Take as soon as you start to feel sick!
Take one tablet every three hours as soon as you start to feel ill.Put the tablet into a little mug of water, let the tablet dissolved and then drink.The liquid will taste something like lemonade... it's not bad at all.

Twice this year I have used this product to ward off a bug and it absolutely works -- and works quickly!Usually by day two is when I feel perfectly normal and healthy.

And stock up because it sells out quickly in the store!

Airborne is Awesome!
I was pretty skeptical about this product at first - but after trying it I discovered it actually works!You will need to take it when you first feel symptoms of a cold, and you may need to repeat a couple of times.I have successfully fended off several colds this season that normally last weeks!

Really and truly works to fight a cold!
I love this product! I honestly believe that it's helped me fight off several colds. As soon as you feel that scratchy throat, itchy eyes, or sniffly nose...you just plop one tablet into a cup of water, let fizz for a minute, then drink. Repeat every three hours or so until the symptoms go away. It tastes pretty good too; something like a lemon-lime selzer. I like this flavor better than the original orange, but that one is pretty good too.And I swear, the stuff works! I also really like Zicam, but prefer this effervescent formula over Zicam's nasal gel. Try this, and see why stores can't keep it on the shelves!

This stuff is magic - honestly.
I can't believe some weird mix of herbal stuff and vitamins and can really fight off your cold so fast, but it does. It's really amazing. Great Product
My colds always lasted for two weeks until I used this product, and that is how I know it works.I used it exactly as it directed and my cold consisted only of minimal throat discomfort and some coughing.After a week, all symptoms subsided.Even though I've heard Zicam can prevent colds altogether, I am grateful for any alleviation I can get.

I swear by it!
I recommend this to everyone I know.It really does reduce the duration of a cold...or if you catch the cold in the very beginning, it can prevent a cold.

A friend of mine started taking it the day she and her husband were both coming down with a cold.He didn't take it.Her cold was completely gone in two days.His lasted two weeks!

Excellent (a former cold-eze user)
I have used the oral zinc lozenges for several years and felt that they worked quite well.This last cold I decided to give the nasal gel zinc a try and the difference was noticable right away.There is the usual part of the cold where it starts and gets a bit worse for a few days but that part where you feel miserable for 3 or 4 days was gone.The symptoms got as bad as they were going to get (and it was NOT all that bad) and than started to improve.

I will say that I initially bought the gel in the pump, used it for one full day and ended up with a bloody nose.I found the pump very difficult to control, both how far the gel goes in and how much.The swabs work much better and I had no further problems. You really are supposed to only have the gel at the very end, this isnt like the traditional nose spray...The swabs are more expensive altho this price is quite good.A full $3 less than I paid locally.

I know there are some issues for some people regarding loss of smell with this product but I havent experienced this at all.Its a wonderful and very helpful product for people like me who can not due to medical reason take anti histamines and decongestants.

Fights the cold itself, not just the symptoms.
Okay, I am one skeptical person.But when a cold comes around, I get desperate and try everything.So far, this is the only thing that does what it says.At first, I saw the studies saying that it reduces colds by 75%, and I did not believe it.Then I tried it.

When I tried it out for the first time, I was well into my cold, so this product did very little except clear up my nose.The next time I used it at the first sign of a cold.It worked the first time, and as of now, 10 months later, it worked again.

First off, my colds are usually predictable.First few days I have a cough, dry throat, and I'm short of breath.The next day a cough and congestion develop.The fourth day and fifth day, I have trouble breathing, and the thought of doing anything is pain.By the sixth day I start to feel better and can function somewhat normally, and by day eight, I'm mentally normal, but physical down.Only by day 14 does the cold's effect totally wear off, and I'm able to be continue my exercise routine.

So, when I take Zicam, it's like days 3 through 7 do not exist.The worst of the cold is never experienced.Granted, it's not a cure, but it sure stops a cold from ruining my whole week.

On Saturday night, I noticed a cold coming on.On Sunday morning, I started taking Zicam every four hours.Monday I felt somewhat bad, but I was able to come to work and get some stuff done.Today is Tuesday, and I would normally be at home sick, but I actually feel better.In fact, I'm at work writing this review and continuing my work day as normal.That is how good this product is.

Okay, so I took it twice, so this is by no means a scientific test.I also coupled it with plenty of water and rest.Who knows, the cold might have gone away anyway.I'll continue to use it anyway, and I'll always have a nasal spray bottle in my car, and the swabs in my car and at my office.

How does it work?Well, I don't think anyone really knows, but some doctors think that zinc interferes with reproduction of the cold virus, and since the cold virus likes to stay in the nose, a nasal spray works well.

This product lives up to its name
I have used this product twice. Recently I caught a cold two days ago. Normally my cold starts with soar throat symptom, which lasts for two days and is really painful at night to just gulp down my own saliva or glass of water. Then the soar throat goes away and runny nose with some sneezing starts that lasts for about two weeks. From rubbing my nose, it gets red. The first time I tried Zicam, my cold was already advanced and I only noticed little improvement. Yesterday, after I started applying it soon after noticing my symptoms, my cold has been in control and I have not really had a soar throat. I do have a slight head ache because of the cold, but my throat is great and my nose is not runny at all. I have become a fan of this product. I have tried many cold remedies but this one has had some drastic effects for the better. The only other thing that worked for my throat was an ice cold glass of coca cola with caffeine. I think the chilled drink just kills any sensation in the throat and the caffeine has a soothing affect. Some people here said they had problems with Zicam. I had no such problems at all, in fact one time I even sniffed the jell all the way too much that it dropped into my throat and on my tongue, but had no harmful affect and no irritation at all. In short I would highly recommend this product and I hope it is easily avaialable for all.

Zicam Worked 1st Time
I went to vote Nov 2nd, I had some reservations due to reports of long lines and crowds-- I had five colds and the flu last winter so I am a bit paranoid now and try to avoid social situations in winter. I am also still recovering from two major abnominal operations from a burst appendix when I almost died twice.

I went to the polls anyway, I noted there were some sick people in the retirement village where I vote. Symtoms of a cold came on in about 12 hours, I had muscle aches, fever/chills and a stuffy runny nose the next morning. The symtoms went away in the afternoon and I thought it was just due to my allergy. News report showed no majaor alergens in our air that day. The symtoms returned stronger in the evening. I had purchesed some Zicam and Zand (zinc cough drops) just in case. I wanted to avoid a repeat of last year. I used just the Zicam on swabs twice before bedtime and again at 3 am when I got up to use the bathroom. I woke up the next morning with a stuffy nose; and I had some sneezing-- I thought well it does not work! By noon I felt much better and took another dose after a lunch of cheese, chicken vegetable soup with Tabasco and garlic. By 2 PM the symtoms were gone, I did dumbell training and my Palites workout. That eve I decided to wait until bedtime to use the Zicam-- the symtoms returned about 7PM. I used Zicam again and the next morning and at noon. Now I am totaly well and not using the product. When I blew my nose in the afternoon yellow mucas was produced. In the past this was always after the end of my cold, after going thru several days of misery, nose running like mad and then the chest cough. To me it looks like Zicam stops the cold in phase one, before you reach the later two phases of runny nose and weeks of coughing. Since the product is enough to treat about three colds I think its a great value. I doubt it will help with the influenza flu virus infection since it only targets cold virus receptor sites in the back of the nose, I may try Zand "Enchinacea Zinc" for flu.

cures the common cold, kills the drug manufacturers
This stuff is amazing. I had about 10 colds last year, which is normal for me, since I'm very susceptible to contagious afflictions. I killed every one of them within 24 hours with Zicam gel. It's literally changed my life. I have bad allergies and a history of antibiotic overprescription, so my immune system is pretty poor. The colds that other people call a little inconvenience used to turn into major, drawn-out infections for me; sometimes I was afraid to see people or eat in a restaurant during the winter because there was a high risk I'd catch someone's "little cold" be in bed for a couple of weeks, and subsequently less resistent to the next contagious agent, and so on in a downward spiral. Now I can do whatever I want, because if I feel a cold developing, I just zap it and go on with my life. It's incredible.

The only reason I'm on the web right now is that I can't find Zicam on the store shelves anymore. Looking at the lawsuit ads, I guess I can see why! If I were a manufacturer of cough medicine, Zicam would be my worst nightmare. This IS the elusive, proverbial cure for the common cold, and unless they manage to bankrupt the company, it will be a huge loss not only for companies that make cough syrups and pain killers, but for those that make antibiotics as well. Not only does Zicam work; but the real insult is that Zicam costs a fraction of what the other products cost.

I wanted to respond to the negative reviews because, if this product goes away, it'll be a sad day for me.

I haven't had any problems with loss of taste or smell, other than is usual with colds. Chronic and repeated sinus infections put me at much greater risk of such a loss than a little zinc in my nose. Frankly, in my case, if I were to lose my sense of smell, it would be worth not being in bed sick all winter, every winter. I do experience a little irritation when I put it too far into my nasal passages by accident, it but it's a lot less irritating than a full-blown cold and worlds better than a sinus infection.

Zicam spray
I've used this product many times in the past and honestly believe it really DOES shorten the duration of the common cold.
Maybe if people would take the time to actually READ and FOLLOW the directions on using the product (you DON'T just shove the nozzle up your nose and start squirting away for one thing) maybe they wouldn't be running to their lawyers looking for those big lawsuit $$$ right now.

Very Risky
I used this product up until it gave me nosebleeds, then I found out that there is a chance of losing smell and taste.Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Trouble with swabs
The first time I used this product it worked.My cold symtoms were gone the next morning.But I had trouble with breaking open a few of the swab containers.2 problems; either the swab came apart from the handle or the plastic tubing wouldn't break open, this made about 5 swabs practically useless.I want to use them again but I don't like the idea of wasting money.One box cost almost $13.

Worked for some colds, not all
One teeny bottle could possibly serve two colds. Over the course of two years, I used this pricey product at least six times. Three of those times I started inserting the gel the minute I began sneezing, but the colds progressed to their apex in spite of my administering every 4 hours. One cold continued on its merry way for 2 weeks. The other three times, Zicam worked as described, it cut the cold recovery time in half and allowed me to breathe at night. I didn't care for the hardened Zicam gel that came out of my nose within two hours of administering. Lately, I've been relying on Airborne and EmergenC and those seem to work ok.

Works for me - but...
I always had very good results with this product. Prospective users should be aware that there a number of people who claim this particular product caused for them either a temporary or permanant loss of smell/taste and is under investigation.

Don't leave home without it!
The cold remedy products by Zicam really do help!I keep them in my purse, downstairs in the medicine drawer and upstairs in my bathroom closet so my family always has access to them at the first sign of a cold.I have even gotten up in the middle of the night to use it when I first felt a scratchy thoat.I haven't needed any other cold product in the 3 years I've been using Zicam.It's a little harder to use on the kids because you can't always know right away that they are getting a cold, but I am trying to "teach" them to tell me right away if they even think they might be getting a cold.This definitely works best if you use it right away and keep using it.It doesn't make the cold dissappear completely, but this is the next best thing.The only symptom that I've found this doesn't work very well on is a horse voice (laryngitis?)which I am prone to but most people aren't. But if that's the worst symptom I get--I won't complain!Follow the directions exactly and I feel sure you'll get good results.

Needed this 8 years ago!

Great product! Use the tablets only!
This is the best product i have come across in a long time. I caught the flu (doctor verified) on wendsday night- felt better by friday. My girlfriend caught the same flu (didn't take zicam) and it lasted about a week. She was miserable. I felt fine. I spent 10.00 on zicam , she spent 15 on antivirus meds. The taste was a little bad but well worth it. The nose spay has some legal issues pending.. but the tab's are fine.

Don't know if they work, but they taste awful!
My sister, an elementary school teacher, recommended this product.I thought the tablets sounded better than the nasal mist or swabs, so I opted for these.I can't tell you if they work, because I only took two, actually not even two, because I had to spit the second one out.I thought they were the worst things ever!Plus, you're not supposed to drink or eat for 15 minutes after, so you can't get the taste out of your mouth.Very bitter.I now have the nasal mist, which seems better, and Airborne liquid, which I'm am hoping will help me fight the cold that everyone in my office seems to have!

It works!! Will save you a lot in doctors visits/antibiotics
I am a full time college student, so getting sick really leaves a dent in my schedule since it can be hard to make up work from missed class once you get behind mid-semester. I started to feel the standard im-gonna-get-sick-soon feeling (scratchy cold throat, stuffy nose). I started taking these every 3 hours as directed. I usually took thwe pill with a little water (even though the directions said you shouldnt) because they do leave a bitter taste, and it still worked fine for me. I definitly noticed that the cold was not only shorter in duration, but much less severe. I felt a little icky for only about half a day, but even that was not very severe. 2 days after I started taking it, I felt normal, but still took Zicam for 2 more days afterwards, as directed.

Also, I noticed that Zicam does help with the symptoms of the cold (makes sore throat feel better, relieves sunus pressure).Since I discovered this product (year and a half now), I have only been sick once and I suspect that was flu related (the directions tell you it will not help for the flu). And again, I live in a dorm, so its hard to avoid sickness. Also, amazon has the lowest price I have seen for this product, so it is definetly a good buy. The only complaint I have is with the oral spray. I find it does not work nearly as well as the tablets for some reason.

Bottom line: If you don't wanna be in bed for a few days with a nasty cold, get this product! Its well worth it! Saves you a possible trip to the doctors plus prescripition medication cost.

They Work
I started taking these at the first sign of a cold, per the instructions, every three hours.After a couple of days, I felt completely better and forgot to continue taking them (48 hours after symptoms have disappeared).I was sneezing like crazy and congested.Started taking them again and was better within 24 hours.

As they are dissolving, they at first taste okay, then almost unbearably nasty, then okay again.A couple of them seemed to not dissolve completely and leave a little white, almost papery lump in my mouth.

Swiss Remedy for Minor Irritations from Coughs
If you are looking for the "Eucalyptus" immediate-if-not sooner sinus clearing Vicks experience, this will more mild in the initial stages and it seems to be almost equally effective by the time you have finished one or two drops.

I think the honey soothing experience may be better for a sore throat experience. The menthol is for pain relief and can help to suppress cough. I find it to be a much milder nasal decongestant than Eucalyptus oil. Although, lately I'm wondering about the safety of ingesting Eucalyptus oil. I've read even small amounts can be toxic. So, I think this Original Ricola drop is much safer because it does not contain Eucalyptus.

Active ingredient: Menthol

Inactive Ingredients: Caramel Color, Elder, Horehound, Hyssop, Lemon Balm, Linden flowers, Mallow, Peppermint, Sage, Thyme, Wild Thyme, Honey, Malic Acid, Natural Cherry Concentrate, Natural Color, Natural Flavors, Starch Syrup, Sugar.

Because this contains Hyssop, I'd not recommend this product to pregnant women, anyone with epilepsy or high blood pressure. Hyssop can be used to relieve colds and fevers. It is also anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antiviral. Horehound is also not recommended for pregnant women. Lemon Balm is not good for anyone who has glaucoma but in general seems to help with anxiety. Linden flower is a remedy used to treat colds, flu and coughs, but is not recommended if you have heart disease.
