Clearly showed ovulation, but question accuracy of temps
Charting the temperatures taken by this thermometer clearly showed me which day I ovulated.It was also clear which day my next cycle would start because of the drop in temperature.I'm not sure how accurate the individual temperatures are though.Every sample BBT chart I am able to find, including the one that comes with the thermometer, has 96.9 as the lowest possible temperature.My pre-ovulation temp was usually lower than that (96.2 - 96.6).The instructions state that you should have three consecutive hours of sleep before taking your waking temperature and I rarely sleep that well.Perhaps this is the cause of my low temperatures.I've also read that basal thermometers should measure hundredths and this one only measures tenths.At any rate, my cycle has a clear trend so the themometer does its job.

When you turn on the thermometer, a light comes on and the previous temperature that was taken and stored in memory is displayed.The light then goes off and you can take your temperature.The thermometer beeps while measuring your temp.It usually beeps about ten to fifteen times for me and then a long beeping sound lets me know it is done.At this point, you can press the button, the light comes on and your temperature is displayed.The thermometer then turns off.It will automatically turn off later if you forget.The beeping does not wake my husband and since I take my temperature very early (around 4:30 AM when it is still dark), I find that the beeps help to keep me awake.

VERY Annoying Thermometer
This thermometer drives me & my husband crazy! It beeps constantly while it's taking the temperature, concluding with a series of rapid beeps. I miss my old thermometer that beeped only once at the end.

I usually wake up for the first time in the morning a couple of hours before our alarm goes off, and I take my temperature then. With our previous thermometer it was no big deal to do it that way, but this noisy thermometer wakes us both up and we have trouble falling back asleep afterwards.

Definitely avoid this thermometer if constant beeping noises bother you first thing in the morning!

a great little tool
I bought this thermometer about a month ago and have been using it to take my basal body temperature every morning. I think it is a wonderful product. Although some reviews said the beep was annoying, I think it is actually a very important feature. It beeps to let you know it is placed correctly. I sure like the peace of mind when I hear that. The display is lit and very easy to read.

I can not believe that someone said she had to run into bathroom to check her temp,because she did not want to wake her husband. Come on! The beep is not loud at all. And..didn't she know that basal temp should be taken the first thing in the morning without any unnecessary movements? I think husbands should actually help wives take basal temp by inserting the thermometre into their wives' mouths. This way, we can reduce our movements to minimum! My husband does this for me everyday!

One more suggestion for those who want to keep your latest result in the thermometre's memory for more than one reviewing. Whenever you turn on the thermometre to review the result, turn it off BEFORE the display begins to flash. After it flashes, it will become blank and ready for your next test. Your last temp will not be there any more. As long as you shut it off before it flashes, your latest result will always be there till you take your basal temp next time.

By the way, 1/10 degree F is precise enough for basal temp. Non-basal temp thermometres are 2/10. 1/100 is not necessary at all since on basal temp chart, we only record like 97.6, 98.2...

If you are going to chart, you NEED a reliable basal body therm. This one is my personal favorite. I like how it beeps to let me know it is in the right place and when it is done.

Good basic thermometer, lasted for years of daily temping.
I've been using this thermometer for years for charting purposes and for my two children.It's lasted (on the initial battery) since December 2000 until now (February 2004) with daily temp checks for charting.The continuous beep while temping let's you know that it is working, but it's not too loud to wake a sleeping spouse next to you (or a very tired/feverish child).My 8 year old like to be able to take and read his own temperature.

Fun way to measure the heat!
Okay, I confess. I take my temperature often for no reason because I like to hear it beep while in my mouth and then see I am a normal 98.6 degrees a living healthy person.

Oh, yeah, the other great thing about the beeping thermometer is that if you are sick and taking your temperature everybody knows it from the sound of the beeping and you get instant sympathy.

This thermometer is very easy and simple to use just press a button for the digital display to come up and stick it in your mouth. Once in your mouth it will begin beeping and give a long beep to indicate it has finished. Remove and check the display for temperature.

The memory will hold the last temperature taken if you need to reference that number.

The thermometer came just in time for our little one to come down with a fever. Taking a squirmy temp is no fun, but when we told her to be still and listen for the ""beeps,"" she quieted right down and laughed when it was ""all done."" Now both little ones ask if they need their ""beep-beep."" The thermometer was fast and accurate and the beep lets you know it's working properly. Great thermometer and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

This thermometer has a lot going for it. It's unbreakable -- definitely a big plus! You don't have to shake it down, which some people have problems with (especially older people with less flexible wrists). And the beeping lets you know that it's working properly and when it's done. My only complaint is that it reads out only in Fahrenheit -- I take a thermometer when I travel and telling a pharmacist your temperature anywhere else needs to be done in Centigrade. Wildly inaccurate
Varied from 10% above to 8% below actual humidity, as measured against several known accurate humdity guages. I returned it as useless.

works decently
Don't breathe on this or get it close to moisture or else it'll screw up the readings for about 30 minutes. Also don't use the velcro strap as they don't stick very well, on either end. I tried to put it up on the wall and it fell off after an hour or so. Otherwise works great.

Works fine as far as I know
This seems to work as advertised.I bought a different brand and style in the same price range, and when I set the two next to each other I get almost the exact same readout for both temperature and humidity on each.So either it is accurate, or both are junk.

Don't waste your money
This product might be worth $1.99 tops. But at $17.99 this is a piece of junk. It didn't even work out of the box. They say "buyer beware". But if you buy this product you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Very poor quality service from Amazon
Maybe it's just my bad luck, but I ordered this item and it came out with the expired battery. I called Amazon, and they sent me a replacement quickly. The thing is that the replacement was in exactly the same *not working* condition. The same problem with the battery. I was suggested to shop somewhere else for this item, as Amazon vendor don't check the condition of the items before they ship them to customers. Be aware! Don't waste your time.

Mabis 15-736-00 digital thermometer fails
I have purchased two of these.The first one died at third attempt to use. The second one gave very inaccurate readings on its second use.

Good, but not 10/20 seconds...
It starts beeping after about 20 seconds (under arm), but if you keep it there for another minute, the temperature reading goes up by another 0.7-0.8 degree, which is pretty significant. A very good product otherwise. Would be 5 stars if not for 20-second claim.

Very Quick results ~ once you get the hang of it!
I purchased this thermometer based on recommendations from two friends.I had difficulty taking the temps of my six month old by myself as you have to pull their ear slighly up and back in order to take an accurate temp.I had to try it several times with the help of my husband to get the hang of it.I like how a beeping sound is made once the temp has been recorded.It also has a memory feature have not used yet.One more thing ~ I accidently dropped it in the kitchen sink (in a bowl of soapy water).I picked it up quickly and set it on the counter.After two days, it had dried out and is working normally again.

Thrilled with this
After years of buying digital thermometers that sometimes worked and sometimes didnt I got sick of wasting my money on them.I went looking for a non-digital and found this one.It looks like the old fashioned mercury thermometersaltho it is a bit wider and a tiny bit awkward to keep in your mouth.HOWEVER...despite this I wouldnt go back.It is very accurate and unlike a digital if I use it and get a temp..and than immediately do it again, i will get the same temp.Unlike the digitals which had wildly different temps...

I also want to say my son broke one on a ceramic bathroom floor and I was a bit nervous about how I would clean it up.The silver doesnt *ball* up like mercury...it kind of spreads out and sticks.Almost looking like I had silver plated the tile.I checked the makers website and looked for an MSDS on toxicity and cleaning.I am happy to say they were exactly right, it cleaned up well with a liquid cleanser (a spray) ... with a dry towel or just water it just spread around but with a spray cleanser it came right up.

Good, but could be better
I love the fact that this is a soft thermometer - it is so easy to keep it in place, especially when you could easily fall back to sleep!

I do wish that the following things could be either fixed or added:
1) The battery cap is right at the end of the thermometer that sticks out, so if it is tight in the holder, you get only the endcap and not the whole thermometer when you go to pull it out.

2) I wish that the display was lighted so that I could more easily see the results without having to turn on the light and wake up my sleeping husband.

3) I wish that it kept the last temperature taken recorded just in case.

Best invention ever
Okay so I bought this thermometer and find it handy for the WHOLE family.By far the best investement I've ever made.Its very convenient, super quick, and accurate. The only I don't like about this particular brand is the fever alert feature when it detects a high fever. I have a drama queen daughter, and the feature lets her know "hey i have proof i'm sick, better kick it up a notch".I previously owned a braun and when I saw she had a temp I was able to play it off and tell her that she didn't have a temp but that i was giving her some tylenol "just in case". Wish it worked
I can already tell this will be a great product - My 3 year old took to it like a duck to water and I (will) get the satisfaction of a much more reliable temp than axillary, now that she refuses a rectal temp.

However, product did not work out of the box and I wasted lots of time and energy trying to find a replacement battery (seemed like that SHOULD be easier than sending it back and waiting for a new one.)However, the part # doesn't seem to exist in the battery section and now (3 days after receipt and daughter's illness has passed) I am left to try the suggestion of another poster - using a battery that does exist.Too bad I cannot give it more stars, but this has been a VERY frustrating start.

Great Thermometer...until battery dies
The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because I cannot find a replacement battery to save my life, even after contacting Timex and the MedLLC folks.

I used this as a BBT thermometer and the curved shape made it very easy to lay back down on my pillow while it was taking my temperature.The large digital readout with IndiGlo light makes it easy to read a temp in the dark or without your glasses on.

Not accurate
My husband and I tried this thermometer but were very disappointed.After taking my temperature several times in a row and having a wide range of final temperatures (some were as much as 2 degrees apart), we felt that we could not trust it to give us accurate results.In comparison to our very cheap, digital, oral thermometer (which was very consistent), the forehead scanner also seemed to give lower overall readings.For the price (and the uncertainty), this thermometer is definitely not worth it.

help with temp taking
We have a thermometer similar to this one and it was a little tricky to get it working right.You do have to keep the thermometer touching your forehead as you lightly drag it across from one temple to another.Any air that enters the area with the infrared scanner will register it's temp and not yours.I hope this helps. ...
