How Something So Basic Can Be Fun
This review is about the Oral-B Flexisoft replacement heads. Coupled with the Braun electric toothbrushes, this is one of the most effective aids to oral hygiene ever developed. My introduction to Oral-B goes back over 27 years to a USAF basic training briefing; a dental technician held up an Oral-B toothbrush with medium bristles and said "this is the toothbrush you need if you want to keep your teeth" or some such statement like that. Well, I haven't lost one yet.

The motorized mechanicals of the toothbrush do most of the work while you guide the oscillating round head around and over your pearly whites. While the heads are undeniably pricey when looked at just in dollars and cents, there is value in the fact that the total package actually makes a rather mundane chore a little more fun while actually living up to the claim that it does a better job on your teeth than manual brushing.

Since I've always believed the entire surface area of the toothbrush head was meant to be covered with toothpaste and the size of the head on these is smaller than the average brush, I know I'm using less toothpaste to do the same job. While this is no big deal, the long term economic benefit is plaque under control, healthy gums and a bright smile full of natural teeth; it's kind of hard to deny it works. My dentist has confirmed this upon direct examination.

Just be careful what model of these brush heads you are selecting and watch the pricing. Oral-B uses a kind of color code for the bristles, and the ones that have colored bristles in a line with the shaft are the Flexisoft model that seems to equate to medium hardness.

Great toothbrush...worth using.
I've been using a Sonicare for four years now. Getting greatly improved dental checkups w/cleaning. Very little hardened plaque. Very happy with the it. However, first one gave up after two years, needing replacement. My current one is now needing more frequent charging, suggesting it too is on its way out. So yes these are overpriced, but still worth having. The competition, Oral-B, works a little differently but is less expensive. I will probably buy another Sonicare, however.

Better than the Elite series
I used the Original Sonicare for 5 years and got NO cavities or gum problems. The battery died so I thought I'd trade up to the new elite model. 6 months later I have a detached gum and a cavity. The Elite has excessive vibration that can damage the gums since the brush head design is different and smaller so the vibrationsdo not "pan out" evenly. Several sonic type models have this problem. And I was dismayed that that "clean" feeling from the first sonicare was not evident with the elite. I have heard the Oral B sonic is gentler than most. But I'm buying another 4700 type.

No cracked plastic here - I love this brush!
First, I want to share what I know about why the plastic base/handle of a Sonicare may crack. The plastic collar that secures the brush head of my Sonicare Advance cracked during the first week I used my new brush. When I called Sonicare to ask for a replacement, I also got an explanation: If you use toothpaste with baking soda, the plastic will indeed crack sooner or later. The woman I spoke with at Sonicare said she didn't know exactly why this happens, but that the company was aware of the problem, and was looking into the cause and a possible solution. Anyway, they promptly sent me a new collar, and told me not to use any toothpaste with baking soda if I wanted to avoid another cracked brush. I've followed that advice, and my entire brush base is still perfect after 4 years of daily use...

Which brings me to this: I love this toothbrush! My teeth are clean, my gums are healthy, and I can drink the tea I love without developing a stained smile.

I highly recommend this brush, provided you can live without baking soda toothpaste.

My husband, son (age 11) and I have been using the Sonicare 4700 for several years and we love it. We could NEVER go back to manual toothbrushes. The handle my husband and I share has "died" twice. Both times were within Sonicare's 2 year warranty period (period restarts if they replace an item). Each time they graciously replaced the handle. Wow, what a change!
Always brushed my teeth with a normal toothbrush for 20 or however many years I can remember.It is a bit awkward for me, how it feels in my hands in my mouth.So from a novice point of view, here are the pros, cons

Flawless
Nineteen months twice a day this brush has performed perfectly for me. Have only taken on one trip of three days and battery was fine for those six brushings. My dentist began being happy to see me three months after I started with this brush. Also, I am still on the second replacement brush that came with it.

So far so good (cross finger)
I have this electric brush for about 3 months so far.And so far, so good.I suffer from receding gumline, and I know it's not coming back.So I need to resort to electric brush to allow myself a way to brush my teeth without slaugthering my gums.There is a lot of complaints here at Amazon that the battery dies out, and I sorta agreee.After 3 months, the battery is slowly having trouble holding up the charge.

As a test, I find that on a typical full charge (at the beginning of the purchase), I could get 10 brushes (2 each day = 5 days) before recharging.But now, I can only get maybe 6-7 brushes on a full charge, without recharging.As some people say, the best way to prolong the battery (weak Ni-Cd) is to more frequently discharge the brush/battery.You do that by letting the sucker run until its battery dies.

But aside from the battery, overall it's very good.The shape is a little big and clumsy to hold, much bulkier than a typical toothbrush.So for people who want the "ultimate portable" electric brush, this isn't it.There are 3 extra replaceable heads, which is a bargain.Overall, for 20 bux, this is a very good toothbrush.Considering the quality of the battery, I think it will last me about a year or 2.But since I have a receding gum-line, it is well worth it for the health of my mouth.

This toothbrush is popular in my house
Bought two originally for my wife and I to replace my sonicare whose battery died (non-replaceable NiCd). We liked it so much, we bought two more for the kids who had a rotating toothbrush, and they love it too. Compared to sonicare, the battery charge seemingly lasts forever. I had to charge the sonicare every few days (I unplug the charger/holder so I can cycle the NiCd batteries for longer life). The SB300U lasts more than one week with each charge: great for trips. While the sonicare brushes probably go through more gyrations so you don't need to move as much, this brush gets the job done. I find the balance and size is much better than other electric toothbrushes on the market. I still would like to see these electronic manufacturers allow for replacing the NiCds. Such a waste to throw out the equipment for want of a $1 battery.

Really great when it works
I love what it does for my teeth, but the unit I got wouldn't hold a charge for even a single brushing when I got it. I was too busy to return it and almost threw it away in disgust.

But I held onto it and after it had sat for a few months, I tried it again. It seems to be working now.

Wow
In my opinion, this toothbrush is the best thing since sliced bread.Yes, it is bulky and it takes some time getting used to, BUT it is so worth it.After 3 mins of brushing, your teeth will (literally) shine.And not just that, you'll save a bunch of money on dentist visits (cleaner teeth=less problems).Get it, your smile will thank you.

Great but bulky
My first impression of the toothbrush was how bulky it was.My roommate has a Sonicare and I figured it would be roughly the same size, but it seems bigger.It almost looks a little ridiculous, it has a huge handle and a small brush head.

But once you start brusing your teeth with it you forget about it and just enjoy it.It's simply amazing how clean your teeth feel when you are done brushing with it.

The toothpaste refills are a little pricey and they don't seem to be sold everywhere, but you can always put regular toothpaste on the brushhead if you wish.

Overall I'm happy with the product, but not with the size.

Junk gimmick - Too big, expensive toothpaste...AVOID!
Why upgrade to this bulky product? Why contend with hard to find and expensive toothpaste? Why limit your toothpaste choices? Why pay so much?

Listen, just buy better Oral B product which are superior and smaller.

I returned mine to my dentist and got Oral B instead and very impressed with it!You're supposed to replace brush often and Sonicare's replacement are RIP OFF.

Sonicares are unreliable.I owned older model and it died within 2 years or just shy of 2 year warranty.I give them credit for good customer service for sending me replacement.So if your product is unreliable then call to complain and demand a brane new replacment!

Want proof? Reputable 3rd party Cochrane study state that Oral B's rotating brush are better! Not only that the replacement brushes are much cheaper than Sonicare!

Love the toothbrush but hard to find replacement heads

As my title says, I love the toothbrush that fits these replacement brushes but I'm seriously thinking about not buying a new one after my current one goes.I've used this systemsince 1995 but it is so frustrating, and getting more so, to find replacement heads that it's simply not worth it. I know I can get them from conair but why should I have to pay shipping for something that I should be able to find in just about any drugstore.I live in New Jersey relatively close to NYC, you think it wouldn't be a problem - but it is.This is the first review I've ever written about anything - it's just that aggravating.

Wonderful Product
I've been using the Interplak for probably 15 years now.My dentist told me "if you want to keep your teeth for another 10 years you've gotta start using this" and he told me all about it.I bought one on the way home and been using it every since.I think this is the 3rd Interplak I've owned.I much prefer the mini-brush - the one with 6 bristle heads on it - to the full size one.I can do a better job and wish to heck that they'd sell a Replacement Heads Pack of ONLY the mini-heads.Course, as one reviewer said - you can only use Gel Toothpaste with this brush.Personally - I have never used anythning besides good old Baking Soda for cleaning my teeth with the Interplak.My dentist is impressed with the condition of my teeth!Brushing with the Interplak and flossing religiously has made all of the difference for me!

I have used the toothbrush for several years - I had 2 or 3 other ones before. These brushes and the power toothbrush as the best. Use very little toothpaste or none at all - toothpaste mostly makes you feel good. Lowest price I have been able to find, too.

Make sure you only use gel toothpaste with this toothbrush. The paste toothpaste will cause the heads to sieze up.
I have had this toothbrush for nearly 2 years with no other problems.

Excellent. End the Suffering!
I love this toothpaste. It is so mild. I used to get canker sores continually, sometimes four at a time. It was painful to talk or eat. I tried this toothpaste after reading the reviews and after a few weeks I noticed a drastic change. Now I only get one every few months and they aren't nearly as painful and don't last nearly as long. I ran out and promptly have two canker sores! I'm ordering more today.

This really works.
My husband has always suffered from canker sores & although we have never found a cure, changing his toothpaste has made a tremendous difference!He had been using Sensodyne without the sodium laurel sulfate, but he would still have outbreaks.Since consistently using Rembrandt he has had maybe one canker sore in 8 months...vs. getting at least 10 at-a-time & a swollen tongue every couple of months.We will be lifetime users of this product.

THE BEST!!!
I used to get canker sores so often that it was easier to count the days I was not afflicted.I asked my doctor and my dentist, I even had a biopsy done on them (ouch!), but none of them had any advice.I researched the problem on my own (web) and found lots of discussion about sodium lauryl sulfate as a possible cause.I looked at every tube of toothpaste at the store and the all had it.I finally found Rembrandt Naturals, and gave it a try.It worked great.I went from almost continuous canker sores to one every month or so.I couldn't find Rembrandt Naturals when I lived in Hawaii, so I looked online and found Rembrandt For Canker Sore Sufferers.I have used both and I like that one the best.The end.

Effective, Great product
I've been using this product for several years now.I used to have canker sores every month before using the toothpase.Now I only get them a few times a year.It works great and it has the recommended minimum flouride requirements also.It doesn't work for everyone one though.I recommended this to a friend of mine and she said it didn't work for her.

Almost perfect toothbrush
Almost.....because nothing is perfect.And it does have a shut-off feature - it is the third press of the 'on' button.The positions are 'fast', 'slow' and 'off'.The various brushes are great - didn't think I would use more than 1 or 2, but after trying all four, I see their individual benefit.It would be a good idea to get a child used to this as young as possible because it cleans so well in a short time, especially with the choice of different size heads.Well worth the price!

Nice Brush
I've used this toothbrush for 9 months now and it's been wicked good.My teeth feel fresh.The toothbrush hasn't broken or shown signs of wear.The battery still charges well.I find that the heads don't wear down as fast as they say.Overall--satisfied.

Best dentist appointment ever!
I purchased this brush in Feb. and began noticing a difference very quickly after I began using it.My teeth feel cleaner and I love brushing my teeth.I had my first dentist appointment since using the brush about a week ago and it was the best appointment of my life. I used to hate going to the dentist, this was the first time in ages that I haven't had a cavity, and both my hygenist and dentist commented on my "great brushing"!

Super Toothbrush - Great Investment in Your Dental Health
This is definitely a much better toothbrush than the typical $20 unit you may get on sale. Ergonomic design, the relief after brushing, the timer and the autostop feature in case of overpressure on your gums are all very nice. It will cut your dental bills in due course. But most importantly, you LOOK FORWARD to using this brush because it is A TOOTH MASSAGER.

What could have been better? Instead of two speeds, there may have been a user adjustable knob to vary the speed. Of course, such a thing may make the unit less resistant to water. The instruction manual suggests that the unit should not be used in shower, but I dont believe it will suffer any leaks.

perfect teeth!
When I usually go to the dentist, it's the same story: a handful of cavities, sore gums, and a lecture about proper brushing and flossing. Last time I went was 2.5 years ago just because I couldn't bear the thought of more drilling and scraping.

But! I got this toothbrush based on the reviews here about a year ago and have used it almost every day. The results: the dentist said I have perfect teeth and gums today! BestFlosser for tight teeth
This is the most convienent item for reaching all my teeth and not have the floss fall apart. Pricey but worth it for a healthy mouth. And after I'm done, I snip out the floss and throw the plastic part in the recycle bin. Hey! There's a thought!

Fabulous!
Anything that makes flossing easy is wonderful. I plan to keep my teeth into old age and beyond and this will help. It is especially good for me for those pesky back molars and wisdom teeth. No more fumbling around and wondering if I did a good enough job. Considering that there is a correlation between gum disease and heart disease, I'll keep on flossing in whichever way makes it easy and is effective. Want to save the earth? Have one less kid. That should cancel out about 100,000,000,000,000 people's flossing discards.

Fantastic flosser
This little thing works great.I understand what the other reviewer is saying about the plastic in the landfill but I have to admit this thing works great.I have always had a problem flossing every day with regular floss but since I bought this Hummingbird I floss every day.I have a sonic toothbrush as well and the combination of both really cleans my teeth and gums.I hope the previous reviewer will forgive me but I am hooked on this little machine.The only problem I see right now is the price of floss picks.They range from $3.50 to $3.99 for a 15 day supply.This can get pretty pricey after awhile.I watch for coupons and specials (Amazon).I agree with the previous reviewer that it would be nice if we had a machine like this with replaceable floss.

Better than I thought it would be....
My teeth are very tight and flossing has never been a joy of any kind, so I often don't do it!Then I got this little buzzer thingy and things have changed.Even though I still have trouble getting the floss between my teeth, once it is in there, I can feel it is doing a superb job of getting the tiny bits and goo off my teeth in areas regular flossing just doesn't go, and it does it in a third of the time regular flossing takes.I thought having a battery powered tooth pick was the height of arrogance, stupidity, and conspicuous consumption to the Nth degree, but I have changed my mind.The toothpick also gets into others spots the flosser can't reach.I will now be PROUD to visit my dentist.

I gave it four stars instead of 5 because the floss, although very good, still shreds a tiny bit, due to my tight teeth;however it DOES last an entire flossing session, unlike regular floss.Over all, this is well worth the price and the very slight learning curve.

Hmmm, its not worth the money
We bought the hummingbird flosser, I took the head off of it and used it. Works fine that way, it's good for reaching the back teeth compared to regular dental floss. But I will not buy again. I will just stretch the fingers with regular floss for now on. I am not sure why anyone would say it hurts though it hardly moves.

A Useless Item
The Oral B Hummingbird is completely useless as a floss or toothpick replacement.The picks and flosser heads are better used without the hummingbird if anything.If you purchase this item you will simply be recieve a device with a "cute" appearance that vibrates like a pager but does nothing to help clean your teeth.Honestly, I do not recommend anyone purchasing this product unless they want to use it as a display item on your desk.

Dentist says no
After using this I found out from the dentist it was making my gums red and sore.He told me to stop using it, and get a water pik instead.If you are sore after using this stop using it, the pressure is too strong.

Depends on your teeth...
This product is somewhat of a waste of time depending on your teeth.Unless your teeth are perfectly straight you can hardly get the floss/pick in between your teeth and once you do get it in between your teeth you can hardly move the floss up and down or left to right because there is no power in just holding the device with one hand.Also, I think that even if your teeth are perfectly straight (which I doubt everyones is) I doubt you still will be able to use this product properly because of just how weak the floss and your control over the product is. ... More bristles, more buzzzzzz.
One of these brush heads came with my Oral B 980TX power toothbrush.I liked it so much more than the regular FlexiSoft head that I immediately ordered the 3-pack.

The extra bristles with their side-to-side oscillation add more oomph to the Oral B's tingle-inducing cleaning action.I can feel it all the way to the base of each tooth.When I rinse, I see more loosened debris swirling down the drain.I finish my evening brushing with a hydrogen peroxide rinse, and, man oh man, does it get foamy, an indication of freshly cleaned dental and gum surfaces.

The price is already a bargain but with additional available discounts like Free Super Saver Shipping and the A9 Instant Reward, it's a steal.

It worked okay, but it really feels big
I had read the reviews about this bigger head, and I thought cool, twice the brushing power in the same amount of time!However, after having received it, I'm a little dissappointed.It doesn't appear as though it's that big, but it feels very large in mouth.It felt like I was trying to brush my teeth with my thumb.I had trouble getting the brush into the far reaches of my mouth whereas before with the smaller head I had no problems.I'm not a small person either, I'm 6'1" and 190lbs, with an average size mouth.It's really not that different than the standard head, it's just bigger.I think what bothered me most about the bigger head is that the angles at which you approach your teeth are now more limited because of the increased brush size.Because of this, getting the brush into every nook and cranny is now more difficult.Also, because it is bigger, it's harder to close your mouth around the wand, which means you get more toothpaste goo running down the brush.

Unfortunately, I bought the economical 3-pack.I should have bought the single one just to try it out, but I was certain I'd love the bigger one.Oh well...

I was leery of the shape at first, but after one brushing, I'm hooked!The teeth are much slicker compared to the standard round head after brushing.The head is bigger, but the round part can reach hard spots.

Works Geat....Economical in Three-pack
The Oral-B DualAction EB417 refill brush will fit into most Oral B power brushes. Almost all replacements for Oral -B do. I did notice in the buyer info though, that this one will not fit the CrossAction power brush. I bought this as a replacement for a single head brush, so at first it felt to big for my mouth. But with use I got used to holding it at different angles to get the most from the dual action heads.

You get twice the cleaning action with this two head power brush. It gets into tight places(practically like flossing), reaches the back teeth nicely, gives a great massaging action for your gums, and does a good job of removing plaque, leaving your mouth feeling totally refreshed. It will last a long time(I found nearly 3 months, brushing 2x a day). The thing is, with a power brush, you only need to hold it gently and guide it. If you use it like a regular toothbrush, and help it brush, or press too hard, it will not last as long. This one, as most Oral-B power brushes, indicates when it is time for a new brush(colors fade). The packaging has a picture showing you the difference of new and used. Also, just a small amount of your favorite toothpaste, goes along way.

Buying them in this 3 pack is the most economical way to go. It's almost like getting one for free. My package also came with 4 different color rings that fit at the base of the handle where it connects to the charging base. These different colors are great for telling each brush apart from the others.

Great product, great results but..
I concur with the rest of the reviews. They do make your teeth whiter (for me i noticed a difference after the first application). Also people stopped me and complemented me on my teeth.

However the things are very hard to put on your teeth. The top ones are easier, but the lower ones are very tiny and often slip off.

It also takes one or two applications for your mouth to get used to them. So make sure have a towel on standy if you intend to use them (they make you salivate)

Good Product, but strips should be longer
I've heard a lot about them on television and on the internet, but I never gave them a try.I'm one of those people who thinks that ALL producers simply come up with some new gimik to steal my hard earned money.

I finally met someone (with a great smile) that used them and she recommended them to me.Gave really high reviews about them.So, I decided to give them a try (still skeptical though.Maybe she had a great smile to begin with).

I guess I should have taken some pictures to be sure, but personally I didn't notice much difference.They were a bit whiter I think, but that could have been the lighting, or my imagination.

When I was done with the product, I still wasn't satisfied until I started getting compliments from all sorts of people.People were asking me what I did, because my teeth looked really white.Still skeptical, I ignored the first 4 people, but over 10 people can't be wrong.Bottom line, the product does work, the "constant shade" of my teeth was all in my head and came from inspecting them every day.

PROS:
Product works.Even though I skipped a couple days, still seemed to work.Just don't inspect them so much every day, because since the difference is gradual, you won't notice much.

CONS:
The stupid strips are TOO SHORT.What was crest thinking? I guess I just have to control my smile so that it's not too wide, because now I notice how yellow my back teeth are.Hey, I may buy 2 boxes next time and try overlapping strips. :D

Does leave your gums and teeth a bit sensitive if you apply to strips too much on the gums.

Takes a bit of getting used to, no doubt.

Easy to use and really works.

Talk about problems
After my braces were removed i noticed that my teeth were really disclolored.I decided to try the strips to see if they worked.After a few days, and some problems with the strips, i noticed my teeth started to look a little whiter.Then i noticed that my teeth started to ache, just like when i had braces on.I read the instruction which said that sensitivity was common and that it would go away, so i kept using the strips.However, after a few more days i couldn't stand the pain in my teeth, i couldnt eat or drink and i would wake up in the middle of the night in tears because my teeth hurt so bad.I quit using them and it took almost a week for me to be able to eat and drink normally again.After all the problems with the strips and the pain my teeth really are not significantly whiter, i think it was a waste of time.

I agree with the other customers' reviews.This system does what it claims to whiter your teeth.
Listening to others' reviews, I try to be careful to put the strips into my mouth.So, I have no problem to put them in.However, it is definitely not allow you to talk freely when you have the strips in your mouth.I also don't think you can eat and drink while the strips in your mouth.I hope Crest will give some extra strips in case one mess up or break the strip unintentionally.
I also find that the strips are very small.I have small teeth but the strips are not able to cover them all.I think both the strips for upper teeth and lower teeth only design to cover the front 8 teeth both on the top and on the bottom.I am wondering what happens to my other back teeth.

Great addition to the spinbrush line
I was going to purchase a new Spinbrush when I discovered they'd started selling replacement heads! This is great! For the price of a toothbrush you get two heads for an electric toothbrush. The spinbrush works so well anyway to have these available is a wonderful thing to add to an already great toothbrush.
For the money you can't beat the Spinbrush and it's replacement head. You can have tons of these without having to shell out a ton of money.

Motor gone in 4 weeks!
This product, although poorly constructed, did a good job while it lasted! I bought this waterpik on March 9, 2005 and as of April 5, 2005 the motor is gone. What a rip off!

Short-lived Power Monster
This baby can blow out your back teeth. But it blew itself out after six weeks. The good news: the Pikheads were willing to replace it with a phone call. So if they keep replacing it, I'd give it five stars though it is noisy and I use it in my apt at three in the morning. A towel underneath baffles most of the clamor.

Water Pik has been good for me over the years!
I bought my first Water Pik in about 1970 at the recommendation of my dentist at that time.I think that I am on my 5th one now.I think that they have each lasted about 5 years on the average.Like others have mentioned, generally the hoses fail.In more recent years they have not allowed us to get hose parts and repair this ourselves.There have been years when I did not replace a failed Water Pik.However, I keep coming back to using Water Pik and am hooked on using it.I am especially dependant on Water Pik for a good cleaning of the few dental food pockets that I have.It has also helped me to have healthy gums.

It's Great, But----
I'm on my 3'rd water pick.I love it, but each one I've owned had to be replaced because the little tubing ends up breaking and seemingly can't be repaired.
