5-0 out of 5 stars I LoVE THESETHINGS!
Okay, I know and have heard it a thousand times "don't put them in your ears."

But I love doing it. It feels so awesome and clean and personal.

Now there is one issue to really be careful about, and that is this: I used to surf alot,
and all of a sudden I started to feel like I had water in my ears all the time.

It was so bad that I went to a doctor to check up on it. He told me that I had
scraped away all the protective wax inside my ear canal, and that's why my ears
were getting saturated with water. He advised me to back off on the amount of
times I used the qtips inside my ears. I did, and the condition went away, and
everything returned to normal, which it still is to this day many years later.

The key is that you can't use them in your ears too often, or else you scrape away
the way. I AM NOT ADVISING ANYONE TO STICK THESE IN THEIR EARS!!!
BUT, if you do it, don't do it too much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product for a zillion years...
There's a reason why these guys have been around for years.Their quality and price have made them the best value there is for cotton swabs. They do the job, however interesting that that may be, and come back for more. They're indispensable if you have a baby or young children, but they grow with you into adulthood as well. There's some things you shouldn't buy the generic and this is one of them. They've been around for years and for good reason - they're great!

4-0 out of 5 stars Gettin' on the 'tip...
Good God-- you know you've hit the bottom of the barrel as an Amazon customer reviewer when you're inspired to write a review for Q-Tips ! In my case, the inspiration struck during my last trip to the can... which was just a short while ago as of this writing, BTW. Yep, I was just sittin' there doin' my... er, thing... when I noticed the blue box of double-tipped cotton swaps peekin' out of the far corner of the medicine cabinet. I stared at the thing for a good ten seconds, all the while thinkin' about what I'd say about the product. After mappin' it all out I got my business over with, washed my hands, and rushed to my word processor to type up the following commentary:

While just about everybody have discovered the earwax removing properties ofQ-Tips (don't forget to observe the "Don't go into the ear canal" rule, please), I've also found them useful for forcing sneezes to help clear out a runny nose & stuffed-up sinuses. And yes, I am aware that I'm likely risking some kind of physical damage by doin' this, which is why I recommend you NOT try it! The last thing I need is to be sued by some yutz who tried to get himself to sneeze with a Q-Tip and hurt himself!

With the assistance of rubbing alcohol, Q-Tips are also pretty good for cleanin' out an "innie" (a rubbing alcohol-covered cotton ball would be a better option if your "innie" is particularly cavernous), removing collected food & dandruff deposits from those hard-to-reach recesses of a computer keyboard, and gettin' those last few specks of crud off the rollers inside a computer mouse. Please note, however, that rubbing alcohol gradually dissolves the stuff that holds the cotton to the swab stick, so you'd better have a decent handful at the ready for those extensive computer peripheral cleanups...

5-0 out of 5 stars A MULTI-PURPOSE LITTLE COTTON SWAB...
If one wants cotton swabs that are made with a hundred percent pure cotton and have more soft cotton at the tip than any other brand, then this is the cotton swab one wants. With five hundred of these little things at one's disposal, they will last for a considerable length of time.

These cotton swabs are ideal for a number of uses. While the most common and popular use consists of sticking it in one's ears and giving the Q-tip a twirl in an attempt to clean them, one should be mindful that they are not designed to enter one's ear canal. In fact , the manufacturer cautions the buyer to only gently swab around the outer surface of the ears, if the swabs are used to clean ears.

Still, there are many other uses. In my household, these cotton swabs are often used for applying eye shadow, as well. I also used it when polishing furniture. If one has furniture that has carving, which is notorious for attracting dust and dirt in tight spots, dipping these handy, dandy little cotton swabs in lemon oil and then applying the soaked swab to those pesky little nooks and crannies, inherent in any carved piece, will remove that otherwise hard to reach dust, dirt, and grime.

Anyway, at this price one should not hesitate to buy these multi-purpose cotton swabs, as they are a good value and guaranteed to give the buyer a lot of bang for one's buck.

5-0 out of 5 stars An audiophile archaelogist's dream
Truly, these q-tips have to be one of the greatest wonders of the 20th century. You just stick it in the ear and dig through, much like the special drilling machines dug their way to make the Chunnelbetween France and England. The tips are soft and the sticks are flexible allowing for extra precision when you can't quite reach for the holy of holies. Expereinced users have been known to derive much pleasure out of these tips and even excavated so much cerumen as that it was able to determine their age by the color graduations. They surely are superior to the arms of your eyeglasses' frame or your trusty old Black & Decker drill. Only trouble is, when your wife will ask you to take out the garbage, set the table or perform one of countless chores that wives want their husbands to do, you won't be able to say "What?!!!?...I can't hear you" anymore. So hide these form the old Missus ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For outer ear cleaning, and many, many other things
Q-Tips have been around for as long as I can remember. They were designed for cleaning the OUTER surfaces of the ear, and are not to be used to clean the ear canal.

*imagines ear drum being punctured during a sneeze while misusing a Q-Tip to clean the ear canal*

Whatever they were designed for, Q-Tips have probably been used in dozens, if not hundreds, of other ways. They are ideal for cleaning any small area. One example: add a few drops of lighter fluid, and you can clean out the tracks of sliding windows. I've tried several other cotton swab brands, but they just don't hold up as well.I had said cleaning any small area, but, of course, I meant any small area EXCEPT the ear canal.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Miracle for Anyone with Asperger's/ADD
If you have Asperger's SYndrome or ADD (I have Asperger's myself), your excessive distractability can easily distract you from any tasks that you perform, causing you to drift from activity to activity without completing any of the activities. THus results in great inefficiency and very poor time management. Why? Sensory overload will overwhelm an Aspie/person with ADD, causing this to happen.

I am an ambitious person with Asperger's who is going into the International Baccalaureate program and who aspires to Caltech or MIT. Unfortunately however, my excessive distractibility led me to excessive procrastination as I wasn't even able to work on my homework very efficiently (my procrastination led to a grade drop too; it was only through sympathetic teachers that my GPA didn't drop significantly). Furthermore, I couldn't stand certain sensory stimuli, causing me to cover my ears if someone went to the bathroom (yes, I cannot stand the sound of any bathroom sounds). The constant breaking of my concentration caused me to forfeit my homework until the very end, when the stress of an immediate deadline coerced me into finishing my homewokr assignments. Of course, this extreme procrastination had many negtive impacts on my work quality and I even turned in several assignments late.

Yet, I still spent as much time on homework, even more, than my peers. This resulted in having no time for any extra-curricular activities whatsoever, and caused me to doubt my own intelligence, leading to an huge decrease in my self-esteem.

Enter the earplugs. Initially, I gave up on them because they became uncomfortable only after a few minutes. You'll have to deal with the initial discomfort at first, but the rewards will be MIRACULOUS once you wear them for extended periods of time. With one's concentration no longer broken and the distractions gone, any person with Asperger's or ADD who wants to complete their homewokr efficiently and quickly will want to use this product. Mere words are too little to explain my joy of finally finding the product; if not for this, I would probably have to drop the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

These products do wear out after some time although they're still well-worth the cost! They should last for several months each.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product - Fits and feels great
I've tried many types of ear plugs to block out noise and this is by far the best one I've used.

The size of the ear plug is perfect size and it expands and fits perfectly in the ear canal to block out noise. Other ear plugs can be too hard or too soft or feel awkward wearing but these fit great.

I use them to study and sleep in noisy areas. This package also contains a small plastic carrying case that can carry about a pair of ear plugs. The case is handy so you can carry them with you anywhere you go. The price is also very reasonable here on amazon. I definitely recommend them to block out all types of noise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for lil swimmers!
My 6 year old has tubes in her ears, yet LOVES to swim! I have tried ALL types of ear plugs and these are by far the best! I used to use the type that were like putty, and I had to press them in her hear so hard, it hurt her.

Now that I have used the foam ear plugs, I will never use another! They are comfortable and keep my childs ears dry even when she in the pool for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product, better than a generic
There are some things you shouldn't buy a generic for and this is one of them. They are just larger and more softer than the off brands out there and when you need a larger piece of cotton, you really can't beat these.I've used them for everything over the years and you really have to have them for a baby.I'm glad to have found them and when you really go out and compare, there really isn't any comparison.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best at Blocking Noise.
I discovered foam ear plugs when I lived in New York City, where they were commonly sold in subway stations. Silicone, plastic, and wax earplugs had proven insufficient defense against loud neighbors and street noise. These foam earplugs were far more effective and comfortable than other types. I think I literally would not have survived years living in places even louder than New York if not for these earplugs. I couldn't have slept without them.

The ear plugs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 29 decibels, which is higher than any other ear plugs on the market. They block out a lot of noise, but they are more effective at blocking higher frequency sound than low-frequency. This means that you won't be able to hear the telephone if you sleep with ear plugs in, but you might hear the neighbor's lawn mower. Their effectiveness at blocking out noise from machinery really depends upon the pitch, but foam ear plugs will always lower the volume somewhat. They're pretty good at blocking background chatter, television, or music.

I've used both Flents "Quiet! Please" and E*A*R brands, which are identical apart from color. Flents are off-white. E*A*R plugs are yellow. They are easy to use. You simply roll the ear plug between your fingers to squish it, then insert it in your ear canal. It expands to fit your ear snugly. Each ear plug can be used a few times before it has to be trashed. If you need noise relief in order to sleep or concentrate, Flents "Quiet! Please" ear plugs will be a great help.

5-0 out of 5 stars Actually LISTEN a metal concert.
Want to go to a Slayer, King Diamond or Entombed concert and actually hear the perfomance? Then wear these soft, comfortable ear plugs. I have been going to concerts since my late teens head-banging to the metal gods but now as a working schlubb I need my hearing and for only $3 and better decibel protection than most ear muff type ear protection, how much is your hearing worth?

5-0 out of 5 stars Multi Functional Plugs
Whether you are mowing your lawn, cutting the hedges or just trying to get some well-deserved sleep these earplugs do the trick. These are quite effective and do really work. It was truly unbelievable when I went to trim my hedges. I couldn't believe how these really reduced the sound to a soft whisper. These are amazing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Plugs for Sleeping
These plugs are the best for sleeping... I've tried many types and like these the most. Other plugs have a tendecy to fall out during the night because of their shape, but these ear plugs are short and cylindrical which keeps that from happening very often. The plugs expand when placed in your ear to keep out any noise. They also get 'stale' overtime, and need to be replaced.

5-0 out of 5 stars They saved my marriage!
My husband snores... LOUDLY!The choice was to sleep in separate bedrooms, or try some ear plugs.I must have tried every kind on the market; wax, putty, rubber...They were all pretty uncomfortable and/or messy to handle. Then I tried Flents foam plugs, and they work like a dream. They took some getting used to (for awhile I noticed that I was removing them in my sleep), but now they stay in all night. They are super easy to insert.Just roll them between your fingers until they are thin and tuck them in!The foam expands inside the ear for a snug fit that muffles my husband's snoring.Of course, they don't make you deaf, which is nice, but they drown out the annoying sounds so I can fall asleep and stay asleep. They're also great for avoiding rude awakenings caused by ringing phones, false alarms of home security systems, and by the clinking sounds of my dogs' collar tags when they decide to scratch in the middle of the night. One pair of foam plugs can be re-used three or four times.Just store them in an air tight container when not in use until it's time for a new pair. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars BEST PRODUCT IN THE WORLD!!!!!
I only wish I would have found these 10 years ago!!! I am always in tears in baggage claims in every airport and it is annoying, painful and can really damper the mood of a vacation!!
I flew with these and it was if I had never even flown.I was apprehensive about them really working but now I will never leave the ground without them! Thank you whoever invented these little miracle gadgets!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for when you have a wicked cold
Got a cold? Have to fly? Don't leave home without them. I have used these ear plugs on two separate trips when I had a bit of a cold - they work wonderfully. Follow the directions and you should be golden.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Necessity for Flying
I agree whole-heartedly with the previous reviewer. I fly often for business and to visit family. Before EarPlanes it was not uncommon for me to be in tears from the pain of pressure changes on take-off, landing and even in-flight. No more! I usually leave the EarPlanes in throughout the flight if the duration is less than 4 hours. They protect against sudden changes due to turbulence or the pilot changing altitudes. I also love the decreased noise since the engines can be quite loud. I have recently flown a number of times with my infant son and I have no trouble interacting with him or recognizing his needs. (I was a little worried about that due to the noise reduction.) Finally, this price is absolutely the best one I have ever seen for this product and well-worth it!

5-0 out of 5 stars NO more ear pain
I have been using EarPlanes for almost ten years now.In 1992, I had a very bad flight experience with severe ear pain and several days of hearing loss - this was quite unexpected although I'd had some minor discomfort previously which was relieved by chewing gum or taking a pre-flight decongestant.I will not fly without getting a pair of EarPlanes. An added benefit, particularly if you are flying alone, is that ambient noise is quieted, making it easier to read or otherwise concentrate on relaxation; you can still hear announcements. If the flight is long enough you can safely remove the EarPlanes while the aircraft is at cruising altitude.I have only used the adult version of EarPlanes but based on my experiences with them I would recommend that parents keep a pair on hand for each child - you never know if you're going to start needing them. ... Great product, multi-use. Works well for putting on and taking off makeup and nail polish. Even used one as a makeshift gauze beneath a bandage. Inexpensive enough to use and toss and tough enough to reuse if needed. Would recommend for anyone who wears makeup daily.

I really like the fact that they are lint-free (compared to regular cotton) and are very absorbent. Compared to the regular sized cotton balls, they're wonderful. But, I still like the feel of the jumbo sized cotton balls better than these. I haven't had a chance to use them yet for removing polish, but I'm willing to bet that they work better than just about anything (because of the lint factor). I'd recommend these to a friend if they didn't like regular cotton balls.

Don't be deceived by all these popular reviews... Honestly, I could swear the maker, family and relatives, must be on here writing reviews for their own product...

The silicon ear pieces are very hard to mold correctly. When you place it over your ears, even tiny gaps can allow sound to pass through, rendering the piece essentially useless.

Not only that, I think my hearing IMPROVED with the pieces on. I could detect smaller sounds. Everything seemed amplified.

I shared my ear piece with my roommates. They too had a similiar opinion. This product is definitely NOT for everyone.

The silicon deforms very easily.Save yourself money. I think it would be worth it to spend more money on professional ear muffs rather than these cheaper, non-working ear pieces.

Plus, consider the fact that shipping and handling significantly adds on to the cost of the product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very quiet, but edible?
Bought these a week ago to deal with my neighbor's new rooster (I live in an urban area, isn't it crazy!) before the city's animal care organization deals with it.These earplugs are extremely comfortable as they are like soft and pliable putty. They form an excellent seal and lock out sound efficiently. And they are even comfortable to sleep with and stay in better (you won't take them out in your sleep due to discomfort). One thing that I really like about them is that unlike other plugs (foam for instance) you don't have to shove these far into your ear canal (which might make those of you who get ear infections often squeamish). All in all, an excellent product.

However! One caveat!I've used them for a few days now, and suddenly I found that my bedroom was crawling with ants.I never keep food in my room so I looked around and sure enough there were 6-7 ants inside the CLOSED plastic case (that ships with the plugs) containing my unused pairs of earplugs.Somehow these things are edible or appear to be edible to ants.I am going to contact the company soon and see what they might have to say about this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best for noise!
I have been using these for over 10 years. Other foam plugs don't even compare. They are so comfortable and really block out most noise.I always travel with them, especially when I am sharing a room with someone. When I went to a retreat last summer, I brought several boxes with me.I was the most popular person in the entire group at bedtime. I have nightmares that this company may go out of business someday and I will never get to sleep again!

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't live without them
These seem to be better then the foam ear plugs. I have found that the foam ones fall out and hurt my ears after a while. These really work wonders. I can even sleep next to my snoring husband! They are not uncomfortable at all and two pieces (which I pull one apart to make two because they are too big) lasts a week or two. After that you can throw them out or, if you are desperate, wash them with some soap and water and use again. One box lasts me about 2 months before I have thrown them all away from from loss of flexibility. ... Read more

My daughter is extremely sensitive to air pressure changes.Airplane decents are very painful events for her - and for those around her.But just pop these in a few minutes before the plane starts decending and she's just fine.Highly recommended for kids with this problem. Also great for any kid when they have a headcold, which usually makes it difficult to "pop" your ears by swallowing. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Works well for those who hate listening to a snoring husband
I purchased these ear plugs one night when my husband and I had to make a quick trip up to Walgreens. As he rummaged through the clearance section as he usually does, I walked around the store looking at various products -- when suddenly, a colorful array of ear plugs on the wall next to the pharmacy caught my eye.Curious and sick of listening to my husband's snoring, I decided to take a look at what they had.I work at Target on the sales floor and had seen these particular ear plugs numerous times while working, and always wanted to try them out because my husband's snoring bothers me so much. While my husband really does not snore all that loudly, when I am trying to fall asleep even the slightest noises really bother me (once I have fallen asleep, I am usually fine with regards to noise). And since I usually go to sleep after he does, it creates a bit of a problem wherein he is being yelled at, jabbed, and nudged (and sometimes kicked) all throughout the night ;) And then neither of us get any sleep. So, I decided to purchase them for the decent price of $2.99 for 5 sets of 2 and a small plastic carrying case.

As soon as we returned home, I had to try them out -- so I read the directions and then waited until my husband and I were having a conversation (ha!), and I snuck them into my ears.I was amazed to find that, while I could hear him, it was as if he were yelling to me from hundreds of feet away and I could barely make out what he was saying.

As others have stated, they are a bit difficult to get into the ear canal -- really, you have to be very quick at placing them in your ears after smashing them into the small cylinder shape (as the instructions direct).I found myself having to re-smash them multiple times before getting it right! You must be sure to follow the directions carefully, as they will not work well if you do not have them placed in your ear canal properly.

After you've gotten them into place correctly, they really do eliminate much of the sound around you.I have them in my ears now as I am typing this, with the keyboard no more than 1.5 feet away, and I cannot hear myself typing.

The larger end of the ear plugs make it very easy to grasp them when you are putting them in and taking them out. They are a bit uncomfortable at first, but you will most likely get use to them after a few minutes.

My only qualm about these ear plugs is one that I really have with all foam ear plugs - the feeling of pressure. The feeling of the pressure in my ears almost gives me a headache.

Otherwise, they work very well and I would definitely recommend them.

4-0 out of 5 stars As Anti-Yell-Phone Devices:Good, but still not strong enough
As a commuter, I have discovered the value of earplugs to reduce somewhat the horrendous sound of inconsiderate LOUD yell-phone talkers. These Leight Sleeper Plugs are good because they have an enlarged end that prevents you from sticking them too far in, and also makes them easy to remove. The carrying case is quite useful and easy to clean, as are the plugs themselves. A set like this should last you a long time.
However, a 32 sound reduction rating is still not strong enough for some of us. If some charming hell-phoner sits next to, beside, or in front of me, the jig is up. I can still hear their horrendous yakking loud and clear. But, in general, I can say these plugs are very effective and wonderful to have because they virtually eliminate all noise but that which is very close to you. (I recommend putting them in BEFORE they start shouting on those phones, by the way.) Also, very loud noises, including conductor's announcements, come through these earplugs, so you do not have to worry about it getting 'too' quiet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expand to fit your ear canal
Less comfortable than the Mack's Earplugs, but actually they are
not too bad. I just don't like the feeling of pressure
on the inside of my ear canal. I guess you can get used to anything.

As far as noise reduction goes, they work pretty well.

The noise reduction rating is 32

Yes, you can still hear through them, but they take
    the edge off the noise.

Not suitable for swimming, but useful for
sleeping or blocking out high pitched noises.

After about 2 minutes, you do seem to forget they
are in your ears. So, I guess these are suitable
    for sleeping.

I took the Leight Sleeper Ear Plugs on vacation. I was pleased by how they helped me to go to sleep in a motel room.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very difficult to fit into my ear canal ...
Very difficult to fit into my ear canal -- I had to be quick. They worked effectively once inserted. These would be excellent for a noisy, factory type work environment. I'd only recommend these to someone using them on a regular basis due to the difficulty of learning to insert them. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Austria's Pharmacutical Advice.
September 20th I traveled to Europe for an extended trip. I was in Innsbruck Austria enjoying the beautiful sights. My eyes were burning from lack of sleep, bright Alpine sunshine and seasonal alergies. The local pharmacist advised this eye drop for instant relief. It WORKS ! the absolute best eye drop I have found.

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't know how it works but...
This is an amazing product. I've had allergies all of my 50+ years. Over the last 15 years I've tried every other "allergy" eye drop there is. Prescription and OTC. NOTHING works as well or lasts as long (for me) as Similisan #2. Like I said, I don't know how or why it works, but it's just great -- and no side effects. (No, I have no hidden agenda here, just trying to share my experience. Of course results will vary from one person to the next, I'm sure.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best I've used
Having tried a variety of brands over the years I will say these are the best I've used. In exception to the previous reviewer, I have experienced the most comfortable fit with no morning soreness. These plugs are very effective at blocking out most, if not all noise frequencies. They are also washable and reusable. Other brands I've tried have never really satisfied the last criteria. I'm still using the same 5 pair pack I bought almost a year ago.
