5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
I would recommend this pedometer to anyone. I have found it to be very accurate. And it really does work if you carry it in a bag/purse that you hold up against yourself. I don't think you'll find anything better for a comparable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best one I've had
I've unfortunately gone through a number of pedometers - lost one on a plane, another fell off in a parking lot, and a third one just fell apart. This Omron is fantastic - accurate count, easy to use, and the tether is great - no more having to worry about losing it because the clip didn't work.I'll be putting it to the test in a couple weeks but expect fantastic results based on the testing around the house and neighorhood. Very user friendly - including the printed instructions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps me steppin' out!
This is my second pedometer. The first one (which I still own, but the battery died and it went into a drawer where it still resides) was one purchased from Weight Watchers. It worked OK, but had this VERY annoying little "clicking" noise every time I moved - highly annoying to those of us who don't tolerate repetitive noises well!

I did, however, want to resume tracking my daily steps so set about reading reviews, both on this site and others.Well, I decided to purchase the Omron HJ-112 and I am VERY glad I did!

I've had it since February and it is on my waistband or in my pocket from the time I get dressed in the morning to the time I hit the hay at night. It is totally NOISELESS and I find it not only accurate, but also motivating - it truly makes me WANT to get up and move around more just to see the numbers go UP!I like that it can be set via one easy button to show mileage, steps, aerobic steps or calories - and that it stores all that data for 7 days.

My honey's birthday is in July and he has already said HE wants one also!It will make a great gift for him - he hikes a lot and this way he can track his mileage.

    I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate within 1/100 of a mile with an extra setup "step"
I did the initial stride length set-up as listed in the instruction booklet. Then I dropped the pedometer in my pocket, along with a pen and notecard, and headed out to a trail that had mile markers. As I walked, I noted the pedometer steps and mileage at each marker. The number of steps for each mile was within 5 steps, but the mileage was shorter than it should have been--reading about .75 per mile, instead of 1.0. When I got home, using my notes, I recalculated my stride based on the steps for 6 miles. Since then, I've always been within 0.01 miles of the mile markers! Because it works accurately in my pocket, it goes everywhere with me. I've been amazed at the number of steps (and miles!) I log just working around the house and yard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent pedometer
I've been using this pedometer for about a month, and I find it rugged, pretty accurate, able to discriminate very well between routine walking in the home or office and aerobic walking. The set up is simple, the buttons easy to use, and I like the feature that remembers the previous few days while zeroing itself each new day. Also, the numbers are easy to read, and the lanyard invaluable for keeping you from loosing it.And yes, it DOES work in my pocket.A great improvement over the chintzy little blue pedometer I had before.I highly recommend the Omron HJ112! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tanita scale is well worth the money.
After reading the review for the Tanita BC533 Glass Innerscan Body Compositon Monitor in the U.S. News & World Report, May 16, 2005, we decided to buy one.The scale is well worth the price, $119.99, for it provides so much more information than just weight. It calculates body fat and water percentages, visceral fat (the amount of fat around the organs), bone mass, metabolic age (the average age associated with your metabolism), a physique rating, and an estimate of daily calories to maintain your current state.

This scale is a real motivator to get into shape.Everyone who has tried the scale wants to eat healthier and can't wait to get back onto the scale to see the results. It is a real eye opener!

5-0 out of 5 stars Tanita BC533 measures weight, body fat and so much more!
For many years I used a digital scale that gave me a different readout each time I used it. I like to weigh daily but found that stepping up and down on the scale several times to get an average weight was frustrating. I thought that was the norm with scales until I started reading scale reviews and discovered that many people found the Tanita line to be accurate. If they weighed several times in a row they got a consistent readout. They did not have to take an average as I did with my Health-O-Meter. As a treat to myself, for losing 10 pounds, I decided to purchase a Tanita and after doing some research opted for the Tanita BC533.

The Tanita BC533 is a state of the art scale that measures your weight (to two-tenths of a pound), body fat, visceral fat, bone mass, metabolic age and muscle mass. It is very simple to operate. You input your height, weight, average physical activity level and age. The Tanita will remember this information for up to four people so you only have to do it once, unless your information changes. (There is also a guest mode if a visitor wants to try it.) Once you have programmed the scale you toe tap your number, step on the platform and you will see your weight and body fat measurement. (Note - If you wear socks the body fat measurement will not work.) Then you can toe tap other buttons of your choice. A little figure gives you a visual cue as to what the buttons are. For example for muscle mass the figure is holding weights. For bone mass there is a tiny skeleton inside the figure. You decide which body composition features you wish to check. You may for example want to check your bone mass once a month, or then again you may want to check it weekly. It's up to you. It's as simple as pressing the corresponding button, and takes only seconds.

Tanita has also introduced the Ironman Innerscan line. I was not sure of the difference so I called customer service. Amber went out of her way to explain the benefits of the Innerscan line, and the basic difference between the regular Innerscan and the Ironman. The Ironman gives you your BMI or basal metabolic caloric rate. This is the basic number of calories your body needs. The regular Innerscan (like the BC533) gives you your DCI instead. The DCI is a calculation where the BMI is multiplied by your activity level to tell you the number of calories you are taking in to maintain the weight you are. When you see this information you can then adjust up or down to help you gain or lose weight or stay the same. Nifty!

Tanita includes a guide with the scale that explains exactly how the scale works. The scale is a bioimpedence device. A low level current (which you don't feel) passes through your body and the impedance or resistance level is used to calculate body composition. The booklet explains healthy ranges of body fat and also explains what body water percentage, visceral fat, etc. mean.

The scale is also very attractive. Sleek styling and easy to use. Those with poor vision may find the buttons a little hard to see. But the visual clues will help. Despite the glass surface the scale stays very clean.

The BC533 is an outstanding tool to help you accomplish your health goals! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Unit
Like so many other reviewers, I'd have to say that the measurements correlate fairly well with the readings by my local doctor's office.

A couple of things to remember:

You have to align the arm band correctly to get an accurate reading.

The unit only goes up to 150 on the pressure scale while inflating, other units are adjustable between 140-160-180.It's a comfort thing, 150 is fine for me.

Panasonic does a good job with this technology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and easy to use.
I just got this monitor but its simple and easy. It comes with good instructions and tells you exactly where to place it on your arm. It can be used right or left, sitting or laying down and remembers 21 checks for two differnt people although I use the chart it came with to wright down my weight and what reading it gives. It has lights that are red , yellow and green that come on when done but I always look at the screen although its nice to look over and see the green lights. I take medication for my blood pressure and I trust in the Panasonic name. This monitor also has a holder on the back so everything is nice and neat. Im no expert but for the average joe like me its great.

5-0 out of 5 stars A real life saver!
I read the reviews here and decided to purchase this product. I took it to my physicians office and it proved to be very accurate. I began using it at home, and it showed my normally low blood pressure of six months ago had sky rocketed. With the monitors ability to record your blood pressure findings, it saved me from further tests. I just took it with me to my Dr.'s appt. so she could review, and set up a treatment plan. An easy way to divert a possible disaster!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good BP monitor but...
My normally stable blood pressure for some reason shot up and I was put on medicine and told to watch it.I needed a blood pressure meter.I checked the ratings on Amazon and found this one which seemed to have the most favorable ratings.I wasn't disappointed when it came.
It's easy to use.Just push a big yellow button. My previous one from years ago got more error readings than it gave correct ones. This one has had only one in two months.
You can use it on either arm. This is nice because I can check it's accuracy that way.I brought it to my doctors office and compaired with a manual reading and it was correct.
There are two other big save buttons for saving readings. So two people can save their results.
What about the but. While on the phone with my doctor he wanted some of my past readings and I could go back thorugh those I saved but there is no date or time stamp. After a while it gets hard to remember if 17 was Tuesday morning or Monday night. To complicate matters it doesn't save it unless you push one of the save buttons. So you can't tell if you forgot to save a reading.
I found this meter to be simple and accurate but if you really want to monitor your pressure you still need paper and pencil to use this unit.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great device...
Recently, when my doctor told me that I had mild hypertension, I decided to purchase a blood pressure monitor for my home so that I could monitor my readings myself, hopefully easily. This device has completely met my needs.I didn't want to spend a fortune on a monitor, but I did want a quality machine that was easy to use and accurate.Using this Panasonic blood pressure monitor, it is very easy to measure my pressure and pulse readings, and the results seem very accurate compared to what I have received at my doctor's office. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the machine works flawlessly.Highly recommended! ... Reviews (22)

4-0 out of 5 stars Clearly showed ovulation, but question accuracy of temps
Charting the temperatures taken by this thermometer clearly showed me which day I ovulated. It was also clear which day my next cycle would start because of the drop in temperature.I'm not sure how accurate the individual temperatures are though.Every sample BBT chart I am able to find, including the one that comes with the thermometer, has 96.9 as the lowest possible temperature. My pre-ovulation temp was usually lower than that (96.2 - 96.6).The instructions state that you should have three consecutive hours of sleep before taking your waking temperature and I rarely sleep that well.Perhaps this is the cause of my low temperatures.I've also read that basal thermometers should measure hundredths and this one only measures tenths. At any rate, my cycle has a clear trend so the themometer does its job.

When you turn on the thermometer, a light comes on and the previous temperature that was taken and stored in memory is displayed. The light then goes off and you can take your temperature. The thermometer beeps while measuring your temp.It usually beeps about ten to fifteen times for me and then a long beeping sound lets me know it is done.At this point, you can press the button, the light comes on and your temperature is displayed. The thermometer then turns off.It will automatically turn off later if you forget. The beeping does not wake my husband and since I take my temperature very early (around 4:30 AM when it is still dark), I find that the beeps help to keep me awake.

5-0 out of 5 stars i can't believe anyone would complain about the beeping!
if this beeping wakes your husband up or prevents you from falling back asleep i pray to god you don't have traffic going down your street in the morning!a passing car would make more noise than this thermometer!great buy, i've checked it against my glass thermometer and it's very accurate and fast.highly recomended.

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY Annoying Thermometer
This thermometer drives me & my husband crazy! It beeps constantly while it's taking the temperature, concluding with a series of rapid beeps. I miss my old thermometer that beeped only once at the end.

I usually wake up for the first time in the morning a couple of hours before our alarm goes off, and I take my temperature then. With our previous thermometer it was no big deal to do it that way, but this noisy thermometer wakes us both up and we have trouble falling back asleep afterwards.

Definitely avoid this thermometer if constant beeping noises bother you first thing in the morning!

5-0 out of 5 stars a great little tool
I bought this thermometer about a month ago and have been using it to take my basal body temperature every morning. I think it is a wonderful product. Although some reviews said the beep was annoying, I think it is actually a very important feature. It beeps to let you know it is placed correctly. I sure like the peace of mind when I hear that. The display is lit and very easy to read.

I can not believe that someone said she had to run into bathroom to check her temp, because she did not want to wake her husband. Come on! The beep is not loud at all. And..didn't she know that basal temp should be taken the first thing in the morning without any unnecessary movements? I think husbands should actually help wives take basal temp by inserting the thermometre into their wives' mouths. This way, we can reduce our movements to minimum! My husband does this for me everyday!

One more suggestion for those who want to keep your latest result in the thermometre's memory for more than one reviewing. Whenever you turn on the thermometre to review the result, turn it off BEFORE the display begins to flash. After it flashes, it will become blank and ready for your next test. Your last temp will not be there any more. As long as you shut it off before it flashes, your latest result will always be there till you take your basal temp next time.

By the way, 1/10 degree F is precise enough for basal temp. Non-basal temp thermometres are 2/10. 1/100 is not necessary at all since on basal temp chart, we only record like 97.6, 98.2...

Hope this helps. I like this thermometre very much. Hope you will like it too.

5-0 out of 5 stars I've had 2 and LOVE them
If you are going to chart, you NEED a reliable basal body therm. This one is my personal favorite. I like how it beeps to let me know it is in the right place and when it is done.
Those who prefer to drift back to sleep after temping or have a hubby who sleeps lightly may not like it as well though ... Read more

It is accurate and repeatable. I compared it several times to a manual instrument. Both agreed within a couple of points each time. It takes about 30 seconds for a measurement. The test ranges for me are: Systolic 115 - 140 mm Hg and Diastolic: 70 -90 mm Hg

Wrist Positioning: You can position your wrist at the heart level using the same method used during the pledge of allegiance.I find this technique reliable and has given me outstanding repeatability in readings. Not only it eliminates the need to support the elbow since the arm is resting on your chest, but is very comfortable.

This device might look like a scale, but it presents a broader snapshot of personal health by not only determining weight, but estimating body fat as well. It does this by sending a safe, imperceptible, low-level electrical pulse (50 kHz) through the body. (Healthcare professionals use similar electrical-pulse devices to estimate body fat by what is known as Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, or BIA.) The device operates on four AA batteries (included), and its digital screen displays body-fat readings in 0.1 percent increments and weight in either0.2 pound increments, up to 300 pounds or 136 kg.

The scale stores data for two users and a simple toe-tap calls up your data before stepping on the device. Within seconds, it displays your weight, followed by an estimate of body-fat percentage. Both will repeat before the device turns off automatically. Durable and easy to maintain, the device carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars If you have small feet BEWARE of this scale!
I have relatively small feet (size 5.5 shoes). For an accurate measure on this scale, either weight or body fat, you need to have full contact of your feet on both the front and back sensors.I've found that impossible due to the size of the scale compared to the size of my feet.So if you have small feet you might want to look for another model/brand.

I've also found that the body fat % is fairly inaccurate and tends to fluctuate even during the day. After some research, I discovered that most people find their weight to be closest to "true" weight if they weigh first thing in the morning and their body fat % to be closest to the "true" % when they weigh last thing at night. It seems that the body fat % varies according to how hydrated your body is...and evening weighs (greater hydration than in the morning) seem to be more accurate.

4-0 out of 5 stars Scale Works Well -- If You Bother to Follow the Directions
Anyone who peruses the reviews for this scale will see that users give high marks for measuring pounds, but mixed marks on measuring body fat percentage. If people bother to read the directions that come with the scale, they will see warnings not to use the body fat feature on first waking up in the morning, since the body is dehydrated at this time and the measurement will be skewed. Also, the directions also suggest that people should pick a consistent time of day to use the body fat scale and that this time should reflect a consistent, stable body state -- i.e., no extremes in hydration, over or underabundance of food, etc. When used by these guidelines, the body fat reading will provide consistent readings that will allow you to track increases and decreases in body fat percentage.I can't say for certain that the percentage on the screen is 100% accurate, since the methods scientists use to measure body fat accurately are expensive, time consuming and not convenient on a daily basis. What I can say, if used properly you will get fairly good baseline figure and a good accurate track of the upward and downward movement of your body fat percentage.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this BF680
I've had this scale for a few months now, and I'm very impressed with it.Like most people have said, it is very accurate for weight.I use it every day (for the past few months) and I can tell you that this scale has been ridiculously consistent.Because it is accurate, I can be confident in any progress I make.

It is easy to setup, it only took a few minutes to put in my information and it saves it.

Measuring your bodyfat and/or weight are both quick and easy.Just get on the scale and wait 5 seconds.

There are buttons that you flick with your toe before getting on.They are big and easy to depress.

It has the option for weight only if you don't want to get your bodyfat percentage.

It stores your previous weight and bodyfat measurement. After you get a new weight and bodyfat measurement, you can press the little "up" arrow button to get your previous measurments.

The bodyfat % feature gets a bum rap because as you know most people don't bother to read the instruction manual. It's true that actual % fluctuates depending on when you measure yourself. The variance in a day for me is about 2%, BUT, it's because your not supposed to measure your bodyfat in the morning.

The manual says that you should wait a) 3 hours after waking up, b) 3 hours after eating, and c) 3 hours after excercise before measuring your bodyfat using the scale. The best time for me then is after I get home from work and before I go to the gym.At the same time of the day, assuming I hadn't eating anything within the few hours before getting home, the scale gives me a CONSISTENT reading on my bodyfat percentage (which is always lower than when I wake up). When I measure myself in the morning, my bodyfat is CONSISTENTLY 2% higher, but I know this is wrong because you're not supposed to measure your bodyfat until 3 hours after you wake up.

The bottom line. After following the instructions, I have found the bodyfat measurements to be fairly consistent. The weight measurements are extremely consistent.

This isn't a cheap piece of machinery, this is a high quality device. For this reason I would highly recommend it.

(and as for people complaining about the athlete mode.Stop pretending you're an "athlete" by Tanita's definition. An "athlete" would be a person who is physically active in excercise for 10 or more hours a week.If you excercise a lot, but not 10 hours, and do some recreational sports, you are not going to use "athlete mode".I would think that a college or professional athlete, maybe even high school might be able to use this "athlete" mode if they had a practice every day and/or games making up the 10+ hours a week.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointingly imprecise body fat measurements
This scale has two modes, one for athletes and one for non-athletes.My experience using this scale on individuals at a variety of fitness levels indicates that these two modes give body fat readings that differ by about 7 percentage points on the same individual at the same time (e.g., a reading of 10% body fat in athlete mode, but a reading of 17% body fat in non-athlete mode). It stands to reason that as a person, through an intense exercise program, makes the transition from being a "non-athlete" to being an "athlete", the body fat reading will, of necessity, be off by at least 3.5 percentage points either immediately before or immediately after he/she changes categories (since a person's actual body fat will not make instantaneous jumps). And, of course, this small number of percentage points corresponds to a relative error of 30 or 40% or more.It seems to me that many, if not most, people could just guess their body fat with more accuracy than that.Yes, this scale seems to do fine at measuring weight, but there are a lot cheaper ways of getting accurate weight measurements.

If you're considering starting a new exercise and diet program to improve your fitness:great! You will almost certainly not regret the work you put into such a program. If you're considering this body fat monitor as a substantial aid for you in this program, think again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent health tool
I am one of the few lightweights out there actually trying to gain weight. I want to gain lean muscle mass, and not fat. This scale helps me easily keep track of my progress.

I have heard a few people complain about the accuracy of the fat % measurment on this scale. Accurate or not, I have found it to be incredibly consistent. Weighing myself three times in a row will yield the same percent each time.

If I follow the instructions and weigh myself before meals, etc, over the course of the week I can accurately determine if I am going up or down. What an incredible health tool. I wish I would have known about this years ago! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Could have been good but dimmed out....
Well I was all ready to give this product a decent review but ends up it isn't worth it. It is hard to open but I can live with that. Some of the buttons are not that responsive as you can't flip back and forth from distance to steps to calories that easy. It seems not to like that very much. However it was doing the job. I tested it out several times and it was only off by a couple of steps on each test. On average though it was very accurate. No phantom steps and no counting while i was sitting. I would test 100 steps at a time and it came within 1-5 steps. This made me happy asthis is what I bought it for. So why only 2 stars? Well as soon as it reached 1000 steps the readout went extremely dim. I switched modes and it was fine but when I went back to steps it was dim again. I reset it to 0 and it was ok again. I ran a few tests and each time it went over 999 it dimmed out to a point where I couldn't tell what the numbers were. did I walk 2340 steps or 3246 steps? Now that is a big difference. Now put that big issue with the smaller ones and this product just doesn't cut it. Too bad because it was accurate, light, and compact. I'm taking it back and trying another product. With all the other bad reviews the chances of you picking a good one looks 50/50. This company has to really look at this product because selling something with a track record like this is not right.

2-0 out of 5 stars indestructible!!
I threw it out the window, ran over it with my car, beat it with a hammer, put it down the garbage grinder and it just will not cease to exist.Sure, it doesn't work anymore... but it never did!The thing would add a hundred steps if I just looked at it the wrong way.If I actually tried to use it while walking, it informed me that I had travelled to the moon and back while driving over to get a take-out pizza.Listen, a lot of reviewers seem to be excusing the shabbiness of the product by extolling its price. In that case, yeah, the rock I found on the beach doesn't keep very good time but you can't beat the price!I mean listen, people, if you are happy with a pedometer mostly because you paid little for it, you need to admit that you are just a cheapskate. If you are not interested in accuracy, why measure at all?And pedometers are notoriously inaccurate, despite what their manufacturers would have you believe. For one thing, you can blow me with that stride length malarkey.A person's stride length is in a state of flux and is especially not well represented by the stiff, self-conscious steps you take when you are trying to determine your stride length.Ever hear of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, baby doll?Well, I don't wanna get too technical on you.The whole pedometer concept is for the birds, you dig?If you cheapskates are serious about measuring distance, why don't you open that wallet that makes a sound like a creaking door in an old horror movie and bats fly out of it and once you have cleared away the cobwebs, take out your credit card and place an order for a Polar or Nike SDM.That's Speed and Distance Monitor. These are accurate to 97% even without calibration. But, oh, prepare yourself for a coronary:they cost a little more than the pedometer you got at McDonalds with your Happy Meal.Sorry.

3-0 out of 5 stars not very accurate
I just got this pedometer. I have tested it while walking. On its lowest setting it overestimates my steps by about 5 to 10 percent. I have tested it about 10 times each time taking more than 100 steps outdoors. Everytime it has overestimated by that much. I am not very happy about it.
Well now after 3 weeks of use it has stopped functioning right. It now overestimates my steps by around 30 to 40 percent. I am going to give it back.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Difficult to Open
I've got blisters on my thumb from trying to open this pedometer.

I have suspicions that it isn't really accurate, but I can't tell
because I can't get the thing open.(I'd like to check it several
times a day, but my thumb hurts.Ouch!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Great scale, lots of information
My SC-560 took over six weeks to arrive, too, and I wonder if it was due to high demand following a glowing review of the model in "Prevention" magazine. That review was what inspired me to get this particular scale, and I doubt I was the only one.

This scale gives you so much more information than just your weight (in increments of 0.2 pounds); it displays body fat percentage, body weight percentage, and estimated daily caloric requirement to maintain your current weight. This may be too much info for some people who just want a quick weight reading, although it does that, too.

The reason I am not rating the scale more highly is that I find the LCD display a bit small for comfortable reading. The "low/normal/moderate/high" indicator is practically invisible. Also, the scale would not work for me at first -- I was on the verge of calling Homedics customer service when I thought to remove the 9-volt battery and reinstall it, after which it seemed to work just fine. Finally, I find the "Ideal" weight and caloric requirement that the scale suggests to be confusing.I feel I could stand to lose a few pounds yet it tells me I should be heavier than I am.Hmmmmm.....

If you want this model, the price here at Amazon is by far the best I found anywhere online.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, excellent product
The Omron HBF-306 is very simple to use. Because it uses electrical resitance and calculated "wing span" to measure BF%, it's possible (due to differences in arm length) that your reading may not be 100% accurate compared to a clinical "immersion" test. However, it is definitely consistent! I also have caliper type pinchers and found them too inconsistent (unless you can pinch the same exact spot each time).

With the Omron HBF-306, you can easily track changes in your body fat % as you progress through your fitness training. You'll be able to easily tell if your losing fat and/or gaining muscle by monitoring your BF% along with your weight. Check your weight and body fat % first thing in the morning for the most consistent readings. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and accurate
Very consistent and accurate for the money.Sensitive to minor weight fluctuations when I weigh myself with and without 1 to 5 pound hand weights.I am unable to induce the scale into giving false readings. Standing to far off center (heel to toe direction) will throw it off up to 0.4 pounds.Outside of that it's a very repeatable scale.I like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
Never had a problem with it.Once in a while my daughter will press my button and step on the scale so next time I get on it shows my previous weight at 53.0 pounds !That's an eye opener first thing in the morning.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best scale ever
This scale is true to form and never off [it is the doctor's office -- with all who use it every day -- is the scale that's off].It stores past weight, measures to the ounce and I've only had to change the batteries once in a year!Absolutely recommend!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars not accurate
I bought this scale and had it for about a week.I found that it gave me very different readings, one right after the other, by as much as 2-3 pounds. This was disappointing, and I have returned it.Perhaps it was just this unit, though I am hesitant to try it again. However, I did like the function of showing the last reading, and my children each had their own button.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleased with Amazon
I returned the first scale sent to me by Amazon, and asked for a replacement. The first scale varied at each memory key, and even on the same key by 1/2 pound. The new scale is quite accurate, within .2 pound.I am very pleased with the replaced scale and with the return policy of ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My doctor liked it
I don't own one now, but I did years back.It was the last BP monitor that I owned and I haven't had one for a few years since it broke after I'd had it for five years (cuff wore out and burst).Shame on me for not self monitoring for so long.I'm starting a drug regimen that might upset my BP control, so I need to start monitoring again, and I'm shopping for a new device.

When I used this, I took it to my doctor's to check its accuracy every time I went and I always found it to be on the money. My internist at the time, an old guy, was fascinated by it.I'm surprised that so many people had problems with its accuracy. As for fit, I had the opposite problem--I have big hands and fingers and sometimes had to twist my finger around in the cuff to get it to agree to inflate with it adjusted all the way out.The only person I ran across that it wouldn't work for was my grandmother, who was ill, bedridden and emaciated.

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless...
I bought this in September...moitored my heart for four months only to find that the doctor's office is the only reliable monitor. I was getting consistent readings of 110/68...when my actual blood pressure is 140/94......Hmmmmm!!!

This toy is useless enough to give you ...high blood pressure! Any thoughts on how I can return it and get my money back would be appreciated.

    1-0 out of 5 stars DOESN'T WORK
We tried testing 4 different people several times with this blood pressure monitor and everyone the reading wasn't accurate. All the readings were so low that you would be dead if they were accurate.Do not buy this item.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy accuracy, nice function
Any of these finger units are notoriously inaccurate. I've tried 2 including this one. I went back to a self inflating arm cuff unit. The accuracy STINKS and is very errattic. Anyone who tells you different has an agenda. Ask your doctor. Compare at your doctors. Whatever. Then add that experience with your own. When you do it 3 times and the reading is all over the place but your arm cuff is derad on, what's your conclusion?

5-0 out of 5 stars My doctor loved it !
I took my model 1083 to the doctor's office the other day and compared it's results with the result from the measurement taken with the doctor's wall mounted hand pump. To my surprise the 1083 came within 3 points of the doctor's measurement. Not bad for an electronic gadget. The 1083 is small, easy to use and very accurate. Try it, I think you will like it. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Wrist monitor review
I just purchased the EW3002 but I should have purchased the EW3032S, which is the same unit with step up features. If you notice both have the same price - so why not buy the EW3032S.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate Wrist BP Monitor
I agree with Mr White about the accuracy of this model. It is very easy to use if you hold the hand agaist the chest with fingers touching the collar bone. This ensures the monitor level with the heart. This technique eliminates the need for elbow support. Thus, readings can be taken anywhere.

It is also comfortable and compact. Good for those who want to carry it while travelling.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy read and accurate
I ran this wrist sphyg with a mercury certified unit and the readings were almost exactly the same. Most products from Panasonic are quality and I have not found yet that begs a difference from that advertised. Only problem I had was the way the unit faces, away from direct vision so learn to read it sideways. This product is several hundred dollars less than a pro cuff, is quick and not uncomfortable to use at all....

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice unit, but
I really liked the design and size of the unit, but it was just not accurate.I have been monitoring my blood pressure for years and it has never been low. This unit gave me low readings most of the time.I liked the readings, but I know they were not true.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product for the price
I bought it from Amazon and I have no complaints on this so far.
Personally I believe that wrist BP monitoring is only for indicatory purpose. This unit worked fine when I followed instrcutions correctly. And I noticed a variation if the arm is too low or not rested and positioned correctly. Overall, I am happy about the functonality of the product.
I am re-writing this.... When I compared readings of this monitor with professional manual readings, this operatus always showed normal readings. In a way this piece is smartly cheated me to believe that it is working perfect. How do we know until we compare withe other readings. I returned this to Amazon and trying to call back 4 stars I have given..... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the One
After reading a gazillion reviews of different scales I got this one and it is perfect, out of the box. It got to Hawaii intact. No set up required. No learning curve. Fast read out. VERY accurate; I track it against scales at Weight Watchers and at the health club.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this scale
I was looking for a beautiful scale that would a) be accurate and precise and b) complement the decor of a modern bathroom. It does both.I know I read many reviews before selecting this scale. All of my family members (and even a few of our guests) have tried it out and have really liked it, both as a scale and as a fashion statement. It is really sleek, yet solid. We recommend it highly.I would even buy this one again.I don't buy the butter theory of another reviewer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate and precise
I am, for better or worse, a compulsive weigher.I hop on the scale every morning to track my weight, and I even keep a spreadsheet to graph my dieting progress. What can I say?I'm nuts!

I was frustrated with my old digital scale because it constantly asked to be recalibrated (to no effect, apparently) and gave me readings that differed by as much as 2 pounds or more when I weighed myself time after time in the morning. It got so bad that the hot water in my shower would sometimes run out while I tried and tried to get the stupid scale to show me the same number twice in a row!I even tried to weigh my standard 5-pound dumbbell to see if I was just crazy-- my scale told me it weighed 4.2 pounds; then 5.2; then 4.8.Aaack!

So I tossed out that $60 scale after having it only 3 weeks and researched alternatives.I had already owned a Tanita model and several analog scales that drove me similarly batty because of their unreliability, so I wasn't sure what to try next in my quest for a decent scale.I spent days reading reviews of digital scales on several websites and finally settled on the Soehnle Zeta.

I was leery of blowing yet another $100 on a scale that wouldn't be any better than my old ones, but I have to say I am thrilled with the Soehnle. It has never needed recalibration (heck, I never even had to calibrate it in the first place-- just popped in the batteries and hopped on it); it gives me a reading lightning-quick; it gives me the same reading now matter how many times I hop on and off the scale before my shower, accurate to 0.1 pound; it's completely unfazed by my efforts to weigh on one leg, holding my breath, leaning to the side...; and it weighs my 5-pound dumbbell at 5.0 pounds.Always.Not 4.2; not 4.8; not 5.2!Brilliant!

The Soehnle is simply worth every penny. This scale *works.*It's accurate (i.e., gives you the correct weight) and it's precise (i.e., gives you the same weight each time, time after time).Great engineering, great look. And I now save a ton of money on my hot water bill!

1-0 out of 5 stars This scale lies
I first gave this scale a glowing review because, as you will read from the other reviewers, it seems the measurement is repeatable to 0.1 pounds. However, I am now fairly certain that this repeatability is false. I believe the manufacture has set up the electronics so that it repeats the last stable reading if the next reading is close.

Owners, try this: Get a little less than 1/2 pound of butter (more than one stick, less than two). Weigh yourself holding the butter. Then weigh yourself without the butter. You will see the lower measurement briefly, but then the reading will jump to the original reading (as if you still had the butter.) Repeat the experiment, but have someone else weigh themselves in between. Now you will see that your weight (without the butter) is lower.

So, if you are judging the accuracy by its repeatability, don't. I'd rather know the variability than have that hidden from me. This "feature" is a little disconcerting and makes me wonder what other tricks it is playing on me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the Big Bucks!
This scale is expensive, no doubt about that. But it is worth every extra penny. Solid construction, amazing accuracy and sleek design.

I was worried about this scale, as it is glass and the edges seem to have no support. I was wrong, this puppy has solid construction! When I took it out of the box, I realized that this was a top of the line scale, and each detail of construction is sleek and sturdy, even the battery door was well engineered.

Frankly, I was tired of spending $30 for a scale and always wondering if it was truly accurate. I spent a lot of time reading reviews of scales, and this was one of the few scales that had consistent positive reviews about it. And with good reason - this scale is the best! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not store data
Contrary to the review below- others who have said that this unit does not store body fat data are correct. The person who says it does must have purchased a different model. I have carefully read the entire manual and there is no option on this model to store any data - you have to reenter it each time you want to check body fat. The weight measurement is off according to our old dial scale which closely correlated with to our last Dr. exams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Scale!
This is a great scale for the price listed. I has the option of measuring body fat although I don't use it for that purpose. It is very accurate and of course that is a low price considering its features.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yes, it does save your profile!!!
I just wanted to add contrary to others comments that you DON'T have to re-enter your information each time.If you tap one of the bars on the bottom part of the scale, it will pull up your profile (height and gender), you then are able to stand on the scale and get your weight and body fat measurement. Two people can save their profiles, you do have to read the directions to learn how to use it properly. It's a good scale, but the body fat is definitely off by five percent. But this is why it's cheap. If you want accuracy, you have to pay for it.I'm satisfied with an estimate.I just know that I subtract 5%--no big deal to me, as long as I know it's consistantly 5% off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good scale, very accurate
I had read that this was a great scale - accurate weight and body fat measurement. It also has a great price tag on it.I've had the scale for three years and it still works fine.I haven't had to change the batteries yet either. When I first got the scale, I had my body fat measured at the gym (water submersion) and on the scale. The results differed by just 1/2 percent.

My only complaint is that it can be cumbersome to enter the information for body fat measurement. You must select Adult/Child, Male/Female and enter your height each time.I've read that there is a feature that remembers this information for two users, but I have not figured out how to use it yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great price for Body Fat scale and ACCURATE
I received this scale as a gift from my husband when I began a new fitness routine. I am glad he didn't spend a lot of money on it, as I have tried in the past to lose weight unsuccessfully. With this scale and body fat monitor, I was losing fat, not just weight. This scale is extremely accurate- I had my body fat tested at the gym and it was exactly the same. I love this scale and will probably upgrade to a different Tanita model after the holidays (a gift to myself!)
Thanks for a great product. ... Read more

    Product Description

Tanita calls this scale the Family Model, designed for adults, kids and the athletes of the family. A setting on this scale lets you differentiate between all three so the readings given are accurate from the weight to the percentage of body fat. It includes a memory recall that lets you keep track of any gains or losses for up to four people so you never have to write it down or try to remember from one time to the next. It even tells you whether or not your weight is considered healthy or not. For guests that visit, there's also a button for them so there's no confusing their weight results with yours. Another innovative feature, unique to this scale, is the Daily Calorie Intake mode that estimates how many calories should be consumed in a 24-hour period in order to maintain your current weight, assisting you in your dietary planning for the day's meals. The digital display is large and easy to read. Operates on four "AA" batteries (included). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great piece of equipment, but you MUST be careful when using
I have been using this scale for 3 months to track my weight/fat level as I try to drop a little fat and gain some muscle by working out often. I have been using the scale in the morning and everning almost every day to smooth out any irregularities in measurements, and I've learned a lot about the scale in the process. According to the scale, in the last 3 months, I've gained 2 lbs of fat and 11 lbs of lean mass (hopefully I can use all that new muscle to burn that fat back off!).

First, it seems to be very consistent. I have watched my weight gradually increase and if I eat a meal shortly before weighing myself, I weigh unusually high, and if I do extra cardio work and don't eat as much in a day, that evening my fat % will be lower than usual.

In addition to those kinds of effects, I weigh an average of 1.5 pounds more in the evening and my fat level is 2.6% higher in the morning. All these facts point out that consistency in measurements is CRITICAL if you want your results to mean anything. If you want to weigh yourself once a week, you must be very careful that the conditions are the same.

I highly recommend weighing yourself regularly and averaging values. That's what I'm doing and I find my results much more useful than occasional weighing. For example, last week my lowest weight in the evening was 182.6 and the highest was 187. Similar things happen with fat percentages. Last week I varied between 11.2% and 14.9% in the evenings. Those numbers make the scale sound inconsistent, but I have been graphing weekly averages, and the trends have been very consistent. My weight has been up 1.5-2.5 lbs every week, and fat% is changing no more than 0.5% from one week to the next and it's staying in a narrow range (13-14).

If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. I highly recommend these scales. It would be great if once a week or once a month testing on expensive equipment was adequate, but unless you are making huge changes, day to day fluctuations will make results hard to interpret. Using a scale like this will help to give you meaningful, week to week results. It's been a big help in keeping me motivated.

3-0 out of 5 stars Tanita BF682 Body Fat Scale
I am disappointed in this scale because of the inaccuracy with the body fat monitor.I had purchased a Health-o-meter just a week before and returned it because we thought the body fat percentage was way off. So I had heard Tanita was very good, and went ahead and purchased this with Amazon. My husband, son and daughter all show low body fat, and all are thin and fit people, so I guess it's accurate. But when I get on the scale, my body fat % is showing 32%.When I had mine done professionally at our local college gym, it was 22%.I am a 43 year old women who works out every day lifting weights and doing aerobics.I am 5'9" and weigh 146.The problem is, when I get on the scale using my husband's setting, my body fat % reading is 13%.He is 6 feet tall and weighs 166.So why is that?Is it just taking some calculation based on my settings? It looks at my age, height and weight and thinks "middle aged woman" hmm, 32%.That's what is seems like, anyhow.I thought it was based on the electronic component that actually measures your body composition.Maybe I was just uninformed, but, this just doesn't seem right.I gave three stars because the weight seems to be correct for all 4 members of my family, and I like that it is consistent and gives readings to the nearest two-tenths.It also stores the last reading.

I recommend everyone get their body composition done at a gym like I did.It was inexpensive, quick and easy. Then you'll know for sure.Save some money and get a scale that gives weight only.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tanita BF682 is a great scale - consistent and dependable.
For years I weighed myself with a Health-O-Meter scale and "guessed" at my weight. I would pop on the scale, get off and allow it to reset, pop back on and find my weight would vary usually by 1-3 pounds. But once by 20 pounds!

After much frustration I decided to invest in the Tanita BF682. The BF682 is a sturdy attractive metal and plastic scale with some great features. After I purchased it I put it on a level surface (rugs are a no-no) and weighed myself about 10 times in a row not giving the scale a chance to reset. To my pleasure I weighed the exact same each time right down to .2 of a pound!

The scale has several buttons in the front that you tap with your foot to program in up to four family members height, weight, activity level and age. When you step on the scale you will get a read out with your weight and body fat. In order to ensure an accurate bodyfat measurement, you should weigh at the same time each afternoon (not first thing in the morning as you are not hydrated) in your bare feet. There is also a "guest" button so a guest can get a bodyfat and weight reading and a weigh only button that will give weight only.

Tanita works by sending a small electrical current through your body to read your bodyfat. You do not experience any discomfort at all, but those with a pacemaker should not use it as the electrical current may interfere with the operation of the pacemaker. After it has read your body fat the scale will give you the number and also a small icon will tell you if you are underfat, healthy, overfat or obese.

One super nice thing about this scale is the DCI or daily caloric intake. That's right! Along with your bodyfat and weight, this scale is so smart it will also tell you how many calories you are consuming to weigh what you do. If you want to beef up - eat more calories than the number shown and if you want to skinny down - eat less. Very motivational.

The scale operates on 4 double A batteries that are included as are easy to follow directions.

If you are looking for a bodyfat, daily caloric intake and weight scale this is an excellent scale. In April 2005, however, Tanita is set to release a new set of scales called Innerscan. These will vary in features but may monitor body functions such as water %, bone mass, muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, metabolic age and daily calorie intake along with weight and body fat depending on the model you choose. Starting price will only be about $10 more so you many want to check into those models also.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad experience with this purchase
I bought one BF682 and two BF792 for holiday gifts while they have promotion on Tanita.Unfortunately, I received all three scales were opened box.

The BF682 is work properly but the bottom on top is not that smooth when pressed, so I requested for exchange. The exchanged one is opened box either and it has the same problem as the first one.

Two BF792 have problems with the fat %.I've tried 15 times on the first one, only 3 times showed the fat %, they are 8%, 18% & 23%.I've tired 10 times on the second one, none of them showed the fat %.Of course, I requested for exchange. The exchanged scales are also opened box. They work fine although the bottom is not smooth.

Since I have no time to buy another gifts, therefore, I keep all three opened box scales.I was extremely angry and disappointed with this purchase.Amazon, do you have quality control on all stuffs that you sale? From this bad experience, I am scare to buy electronic from Amazon again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps you motivated
My wife got this scale for me for Father's Day.I was interested in knowing my body fat percentage so that I could track my progress over time. What I hadn't counted on is that this regular feedback is a great motivator for meeting your personal goals.Since the scale is accurate to 0.2lb and 0.1% body fat, you can see the impact of small changes to your eating or workout habits. As a result, I have made faster progress in achieving my goals than I had thought was possible.

This was a wonderful investment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great scale!
I got this scale about a week ago and absolutely love it! Don't get fooled by its size - it's smaller and thinner than some other scales so you can store it more easily. It's very precise - I even tried weighting myself several times in a row and always got the same reading!
It has a little switch on the bottom so you can choose whether you want your weight shown in pounds or kilograms. Based on your settings, it displays weight in either 0.2 kg or 0.5 lb increments.
If you store the scale elsewhere than where you weigh yourself, the manual prompts you to step on the scale, and then step off regardless of the reading. Then you step on it again and weigh yourself as usual. That way the scale adjusts itself to the different surface and the reading is more accurate.
Overall, I would recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate scale
I have owned this scale for about a week. First of all, the manual is well written, simple, and accurate. Both my mother and I use the scale and have found it to be accurate as compared to our old analog scale. To be honest, our old scale gave varying readings of 1 and 2 pound differences with each repeated weighing at 1-minute intervals. The Taylor 7009 gave consistent readings under the same test everytime except once where the pound difference was up by 0.5.

The scale is relatively small, neat, and gorgeous with its black and silver finish. It has quite a slim profile, and it does feel solid and seems durable, but only time will tell if it is durable. The display is large and the numbers are very easy to read. On the topic of the display, it must be noted that the scale gives a reading within 3 to 4 seconds of standing on it, and it dutifully turns itself off after a few seconds. (I believe this is why the battery would be able to last a lifetime as the manufacturer promises).

It is very sensitive, so it is advisable that once you stand on it, remain as still as possible, because too much movement will result in an Error message on the display. This is easily resolved by stepping off and then on the scale again.

In short, this is a beautifully made scale which functions the way it should - accurately. ... Read more

This scale worked exactly ONCE.It broke almost immediately. The readings are way off now, when it offers up a number at all.DO NOT BUY.

1-0 out of 5 stars lasted only 1 year--complete junk
I owned this model for 1 year before it gave me the "batt" signal.after I spent another $7 on new lithium batteries, it turned out the scale was broken.looking on the web, I discovered lots of other stories like mine.advice:find another brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
When this scale arrived, the battery was dead.I called the company and they sent a new battery which took over a week. Now with the scale "working", it takes almost 10 seconds for the weight to show up on the screen and further, 8 times out of 10 the scale reads "ERR" and I have to get off and get back on.In addition, this scale reads over five pounds more than the scale I weigh in on at Weight Watchers.I would NOT recommend this scale to anyone else.

Have had my scales for a few years.I am the type of person who gets weighed every morning having been a model in Australia around World War 2These are the best scales I have ever had and would recommend them to anyone who likes to bevery accurate when getting weighed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Weight loss incentive!
I started with the Taylor Analog Large Dial Bath Scale but could never see the subtle downturn in weight, would get frustrated and give up.After all, losing 2 pounds a week won't show up well on an analog scale, and I need all the incentive I can find. Some say that you should only weigh yourself once a week while dieting, but I need the constant reminder that the extra helping really isn't worth it.

I love this scale, it let's me know exactly where I stand. It keeps me out of the fridge. And keeps me motivated when I can see myself go down in tenths of a pound.Also- my house is tiny and this small scale fits just about ANYWHERE!

Go get one! The price is right, and so is the motivation benefit. ... Read more
