cutting thick hair more smoothly. It also sports this special detail trimmer that pops out and attaches to the trimmer blade like a silencer for a rifle. The only difference is that it makes 3 times more noise than the regular trimmer. It was so loud I couldn't stand it buzzing next to my ear.

I tried oiling it to no avail, it's just very noisy and vibrates a lot. The regular trimmer is just like the old Wahl I had. In fact this trimmer looks and feels JUST like the old Wahl I had from the mid 90s.

I didn't feel any difference in how smoothly it cut - it just got really hot really quickly.

But it's new and it has a 5 year warranty. It would pay for itself in the 3rd or 4th haircut at home.

UPDATE: After the 3rd cutting, the trimmer appears to be slightly quieter and doesn't get as hot.
I oiled the blades and made sure it was clean.

The small trimmer attachment got a bit quieter but I found that if I just wear earplugs I can handle the noise. No Big deal at all.

The hair trimmer already paid for itself and I'm getting really nice and clean haircuts by myself.

UPDATE:
After about the 10th use, the longer trimmer guides vibrate and the smaller "fuzz hair" adapter vibrates right off of the main trimmer body.
It still cuts great for such an inexpensive trimmer. It does the job of an industrial strength trimmer and after about 3 haircuts, it pays for itself. I can pretty much get a brand new trimmer set each year and still save over going to a hair salon/barber shop.

My hairstyle isn't complicated: Guide #4 for the top, Guide #1 for the sides. High and tight. I see no reason to pay a barber ten dollars to do the same thing. ... Read more

High Quality Shaving Set - Excellent Value
I have shaved with a shaving brush & soap for a couple of years now, until recently using a low-end (plastic) Burma-Shave shaving brush to make up my morning lather. After surfing many internet sites, I found this one to be be the best value in terms of style, (presumed) quality and cost. (Some comparable sets go for $150 - $200!) ow!wow!it works
i attempted to give myself a wax... this stuff works super well.it didn't "explode" or anything, it was simple and smelled nice :)it was super painful, so i think i'll use it jsut for my legs.it ripped out every hair that it covered.it did awesomely on my eyebrows that are super thin and hard to pluck.this is a superb item.the end

Burned me badly
After microwing the product, I went to stir it and it exploded in my face. I suffered 2nd degree burns to my face, hands and arm. I followed the instructions for heating the product and it still exloded. Do not buy this product.

Used it once
I used this one time for a haircut and about 3/4 of the way through, I lost hold of the thing, it fell on the floor, and that was it.Dead.How very sensitive.As the description says, the price of haircuts adds up, but so does the price of buying bad clippers over and over.Save your money and buy higher quality.And I know what you're thinking...if I hadn't lost hold of the unit, maybe my haircut would have turned out OK.Perhaps.And perhaps cutting my own hair just wasn't for me.It just wasn't worth the hassle, and now I have to go get my bad, self-inflicted haircut fixed.Grumble.

Painful experience
I bought the clipper because it had two features most important to me: (1) cordless operation; (2) adjustable-length comb attachments to eliminate the need to constantly change comb attachments.I used the clipper right out of the box without charging the battery (I used it with the cord attached).I found the motor was extremely weak, stalled every few seconds (requring me to turn the clipper off/on repeatedly), and the clipper pulled my kid's hair out painfully.Perhaps I should have charged up the clipper's battery fully before using it, but according to its manual, it is supposed to work as a corded clipper with the cord attached when the battery is depleted.

The clipper comes with two adjustable-length comb attachments - one for short hair lengths and one for long lengths. The short comb attachment seems OK, while the long comb attachment is poorly designed - hair gets trapped easily and builds up in the comb, I had to constantly shake or blow on the comb to get the hair out.Overall, I'm very disappointed with this Wahl clipper.

Just Plain Disappointed!!!
When I first came across this item I was happy to find a hair cutting kit with a quality name and at a affordable price but that's where my excitement stopped.. Upon receiving and trying the kit I was very disappointed. First the combs I received were so thin and bendable that you could barely get them thru the hair so I had to use my older yet stronger combs.. Next the clipper comes with a sliding thumb-operated switch that allows you adjust the combs to the proper cutting height however in my case it just moved on its own while cutting hair. Lastly the cut hair became clogged at the bottom of the clipper comb and that made it difficult to cut. Everybody has to make their own choice when buying these kits so maybe someone else will have a better experience then I had, but I could not recommend this one. So I sent it back.. ... Read more

pulled my son's hair
My son is almost 3yrs old and gets his hair cut every 4-5 weeks so I thought I'd try it myself.It appears to be a great deal, only 14.99$ with lots of attatchments plus comb and scissors. The blades would not stay aligned and it PULLED my son's hair more than it cut.He was crying and screaming.I reread the directions several times.I finally gave up, returned it the next day, and made a trip to the hairdresser.Thank goodness he was not traumatized from the experience and let the hairdresser cut his hair!

Just OK
The clipper is much bigger and heavier than I expected. I found it technically complicated to use; it needs to be oiled regularly (oil comes with the clipper), two pieces on the clipper need to be aligned (mine never gets aligned!), and it needs to be adjusted with a screwdriver to the voltage level in your residence (otherwise, an uncomfortable click sound comes every time turned on). Unfortunately, these things are not mentioned on the seller's web site.

Other than those, the clipper works (mine doesn't pull hair, but I don't use it for haircut). Its price is very reasonable (I paid $15). But, you may want to check other brands with comparable prices.

Yes, it's a great deal; you get a lot of stuff with this one with little cost.

Wow!
I had never heard of an "epilator" before a few days ago when I was researching different hair removal methods.I had been through depilatory creams/foam (yuck, never again), home wax (too messy, painful, and it removed like.. 2 hairs), and razors (which I used regularly, it grows back too fast).I had no idea that this type of product even existed.

I bought it today at the store and used it right when I got home, on my legs.When I turned it on I sort of freaked out at the noise (it's a loud buzzing noise like an electric razor) and the image of gigantic tweezer blades rapidly snapping away at my skin filled my head.I took a deep breath, sprayed my skin with bactine (I read that it's good to somewhat numb the skin with bactine before trying it), dried it off, and tried it.

Wow.. it wasn't even very painful.The soft cushiony area massaged my skin as the hair was pulled out.The pulling sensation felt like tiny little pricks.The one thing I recommend is to glide the device slowly, at a 90 degree angle, over the skin.It is more effective and time efficient.I know that I'll get better at it with time, but for someone who has never epilated before, it was very easy and I am *very* satisfied with this product.

I also tried the device on my underarms.It was awkward at first - I had to grip the device tightly because the frequency of the hair being pulled out was more than my leg. Having more hair in a smaller area also made it a little bit more painful - but it was definitely bearable.

I'm glad that I finally found another hair removal option that can be done in just a matter of minutes and lasts for more than just a day! ... Read more
