Small and expensive heads
Dear Amazonians,

The brush-head that came with my toothbrush is starting to get frazzled, and it's time to start looking for new heads.(My father always said he wanted to see me get a head...)

I'm completely unhappy about having to spend $10 per head.I don't believe I'll be getting what I pay for, because:

· The heads are small.I've never chosen a "compact head," but that's all that's available for the Sonicare.

· The bristles are a combination of soft, extra-soft, and uselessly-soft bristles.I assume that extra-soft bristles have a shorter lifetime than normally-soft bristles, which aggravates the megaprice problem.Maybe the first couple of days using the Sonicare delivers an overwhelming experience (not really) that's best overcome with extra-soft bristles, but at this point, I would be happy to have a head full of normally-soft bristles.Unfortunately, dissatisfyingly extra-soft bristles are all that's available for the Sonicare.

· The fat bottom of the head disallows putting the Sonicare far enough into my mouth to brush the back of my tongue, so I wind up having to keep a real toothbrush around, anyway.Even if I could fit the head back there, it would be too small for the job, due to my big tongue.Pardon my tangent.

Because the Sonicare is so effective, neither the head's softness nor smallness is much of a drawback.By leaving the scrubbing motions to the device, I'm able to spend more attention to aiming accurately and evenly, to avoid overscrubbing, to avoid falling asleep from boredom, and it does a better job than I could.If I could do it all over, I would choose the Sonicare again over the old method, but I'm still sickened by the single-option of expensive, minimum-value and minimum-lifetime heads.

(The real sticker-shock will happen when I have to throw away the Sonicare because the integrated Ni-Cad batteries cannot be replaced, but only mutilatingly removed for recycling.)

I give the heads 2-out-of-5 Amazonian stars because although they work, they take undue advantage of the customer.

Sonicare More Effective Than Oral B in NWU Study
My best friend has been raving about his Sonicare Elite for over a year now-- encouraging me to try it.I did a little research and saw that OralB had a similar product and wondered which had a better product-- Sonicare or Oral B.My friend finally convinced me that the Sonicare product is superior, and then I read a review on Amazon from a hygenist who said that she went to a continuing education seminar and learned that Oral B was found to be superior...

At that point, I decided to do my own research...Don't believe everything you read on here...or anywhere else, for that matter, without questioning it. ;-)

Northwestern University did a study over a 6 month period.Patients with the Sonicare did much better, but don't take my word for it.Read the study results for yourself on the National Institute of Health web site:

Good battery but poor quality toothbrush heads
I have owned the Elite Pro for 1 year and the instructions recommended changing toothbrush heads once every six months.I am now going on my 5th toothbrush head because 2 of the 4 were broken within 2 weeks of use.Basically, I noticed they just were not vibrating like when they were new.The same problem occurred on 2 of the heads.One of the metal strips responsible for producing the vibration broke loose and basically reduced its vibrating power by 50%.It is just poor quality control when the toothbrush has more power than the toothbrush head can handle.On the upside, it works great when it works, and the battery lasts 2 weeks using it twice a day, so no need to pack the relatively small recharger on vacation.

Two, count 'em
You get two, which could last up to a year.Not bad, the price is right, I've seen these at membership stores for $17.00.You'll need them.

For extra cleaning, dip your loaded toothbrush into a cup of baking soda, it's a gentle abrasive and aids in bringing the teeth up.Sure makes the teeth feel clean.

If you have a 50 year mouth (like mine) and have taken coffee and tea for many moons, a professional whitening may be in order but I'm not laying out a grand for the procedure.I'm into the hygeine aspect of sonic care, and sonic care really does take care of teeth and gums.Gums are often over brushed and wear down or neglected altogether, so remember...Sonic care for health, and looks.But there is a point in life when you either accept the aging and yellow hue or shell out some cash for a cosmetic cleaning procedure. ... good value for a good brush
These replacement brushes do exactly what they're supposed to: they're good quailty, they last a good amount of time and they're effective.
Some people recommend the compact brushes for reaching all the way to the back of the mouth, but frankly I have no problem with this one.Hey - no - that doesn't mean I've got a big mouth - stop that!
Seriously though, brushing teeth doesn't get easier than this.

Wouldn't Go Back
Several years back, my dentist and also my periodontal specialist both recommended I consider using an electric toothbrush to help clean my teeth. It also helps fight for my gums against periodontal disease. I wasn't so sure about investing $100 more, especially in a toothbrush. My wife finally bought me one and I have never looked back. My teeth look better. I have less plaque, less bleeding gums, less problems, less cavities. I don't think $10 every six months for new heads is too much to invest in keeping my natural teeth as long as I can.

Sonicare is the wave of the future
The biggest complaint I hear from people about electric tootbrushes is that the replacement heads are too expensive. Come now, that was the type of thinking that would have killed the Industrial Revolution!

For anyone who really cares about dental hygeine or even just the way they look to other people, you can't not use an electric toothbrush anymore. I laughed at the idea at first, but once I began using one I will never be able to use a regular toothbrush again without feeling like my mouth isn't clean. When you go to the dentist--what type of toothbrush does he/she use on you? Electric--for a reason, because it cleans better.

The marginally higher cost of replacing the heads rather than buying an entirely new disposable toothbrush is insignificant when you actually feel as clean as you can when you use an electric brush. Personal dental care has evolved to the next step, and you don't want to be caught be the last person using a slide ruler because you were too frugal to purchase the more expensive but more effective calculator.

Your teeth (and anyone who comes in contact with them) will thank you.

I have been brushing with a sonicare for 18 months. My dentist recommended it to me, especially because I was getting braces. I can't believe how clean my teeth look and feel. Making a dent in the war against tooth decay
This review is about the Oral-B Flexisoft replacement heads. Coupled with the Braun electric toothbrushes, this is one of the most effective aids to oral hygiene ever developed. My introduction to Oral-B goes back over 27 years to a USAF basic training briefing; a dental technician held up an Oral-B toothbrush with medium bristles and said "this is the toothbrush you need if you want to keep your teeth" or some such statement like that. Well, I haven't lost one yet.

The motorized mechanicals of the toothbrush do most of the work while you guide the oscillating round head around and over your pearly whites. While the heads are undeniably pricey when looked at just in dollars and cents, there is value in the fact that the total package actually makes a rather mundane chore a little more fun while actually living up to the claim that it does a better job on your teeth than manual brushing.

Since I've always believed the entire surface area of the toothbrush head was meant to be covered with toothpaste and the size of the head on these is smaller than the average brush, I know I'm using less toothpaste to do the same job. While this is no big deal, the long term economic benefit is plaque under control, healthy gums and a bright smile full of natural teeth; it's kind of hard to deny it works. My dentist has confirmed this on direct examination.

Just be careful what model of these brush heads you are selecting and watch the pricing. Oral-B uses a kind of color code for the bristles, and the ones that have colored bristles in a line with the shaft are the Flexisoft model that seems to equate to medium hardness.

Effective and Efficient
These brushes are a very effective way of thoroughly cleaning your teeth and gums.The soft bristles clean your teeth and massage your gums efficiently, and the color bands are a convenient way to color-code heads for multiple users.There's even a spare in case you lose one.

Of course you should still floss before brushing, but the small soft brush and the speed of the rotation makes daily dental hygiene easy and painless.

When I ordered this item, it was shipped by an Amazon partner, who packaged it in a HUGE box, filled with plastic packing material.I could hardly find the small package inside the carton.

High marks for the product, huge waste of packing material and postage for the packaging.

Great product, but use gently
i've been a regular flosser and brusher for several years, to the delight of my hygentist (and myself).Recently I bought the oral-b brush replacement 3pack and began adding it to my evening teeth cleaning.After a few weeks I noticed tenderness in some of my gums.I began brushing as usual, omitting the oral b, and the pain subsided.I think maybe I was pressing too hard, as if I were brushing with a manual toothbrush.I like the feeling of the oral b cleaning, but, as in all oral care, be careful not to brush too hard or you'll do damage to get that amazing clean feeling!

Worth the price
[This price] for three heads may seem pricey given what you can pick up three toothbrushes for, but the Braun electric toothbrush is really very effective, so for good dental hygiene it is worth getting.

More bristles, more buzzzzzz.
One of these brush heads came with my Oral B 980TX power toothbrush.I liked it so much more than the regular FlexiSoft head that I immediately ordered the 3-pack.

The extra bristles with their side-to-side oscillation add more oomph to the Oral B's tingle-inducing cleaning action.I can feel it all the way to the base of each tooth.When I rinse, I see more loosened debris swirling down the drain.I finish my evening brushing with a hydrogen peroxide rinse, and, man oh man, does it get foamy, an indication of freshly cleaned dental and gum surfaces.

The price is already a bargain but with additional available discounts like Free Super Saver Shipping and the A9 Instant Reward, it's a steal.

It worked okay, but it really feels big
I had read the reviews about this bigger head, and I thought cool, twice the brushing power in the same amount of time!However, after having received it, I'm a little dissappointed.It doesn't appear as though it's that big, but it feels very large in mouth.It felt like I was trying to brush my teeth with my thumb.I had trouble getting the brush into the far reaches of my mouth whereas before with the smaller head I had no problems.I'm not a small person either, I'm 6'1" and 190lbs, with an average size mouth.It's really not that different than the standard head, it's just bigger.I think what bothered me most about the bigger head is that the angles at which you approach your teeth are now more limited because of the increased brush size.Because of this, getting the brush into every nook and cranny is now more difficult.Also, because it is bigger, it's harder to close your mouth around the wand, which means you get more toothpaste goo running down the brush.

Unfortunately, I bought the economical 3-pack.I should have bought the single one just to try it out, but I was certain I'd love the bigger one.Oh well...

worth it
I was leery of the shape at first, but after one brushing, I'm hooked!The teeth are much slicker compared to the standard round head after brushing.The head is bigger, but the round part can reach hard spots.

Works Geat....Economical in Three-pack
The Oral-B DualAction EB417 refill brush will fit into most Oral B power brushes. Almost all replacements for Oral -B do. I did notice in the buyer info though, that this one will not fit the CrossAction power brush. I bought this as a replacement for a single head brush, so at first it felt to big for my mouth. But with use I got used to holding it at different angles to get the most from the dual action heads.

You get twice the cleaning action with this two head power brush. It gets into tight places(practically like flossing), reaches the back teeth nicely, gives a great massaging action for your gums, and does a good job of removing plaque, leaving your mouth feeling totally refreshed. It will last a long time(I found nearly 3 months, brushing 2x a day). The thing is, with a power brush, you only need to hold it gently and guide it. If you use it like a regular toothbrush, and help it brush, or press too hard, it will not last as long. This one, as most Oral-B power brushes, indicates when it is time for a new brush(colors fade). The packaging has a picture showing you the difference of new and used. Also, just a small amount of your favorite toothpaste, goes along way.

Buying them in this 3 pack is the most economical way to go. It's almost like getting one for free. My package also came with 4 different color rings that fit at the base of the handle where it connects to the charging base. These different colors are great for telling each brush apart from the others.

I would consider myself a bit OCD when it comes to oral hygiene, flossing daily and typically brushing 3 times over in a brushing.My usual routine goes as follows:Brush w/o toothpaste to loosen stuff, rinse with Plax, then brush 2 times with toothpaste.This is the only way my mouth feels clean.

I recently noticed an area where the gum line has receded due to my agressive brushing so I decided to get the Ultrasonix (since I'd be less likely to cause more damage).I received it yesterday and had the chance to use it today- my teeth have only felt this clean leaving the dentist office.I would highly recommend this product.I can't honestly compare it to any other electric toothbrush from experiance, only convential brushes but this seems to be the most advanced one out there and also is priced better than the Sonicare brush.I normally don't write reviews but I was so impressed with product I just had to share.
