Great For Back Pain

I first recieved a box of Therma Care in the mail to try. I have lupus, so back pain is a regular part of my daily life. I tried one immediately, and was very impressed by the quick warming, and sustained gentle heat. All day long it kept my lower back comfortable and much less achy.

They are easy to put on and stay put fairly well. There is some rolling of the stretchy fabric, which requires adjusting periodically.

The main difficulty, which prevented me giving this product 5 stars is sizing. My husband, who had sustained a severe l5 injury years ago, was in pain one night. I gave him one of my patches, which he tried to apply. His tummy is rather large and the stretch fabric tore. I had to tape it on his back to keep it in place. I feel that if Therma Care is going to market these in an extra large size, they need to be certain it can accomodate a truly extra large size. After all, a large part of overweight syndrome is back pain.

Still, the product itself is wonderful for easing the aches and pains associated with some injuries or long term back pain.

Try winter fishing with it
I took a friend out fishing who had a back so sore, he said he didn't think he would make it out with us the next day.I asked the druggist what I could do for him, and he suggested we try this.It not only helped his back, but I noticed he was getting too comfortable fishing on that cold day.He was even unzipping his coat!!

Now when I go fishing in the winter, and I know it is going to be cold... I put one of these hummers on.Put underneath your cold weather gear, it does a great job of not only providing a little more back support, but keeps you warm all day!!They should be selling this in the sports stores in the winter...Sure beats those handwarmers....

ThermaCare Back wraps
The box contains two wraps that are individually packaged in pouches and cost about $5.99. These are disposable and in white with the size for the back wraps either S/M or L/XL. I chose large, which is for size nine and over for females and males with a 35-inch waist or more. The smaller size is up to size eight for women and up to 34-inch waist for men.

This can be worn for up to eight hours so to get the maximum benefit I would suggest using this daytime hours because they are for one time use only. I would compare this product to the black waist belts you might see delivery drivers wearing. This just wraps around your backside with the black inner discs facing your skin and then stretch to link the velcro closure.

It is easy to go about your business while wearing this plus they suggest this for car or airplane use and can be worn while doing manual labor or exercising. I was able to use restroom facilities and eat with no problem but cannot attest to how this holds up during sexual relations. Well anyway if the member of the opposite sex says they have a backache you could always pick up a box of ThermaCare™ Therapeutic HeatWraps to warm them up.

Although it is not mentioned on the pouch or the outer box, I believe this is not intended to get wet or be used in the shower.Once you open the pouch the wrap is to be placed on your backside and within thirty minutes the heat will activate. It seems to work within 15 minutes and does not get very hot, unless you are sitting on a chair and lean back very straight and then you feel some heat and comfort. I tend to slouch so this will produce more heat when you place your hand on the back against the discs.

The ThermaCare™ Therapeutic HeatWraps move with you as you bend and not once has it ever come off and when you remove it there is no imprint from this being on your body for a period of several hours. If only there was a way to save it so you could store up four hours one time and do another four hours another period of time.

Each disc contains two grams of iron and is not to be worn by those with diabetes. If you are pregnant consult your Doctor beforehand. This is not for children and has the potential to cause skin irritation or burns and should not be placed on broken skin or lacerations. There are to be no lotions or creams applied to the area this will be placed and not to be used on areas that have had swelling or bruising within the last forty-eight hours.

This really feels very good when placed on my back and hardly noticeable after awhile. This is not to be placed in the microwave and check with your Doctor if you have poor circulation.

You get the feeling of a heating pad while sitting and not having to deal with wires and plugs or dials and settings. You will realize the nice feeling is now gone when you remove the wrap from your back. This can be adjusted easily and move around to get other areas of your back and side to feel the discs. This also resembles a karate type belt with a non-irritating texture that did not itch my sensitive skin, but relieved the pressure on my back allowing for a restful sleep.

God Send
I have fibromyalgia, a disorder of chronic pain and fatigue in which your muscles are tense and form knots at various places through out your body.There are times that no amount of relaxation techniques (including therapeutic massage etc) will touch the tension/pain.At those times this product produces an extended, low level of constant heat.When used for the 8 hours allowed by directions my muscular tension reduces SIGNIFICANTLY.This heat CAN BE Adjusted by meerely adding and subtracting clothing layers (think sweater).This also will assist in holding the product onto the targeted skin.With my intense pain and tension, any cost is OK if it just WORKS!This product WORKS!!

ThermaCare Air-Activated HeatWraps
These heat wraps are phenomenal for lower back pain and allow the freedom of moving about without having to deal with plugs and cords. They are especially helpful for long car trips and vacations.Both my husband and I have herniated disks in the L-5 region, but they do get a bit costly if used very often, as the lumbar wraps have only 2 per package.

Slow to warm, but great once it does
It seems to take about 10 mins or so for the thing to really warm up, but it really stays warm once it does.
Great for sore muscles and also cramps. Like the fact that it's portable and doesn't take a great deal of space.
Only problem was really getting it to stay where I wanted without holding it in place. Overall, highly recommend for the occassional stiff neck and shoulders.

Didn't work
Perhaps there is a reason these are on sale for half off? Three separate packs were used out of my box -- each became only slightly heated. After applying the first wrap, I couldn't tell if it was working or not; that's how un-warm it was.That's why I opened another. This one felt warmer, but it never became hot, or even warm enough to cause any relief to the sore, crampy muscles. Fantastic
Ever since I brought this product home, we use it almost every day, all year around. It has been a lifesaver for aching muscles, sore joints and just feeling comfortable. We have gone through many heating packs over the years, of all different types and this is by far the best one ever. It is easy to use, lasts a very long time both in durability and the time it keeps its heat (we have found it can last up to 8 hours when we use it at the foot of our bed to keep our feet warm), and is very inexpensive.

Because we love them so much and because they are so inexpensive yet are perceived as being costly, Two years ago we gave one to each of our family members for Christmas and it is the only present we have ever given to family that they continue to thank us for! Thank you Cryopak!

wrong product and no refund
The item I ordered (heat pad) was not shipped.Instead, I received a bottle of melatonin, which I promptly returned.After 4 weeks I still had not received a refund.I regard the supplier of this item to be highly unreliable based on this experience. My husband ordered one of these for me as a gift.It says nothing in the description about being filled with lavender, but when it arrived, you could definitely tell it was!As I am very scent sensitive, it had to be returned.So, if you are sensitive to perfumes and scents, do not buy this product!

WHY DIDN'T IT LAST LONGER?
I still have a 21 year old 12X12 old GE heating pad I'm using again now since my NEW (received March 16, 2004) wonderfully large more versatile TheraP King Heating Pad suddenly ceased to work a couple of months ago. Giving it a rest I thought might help but now I'm convinced it's finished. The buttons light up and the AUTO SHUT-OFF goes off on time but no heat. As an elderly neck and shoulder arthritis sufferer, the AUTO-SHUT-OFF was great because it enabled me to get to sleep while the heat was still decreasing the pain. I notice other reviewers have made reference to the short life of the AUTO SHUT-OFF pads. I can't help but wonder if it would be such an insurmontable feat for the companies to somehow extend the life of this product. I certainly wouldn't think they would figure to sell more if the Heating Pads wear out faster?

Unreliable product
I have bought two of this model and neither one of them lasted very long at all, with normal and appropriate use. They both eventually stopped working completely, but before that, they became very unreliable. The buttons would light up and the lights would "run" up and down the control pad crazily! Then it would stop completely, or it would stay on and not turn off when the 'off' button was pressed; or the different heat settings didn't work and would only stay on "high"/hottest. Sometimes it would just turn on all by itself with no one even near it! These were not even used very much. When they worked, they were very comfy. They just didn't work very well or very long. VERY, VERY disappointing.

I hoped this would be well designed and reliable. It died very soon after I got it. Pay more, get less value.. this might be an exception to the normal quality of Home Medics but I will never trust their products again. What are the odds of me receiving something that passed quality control but didn't survive one month after?

Very soothing...
I really like thermocare products. I have used this one, the lower back one and the knee style.They work in a similar way ...you peel off the protective strip and stick it on, or wrap it on.

These really do last for hours and stay warm the whole time.Its a nice property as anything I would have to heat up myself doesn't stay warm very long...the thermocare products also maintain a steady temperaturewhere as the heatable heat products start out hot...too hot alot...and get cooler very rapidly.

It takes about 30 minutes to come to temperature so hang in there.I don't find these too hot for me, but everyone is different.

I will say that I think this particular one should be longer. Its too short for me if I need it for my neck and shoulders, it simply doesnt reach all areas.I would like it to be twice as long.They are also fairly expensive with very few per box...

All that said, for me they are worth it.I have been buying them for over a year now and when I need one I am ALWAYS glad I have one in the closet.

I will take anything without an automatic shut off
After reading the review regarding no automatic shutoff, I purchased 4 Soft Heat heating pads.Larger would be nicer, but they heat well and as they don't have automatic shutoffs, I will be going back for more.Target sells them for 9.99.
For many years, we have been buying heating pads for our arthritic and renal failure pets and for ourselves also.I recently purchased some Dunlap heating pads with automatic shutoffs by mistake - even though many of them do not seem to last more than a few months, the larger size is nice and they are cheap.It was not great to check on one of our more critical pets to find his new Dunlap control blinking red and the pad cold.I WILL NEVER KNOWINGLY PURCHASE ANOTHER HEATING PAD WITH AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF!!

Great Value
I bought this heating pad after doing a lot of research. I have tried heating pads by Sunbeam, Homedics and several other companies but never found what I was looking for. I have severe back problems and this heating pad provides instantaneous relief to my sore muscles. The temperature can be adjusted; the pad never gets too hot but yet its hot enough to ease muscle tension and spasms. The size is just ideal too, unless you need a pad to cover a very large surface area, go for this pad! You won't regret it. Its a small investment to make for anyone who needs a heating pad. The reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it doesn't have an auto shut off feature. Nevertheless its worth the money!

Read item description carefully!
I read the item description, and was sure this pad was 14x24 inches. Imagine my surprise today, when finally getting it out, to find it was a dinky 12"x14"!!! That's too small to be good for anything! There is no foam padding between the heating coils and the cover, so that the only tolerable heat setting is low. The 'safety' instructions are printed on the fabric cover for the heating pad -- both unattractive and unnecessary. Useful for elderly people
My elderly father is quite ill, and often gets chilled to the point of shaking.My sister gave him one of these, and he loves it. He can microwave it by himself, and put it around his neck or grasp it in his thin, cold hands. He has also put it next to his stomach when he felt uncomfortable after surgery.Filled with some sort of grain product, it's bendable, smells good, (like creamed corn or jasmine rice), and stays warm for about 30-45".

In Dad's relatively slow microwave oven, it takes about 3" to heat; after each one minute of heating, i shake it to distribute the warm parts evenly. Then i test it to ensure it won't burn Dad. In a more modern, faster microwave, it would only take about 2", i'd expect. i highly recommend this product.

I Love My Buddy!
Friends, listen up!I have been companions with my Buddy for almost 10 years and let me tell you, this is the most awesome product that I have ever owned!I have stress and tension headaches alot and it is just so great and convienent to just toss him into the microwave and presto, instant relaxation!
I can't even guess as to how many times I have taken Buddy to bed with me, seriously.All jokes aside, I really cannot say enough about this amazing item.I wouldn't live without mine.
