Quick and accurate weight; directional indication of fat
I've been using the BF681 since early January and it has worked well for me.The body fat monitor does not claim to provide the same accuracy and precision of, say, water immersion ("hydrodensitometry") or caliper measurements, but it can provide an indication of the direction you're heading from week to week, which is useful information for dieters.If your goal is to precisely know your % body fat, then you should shop for a set of calipers (though good ones can be expensive).If your goal is to monitor your weight loss to make sure you're losing fat and not muscle, then this scale can help you (it has helped me so far).Plus, you can pack it in your suitcase & take it travelling with you.

At this price, accuracy is a given.My scale is accurate.The added features do not add value, however.

The "memory" function simply gives the last previous session's information.Having memory capability should provide at least ten session's information, perhaps more, to provide a meaningful trend.The product description is somewhat misleading in this respect.

The body fat monitor is a) inaccurate and b) inconsistent.The manual even explains that your readings will be different at different times of the day.The best I can say about this feature is that it MAY be helpful giving you a sense of progress provided you only take readings at a specific time of day (mornings are not recommended).Keep in mind that seasonal issues (dry skin in winter, vacation in Hawaii) will alter the monitor's results.

I like Tanita's accuracy--it should be accurate for the price they charge for their scales.Everything else is basically useless in my opinion.I highly recommend you look for a Tanita branded scale that is simply a digital scale.The HD17, even though it has the memory function, appears to provide the same level of accuracy but saves $30+ over the BF681.

Works well for me
We bought this several months back.I got it to help me be inspired to lose a little weight around the middle and my wife is very thin so she likes it to keep track of her body fat %.
It was pretty easy to set up for the 4 of us in our house, even though I had to read the instructions... and with a push of a toe button, a 2 second pause and standing on the pads for a few seconds it gives you lots of information.
My wife likes it and I am completely satisfied with this product after several months use.
I lost about 11 pounds so far, now to get the body fat % under control... :) ... Read more

Has to be worn OVER clothes
A cervical posture band is not meant to be totally comfortable.There has to be enough pressure to pull your shoulders back.But - even though I have narrow shoulders and even when it's a little loose - this one really cuts into my armpits if I wear it against my skin.Doesn't do any good if it's loose, of course.So I wear it over a tee shirt and it does help quite a bit.It even helps relieve my tension headaches!As small as it is, I doubt it would work for a large, or a muscular person.Even the more expensive one I used to have rode up on my back.Didn't seem to make any difference on how it worked.

Uncomfortable
I think this is the kind of thing that is only effective in that, because you are aware that it is there, you may learn to keep your shoulders back.Why are you aware that it's there?Because it's uncomfortable!

Also, it rides up in back so that it ceases to be as effective as when you first put it on.

Does a good job, only one problem...
I've had back problems for a long time, ever since I slipped and fell while I was mopping the floor at my business, "Uncle Joey's Mashed Potato Bar".
I saw this product and thought I would try it out. It works great, really made my back feel better, there's only one problem with it.
Everytime I'm with a lady in an intimate situation, they go to take off my shirt and feel it. Before I have time to explain that it's a brace, not a bra, they normally are out the door. I would suggest this product to people who are happily in a relationship. However, if you are single, I would recomend just dealing with the pain till you settle down.

Worked very well for me
The brace did wonders for me!I have had back pain since I was 13, and this is the only product that finally gave me releif!

However... I can see why some people would have problems.It is far too uncomfortable to wear against your skin, I wear an undershirt beneath it.You cannot be lazy, while it is far easier to have good posture with this brace, you still have to make sure it is pulling your shoulders *back and not *up.I also noticed it riding up my neck, but it didn't bother me so much, my back still felt good.

Notice that the connector is a bra connector.My boyfriend didn't want to wear it because he thought people would think he was wearing a bra.I think some men might find this product embarrassing.Also, it's pretty small, and it wasn't even close to fitting him, and he's not that wide.

I had a very good experience, but this product is definitely not for everyone.I suppose a lot depends on what exactly is wrong with your posture.If you tend to arch your shoulders forward, like me, it's wonderful!But if you tend to slouch, it might not be so good.

TERRIBLE
The arm straps are very tight and press hard upwards against your armpits. It feels like it's cutting off circulation to your arm. The material is also kind of rough so there's a burning feeling wherever there's pressure/contact. It leaves marks on your skin after wearing it for only a few minutes.

It's also very hard to wear it like the picture. The band wants to crawl upwards to your neck, which in turn would pull your neck down, and hurt your posture!

I'm just a average built guy, but I tend to slouch. So I think most people would experience the same difficulty with this as I did. The only reason I bought this was because I was intrigued after seeing it on a Sky Mall Catalog. I couldn't find any customer reviews for it, so I took a chance and bought one (for under $10). I guess the lesson is: you get what you pay for.

excellent all around
I got my scale today and it got here in fine shape.Amazon must have read the other reviews because it was packed in a box inside of a box and it worked fine right off.I have hard wood floors and the beauty of the wood shows thru the glass making the scale almost a piece of comtemporary sculpture.Multiple steppings on produce almost identical results-- a rare difference in tenths only.One thing of note, the instructions say to tap the lower right corner with the foot to wake it up.I needed almost a stomp.So a little experimentation and I found the tapping spot is the upper right corner not lower right.I just got it today so if it keeps working this good it'll be around for a long long time.I'm not trying to lose weight-- Actually I'm trying to gain weight--I know-Oh poor me.But, the scale reads a about 1.5 pounds lighter than my old scale so you might lose a little just opening the box.

Unreliable - Stopped working after 3 months
Ordered this from Amazon... was kind of pain to get it to come on out of box and occassionaly would get error.Scale was accurate, but after about 3 months of use it wont come on at all now... its completely dead... I have tried replacing the battery.. still dead. Tried contacting Tanita via Email...and have received no repsonse. Based on other reviews there appears to be a problem with this model... and since it also appears Tanita doesnt have the integrity to own up... all friends and family are getting my thumb down on any Tanita scales.And I think Amazon should pull this from their web site as they are obviously defective. I guess I will get a Soehnle scale.. maybe they are more reliable.

So inspite of one customer feedback that his scale didn't work
right out of the box. I bought it. Guess what? mine also didn't work initially ,when it did . It shows "ERR".

DOA
Received Dead on Arrival.I checked the battery with a multimeter and it was working just fine.I couldn't get this scale to do anything.

Consistent Readings
I replaced my Taylor digital bathroom scale with this Tanita because I was tired of seeing my weight fluctuate so much with the Taylor (my weight could change 3 lbs. in a matter of minutes; plus the Taylor weighed me 4-5 pounds more than other scales).

Its big and sturdy enough to weigh just about anything. Ever tried to weigh a big dog at home? Pick up the dog and stand on the scale read the weight. Very disappointed.
I bought this unit in January of 2002. I was satisfied at first, using it once or twice a week. It seemed to work as advertised. Within six weeks of puchase the digital display started losing portions of the characters, finally to the point that it became unusable. I followed the warranty instructions and sent the entire paakage back to Lumiscope along with a check for [money] fro return shipping and handling. My biggest complaint is that I cannot get any information from this company in regards to the "possible" return of my unit repaired or replaced. It has been gone for approximately six weeks. I have sent numerous e-mails to their service department. I have made numerous phone calls and left messages for their service department,(they won't answer the phone, voice mail only). I have not received one response. You would think that this company would at least have the courtesy to let you know that they have the product you puchased from them in some type of system and respond to their "customer" with some type of expectation that they are working on your issue. Nothing!!

At this point due to health issues, I have given up and will have to purchase something else, NOT FROM LUMISCOPE!!

Bottom line, don't waste your time or money on this companies products. They are not good for your blood pressure.

Lumiscope 1080: Not Exactly "Old Reliable"
It was with some enthuisiam and a blood pressure reading of 133/90 that I opened my Lumiscope 1080 Blood Pressure monitor and started to read the directions to program it. After reading the manual that didn't seem to apply to my machine and finding with some annoyance that I was totally unable to dis-able the beeping alarm feature to remind you to take your blood pressure every day, my own climbed just a tad. My husband, whose blood pressure that never exceeds 120/75 even when reading vague little manuals for electronic gadgets, programmed the settings for me.

I used it daily for just over 3 months, finding it easy enough to use and accurate when tested against my doctor's office machine. (I set the annoying beeper alarm to the middle of the day so it would rouse my dogs from slumber and nudge their blood pressure just a bit. The only thing was that the days I was at home, the beeper always managed to startle me when I was trying to take a nap.) The read-out display screen was easy to read but the 30 day graph display so small as to make me run around looking for a magnifying glass - which would have helped raise my heart rate, but unnecessarily use up too much of my limited spare time for exercise.

A few weeks ago, just as I was marvelling at the results of a healthier life-style on my blood pressure, the batteries seemingly ran out. Two changes of batteries succeeded only in allowing partially visible read-outs and obviously wrong readings (90/60, I don't think so!, and )I realized it was not working at all. After rummaging for a box,scrambling through the manual for the service center address,... and rushing to the post office before sprinting for the train, my blood pressure has gone up more than a few points, especially since I couldn't find the receipt and had to get a copy of my credit card bill. I did a little research with the nurse at my doctor's office before buying this. Great scale, great buy

Economic!
This is among the relatively cheap analog scales you can ever find online. Very handsome and neat. The color is white and the size is pretty compact.
Overall, the scale gives you similar results after you zero it right before your first use. Yet the spring inside is a little bit loose - it takes pretty long time for it to return to zero after you've stepped out of the surface, increasing the risk of the change of the initial reading from 0 to a few pounds more or less than it. In average, you have to rezero the scale every 7 or 8 readings...
Luckily, the adjusting device is handy and easy to control: the control is at the right hand side of the scale. Once you rezero it, the scale will give you more or less the same reading you got. Nice and useful scale for only $8! ... Read more

If you don't know when you ovulate, buy these...they work!
My cycles are long (35-38 days).We had been trying to get pregnant for 6 months, but shooting way too early in my cycle missing the fertile window.I bought these strips last month, got a positive 2 days in a row 3 weeks into my cycle and we did our thing the second positive day.Happy to say I'm 5 weeks prego today!

Shipping to Canada
These strips were a great bargain over the ones available in Canada(which cost about $55 CAN for 5-9 strips). I bought 10 OPK strips and 2 pregnancy test strips for $21 CAN. Just be aware that it took about 3 weeks for them to arrive, so if you're in a hurry buy the horribly overpriced ones at Shoppers Drug Mart or pick up a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler--it's a great resource on natural signals of fertility (ovulation).

Not a bad cheap test.
I tried these and my only complaint is that even when positive the line isn't much different then the test line.It is clearly not as dark when negative and I used BBT to verify ovulation. The tests do work and are easy to use.No instructions are included in the package but a web site is given on the invoice that has them.

One little tip...I tried was using them as a mid stream since I find the whole cup thing a bit unsavory.I found I was able to do it and get the same results regardless.I don't know what the manufacturer would say to that, but it saves money on using the mid stream version of the test.

Good product, not so efficient delivery
The product itself was great, easy to use and very reasonably priced.I would hesitate to order these again from this distributor and Amazon however, because of the length of time it took to receive the product.Not at all prompt, as advertised, and I was able to find another site online that had the same pricing, but with much more efficient delivery.

Worked well for me!
These Ovulation Test Strips do not come with instructions; however, in the package the company gives the web address where you can find the instructions (obviously if you bought them online you have access to the internet). The directions on their website, Ovulation-Predictor, are simple enough for ANYONE to follow.

My own experience with these was excellent. They are just as good as the expensive brands, but at a better price.

Monitoring my BP in San Jose CA
It's a pretty good deal for the price. I have a hard time hearing my heartbeat "thump" thru the stethoscope so I had a friend try it. She said the sound was a bit faint but she was able to take the reading on the first try. That's the only drawback to this product that I can see. I'm sure that with more practice I will be able to do it myself so I am going to keep trying. It's simple to use and one person (yourself) can do it.
I think it's a great way monitor your blood pressure and to watch for significant changes so you can alert your doctor before it's too late.

Quality looks good, but cuff is way too small
The size limitation is not listed on the Amazon site, but accordingto the Lumiscope help line this model is limited to arm circumferences 12.5" or less.That's too small for an adult male with average musculature.I'm no muscle-man but my arm is 13" around the biceps, and the cuff was not even close to big enough.I had to return mine to Amazon.

This is a nice set; cheap enough, the right essentials, and simple.I do not use the BP moniter itself however, I bought the set for the stethoscope.Reason being, it's near impossible to find a stethoscope by itself now adays.Anyways, the stethoscope is simple but effective; my heartbeat sounds clear and I can hear my breathing very well.The leather case is a nice touch, and I always keep my steth in there.I recommend this set to anyone, not just needing a BP moniter, but to anyone who might be interested in this sort of thing; I am.If you have no need for the moniter, the stethoscope is still fun to have. ...
