I Got Rid of My OTHER Brand and Came Back to Oral B
I had used an Oral B for years but it eventually was showing its age. My dentist, whom I trust about these things, strongly recommended an electric toothbrush made by Rotadent. I bought one and hated it from the beginning. It was different from the Oral B in that its bristles rotated in only one direction and moved more slowly than the Oral B's. And that was supposed to be some sort of advantage. But the darn thing tickled! I know you probably don't believe that something inside your mouth would tickle, but this gadget did, believe me! So, I decided to get another Braun Oral B but having just bought the Rotadent a few weeks earlier I decided not to spend an arm and a leg. So, I got this model, which was the least expensive Oral B I saw. And I have to tell you that I am really, really pleased with it. It has a vigorous action that does not tickle nor annoy. It has the two-minute timer so that you find yourself brushing and brushing until it sounds. I'd always found that to be a real plus, a motivator to keep brushing longer rather than just giving my teeth a quick once over.

But the best part is that the Oral B makes my teeth feel really clean. Also, the vigorous action really does stimulate the gums, which helps prevent periodontal disease.

I'm glad I came back to Oral B.

The clinical data have been tallied and it's true: Used correctly and faithfully, an oscillating electric toothbrush like this Oral B removes more plaque, slows the formation of tarter and strengthens the gums more effectively than a manual toothbrush. Could it get any better?

Well, yes. The Oral B 980TX comes with the original FlexiSoft head and the DualAction head, with its extra set of back-and-forth bristles. The FlexiSoft head is the one in the main picture. The longer interdental bristles jog loose debris caught between teeth. The softness combined with the oscillating action massages the gums gently while reaching below the gumline to sweep away plaque before it can harden into tarter.

The DualAction head combines the FlexiSoft's oscillating action with another set of bristles that waggle back and forth, a sort of pre-wash before the main scrubbing. The result is an even more invigorating cleaning action. The DualAction head is a bit larger than the FlexiSoft head but once you get used to it, you probably won't want to go back to the FlexiSoft alone.

Alternatively, you could use different heads depending on the shape your mouth is in. If this is your first electric toothbrush, you can expect a little bleeding as your gums toughen up, so brush for a couple weeks with the FlexiSoft head. My family has been using Interplak rotating bristle tooth brushes since the first model came out in the late 1980's.The dentist said my 12 year old son would need a currettage to clean his teeth.We were waffling on spending $99.00 on an Interplak but did.Two weeks later, he had a regular cleaning with no gum bleeding.

These are also great for kids with braces!!We now have a granddaughter who hates to floss & she gets rave reviews from both the dentist & orthodontist for her healthy teeth & gums.

Interplak & replacement toothbrushes are no longer available in our small community - Thank goodness for the internet! A few years ago we tried a Sonicare, thinking they MUST be better technology... WRONG!!Waste of money!!I think that Sonicare Sales Representatives must give kickbacks to dental offices.I say this because friends of mine in 2 states have paid over $200.00 in dental offices for the same toothbrush that is $70 to $100 less online.
