tastes great, works better
This is awesome stuff. I hated Listerine because it burned my mouth and I could never make it the entire 30 seconds or whatever it is, and I had heard about this when I got my tongue pierced years ago. I decided to try it recently, and it makes my mouth feel tons cleaner than listerine.

A really great product
For some reason my husband was having a real problem with bad breath. He was brushing and using a generic Scope-like mouthwash, but his breath would only improve a little bit for a short time. I had read that the alcohol and artificial flavors can actually cause bad breath in the long run. I looked at several of the products at the drugstore and ended up buying Biotene. Even though it cost a little more than the generic stuff, it didn't have any alcohol and said it was anti-bacterial, so I decided to give it a try. My husband tried it as soon as I brought it home, and it really works. He has not had bad breath since. This is definitely a product worth the extra money you spend. It has a decent taste and is definitely not too strong. This is a really great product. We can snuggle and kiss without having to worry about our breath. What's better than that?

Great product for oral health
Biotene Mouthwash, TheraBreath Oral Ringe, twice/day brushing and once/day flossing together helped us (me and my family) to get rid of bad oral bacteria and bad breadth. Manufacturers claim (Biotene and TheraBreadth) was OK for us. The TheraBreath Oral Ringe was able to clean bacteria (including sulfur bacteria in tonsils), but you know, bacteria grows fast. After TheraBreath, only Biotene was able to promote more good bacteria (and less bad bacteria). Based on proving I personally recommend both of them twice (this sequence brought success: morning brush/TheraBreath, noon Biotene, evening brush/TheraBreath and before bed flossing/Biotene).

Great taste, less filling!
I've been using the prescription-only Peridex that my dentist prescribed to me for care after a scaling/root-planing procedure. That stuff was nasty. Peridex is one of the worst-tasting oral rinses ever, and it changes the way food tastes. That's one of the side-effects.

Needless to say, I was looking for an alternative to Peridex.

I bought some Biotène at my local Target and tried it a few times, and it's probably the best replacement to the antibacterial Peridex I've tried.

Biotène is fresh, fresh-tasting, cheery, and has no alcohol, so it does not burn my mouth and tongue like Peridex does (which does have alcohol). It also does not taste bitter, nor does it leave a bitter aftertaste in the mouth that affects later food tasting. I'm definitely telling my dentist that I can't take Peridex anymore and that I'm switching to Biotène although it's recommended for dry mouth mostly, something I don't have. I will use it for its antibacterial properties.

Best thing I ever did for my mouth
I've been a hardcore user of Listerine for about 4 years (I'm so health concious I was only using the unflavored brown one because the fake sugars and flavors aren't going to make your mouth healthier anyways).

I can say after only 3 days of using Biotene I was sold on the product, it's simply the 2nd best thing I ever did for my mouth (the 1st was buying an all natural toothpaste that wasn't full of excessive mint flavor). Before using the product I would wake up with a nasty taste in my mouth, and it would be much worse if I didn't brush the night before (which I normal do but sometimes I forgot). In fact my mouth is so clean now there have been a couple times when I was in a hurry, and didn't brush or rinse my mouth the night before and the next morning and I didn't even realize I had skipped 2 cleanings, and I'm not exaggerating.

The reason why this mouthwash is so superior is because other mouthwashes simply use alcohol to "kill the germs" but the problem is, you need a solution of approx 75% alcohol to kill all the germs. Unfortunately the alcohol content of mouthwashes are regulated at 25% so leave it to say most of the germs will survive. Now add to that fact that the fake sugars in other mouthwashes actually PROMOTES bacterial growth. Then also add in the fact that alcohol is BAD for your gums. I mean why did you think other mouthwashes burn? That burning is gum tissue damage, alcohol actually promotes gum recession, which is what your trying to prevent (gingivitis).

Biotene contains the same exact enzymes your mouth naturally produces to kill bad bacteria and uses a natural sugar alcohol that doesn't promote bacterial growth. Also there's no heavy mint flavor to cover up the fact you still have bad bacteria in your mouth so you can enjoy that glass of orange juice in the morning without the nasty mint side effect you currently get.
Really think about the products you use, these all chemical mouthwashes and toothpaste you use have heavy mint flavor and fake sugars. I sometimes wonder if people are better off brushing and rinsing with only water as the fake sugars increase bacterial growth, the heavy mint is used to cover up the fact that the baste taste isn't entirely gone (it does came back doesn't it?). With Biotene it often takes days for the classic bad mouth taste to come back.

Tastes Like an Icky Liquid Cold Medicine I Had to Take!
I use Listerine too. I use it not for bad breath but because at the dentist office they recommended that I use Listerine after I brush and floss my teeth for extra prevention against gum disease like gingivitis and I really didn't like the flavor of this blue Listerine and prefer the orange colored citrus flavor and the amber colored original flavor. I know that the amber colored one is very strong but I got used to it and it doesn't taste as mediciney as the blue Listerine which reminds me of this horrible tasting liquid cold medication I had to take when I had a bad cold so I personally prefer the Citrus flavor and the original flavor! This flavor is just too icky!

I really like this product. I've tried just about every mouthwash on the market -- some of them more than once! I found the Listerine Cool Mint a very refreshing mouthwash. It left my mouth tingly and clean feeling, yet it wasn't too strong. Some mouthwashes I've tried have been so strong that they actually seem to ""burn"" your mouth. I'll continue to use the Listerine Mouthwash and recommend it highly. One other plus -- it's very competitively priced.

There is nothing remotely citrusy about this product. Of all the flavored Listerine washes this one has the least discernible "flavor." You could lick a car tire and taste more citrus.

Super mediciney!

An experiment with flavor
Listerine realizes that making something tastes bad is no longer synonymous with medicine and may even be in bad taste. In their efforts they came up with this one hoping to get on the citrus bandwagon. The reality is this is a good masking product. It works well to mask for people that do not brush well. The FDA would not let it clam anything that it is not. What it is not is a substitute for products like Periodent (prescription mouthwash).

I've been using Reach Act Fluoride Rinse for about 2 weeks now and really like it. It has a mild mint flavor that isn't too strong. We have well water so I feel it's important to use a fluoride rinse and this product has been wonderful. I especially like the built-in measuring cup -- always have the exact amount you need. I'll recommend this product highly to all of my friends and family.

This is a great mouthwash. The fresh mint flavor wasn't too strong as I've found with many other mouthwashes. My mouth felt clean and fresh after using it. A lifeline.
I'm sure I am not alone in my annoyance at my fellow reviewers comments below. His flippant mockery of this product only serves to highlight his ignorance concerning the crippling effects of halitosis, - a disease which currently holds me in it's terminal grip.

My breath is truly rancid. Every morning it starts off unbearable, and rapidly gets worse.
Imagine if you extracted a dead goats stomach, left it in the sun for a few days, added a dozen rotten eggs, dipped it in a cess-pit, then set about vomiting over the whole filthy lot. Well that's what I wake up with every morning. It's only by ingesting a bottle of listerine a day that I can keep any food down.

Needless to say I avoid all unnecessary social contact, preferring to remain indoors. In fact the local council has registered my house an environmental hazard after an internal inspection (2 people died in the process).
Nobody comes to visit, they think it's infectious, even when I'm wearing the mask.

Overall, the taste of Listermint is much more pleasant than the Listerine products I generally use. The only thing I wasn't sure of is why it's called antiseptic. It doesn't say antiseptic anywhere on the bottle and it's alcohol free. I'd say that if you want fresh breath, Listermint works very well. If you want to kill germs and fight decay, you may want to stay with other Listerine products.

Terrible
I accidentally grabbed the original flavor of Listerine, which was a mistake. The Listerine products are great and I use the other flavors, cool mint and freshburst daily. However, this was an exception. It tastes kind of like strong bitter cough drops and stings a lot when gargled. My kids couldn't even handle a little bit. Listerine is great but don't buy this flavor.

Listerine is the only "true" mouthwash.......
This is a must have item in any home. I tried the cool mint and the natural citrus but I like the original more because it doesn't have a funny taste and it seems stronger. The natural citrus tastes like a flat orange soda, yuck. Some tips: you can mix it with some water to make it milder (on a cold day, mix it with hot water) or you can mix it with hydrogen peroxide and then brush with it after you brush with your regular toothpaste. Start brushing with an electric toothbrush with one hand then with the other hand, use a water jet and spray the mixture to where you are brushing. This will kill even the germs hidding in the gum lines and pockets. I also use the water jet to spray it between my teeth. I use alot of Listerine. Mixing Listerine with peroxide not only make it more effective but also save alot of money because peroxide only costs about 90 cents a liter. ... Read more

I liked the taste of this mouthwash. So many of them are too strong and have a tendency to cause me to gag. The bubbles it creates in my mouth are refreshing too. I even got the kids to use it! I love the large size -- this is one of those things you go through quickly and a big bottle is better.

This scope was pretty good. It had a very nice flavor and freshened my mouth and breath. I liked that the flavor was not too overpowering like some other brands on the market. And it didn't taste strong or ""mediciney."" I used this product probably several times a day, usually after brushing my teeth, but sometimes just during the day (not after brushing teeth). I'm used to regular tasting Listerine so I was quite surprised that this didn't have as strong an acidic bite as the regular stuff. It still had the sting to show that the antiseptic qualities are working, but the mint flavor mellowed it out enough to not have to brace myself the way I used to. Listerine is also great to apply to canker and cold sores at the first sign of irritation or during a flare up and helps them go away more quickly.

What a great product! I've been using Listerine for years but the Cool Mint flavor is much more appealing than the regular flavor. It doesn't have a candy flavor like other brands. When I don't have time to brush after lunch, just rinsing my mouth with Listerine makes it feel clean. I would definitely recommend this to my family (and I have).

Cool Mint Listerine lives up to the Listerine brand name, delivering the antiseptic properties of original Listerine, but without the overwhelming medicinal taste. The Cool Mint is quite strong -- I usually rinse with cool water after using it -- but results in freshness that lasts. The medicinal taste of the original is still there, but so very slight that it's unnoticeable unless you actually try and taste for it. This product is also competitively priced. I've already ordered more for myself, and highly recommend this product to others.
